  • I have listened about 30 versions of this piece, he was the only one who followed the score at (4:58-5:00) to perform the "Espressivo". Most of the violinist even the best interpretation (I think) of this piece, Hahn, didn't follow the score. They performed staccato on note A, this caused a gap between note A and note D. Mintz performed legato on note A and gave a perfect effect!

  • I wish more violinists would play with this sort of tone. So many are screechy to my ears. Maybe it depends on the recording techniques too. I have been involved in a forum with threads that rate various classical genre pieces (a waste of time, I know, but great fun) and for some reason I found I like Prokofiev's violin concertos much more than his piano concertos. I wonder why. I usually prefer piano.

  • Oh, Sergei and Shlomo ~ Et al:III

Simply a wonderful piece as wonderfully performed.

Thank you so much for this.

  • To beautiful, to symphonic!! There's death and desolation in this piece.

Best perfomance: Isaac Stern/Zubin Metha, CBS recordings!

  • Super sweet tone coming out of the violin there.

  • Absolutely exquisite!

  • Yea he's got great style.

  • 5 stars and a rose for Mr. Mintz. It's so beautiful. He should be more famous, in the row of Perlman and Zukerman.
