On the forehand video, Mr. Razik offers an outstanding tip about swinging parallel to the floor. Swinging this way surpasses any notion of trying to muscle the ball.
Why didn't he repeat this important tip on the backhand side? I find that swinging parallel to the floor works there as well. What would he say to that? He's a great player, and I'm sure he'd have an answer.
thanks a lot for effort but question: do you use your wrist to power the shot as in does the wrist rotate during the shot or is it firm and power is delivered from the arms?
@fadyadelnageeb its never too late to start learning a sport, but if your looking at competitions, youd absolutely have some catching up to do compared to the people at the top of the game who started playing much earlier.
@fadyadelnageeb my dad started at 14 and now he is really good - you can start at any age - you don't need to start at 5 to become a champion, it is a fun game and an excellent workout! good luck play well and make sure you wear goggles for safety - i've heard of a few people losing an eye from not being careful!
Helpfully vid, but whenever pros hit the ball it looks like they are always slicing at the ball, could someone help explain that? Do they change just before the racket impacts the ball? I know that you want an open racket face. But when the do it it looks like the ball shud hit the ceiling! Lol
they are slicing the ball at impact. if you are holding the racket correctly with an open racket face you should be putting slice spin on the ball naturally.
@lebuzzlebuzzybee First, the ball is hit through, as a result, although the racket face is open, the momentum is forward. The open racket lifts the ball but the forward motion will propel it forward rather than merely up. The faster the racket speed the more the forward momentum. It also has to do with the follow through. If your follow through is down, the ball will actually go down despite the open racket face. Hope this helps.
as great as razik is, this video is incredibly misleading. watch amr or ramy or jp or gaultier or anybody else who actually has decent strokes and you'll see that razik is wrong both about '80 degrees', and the path of the racquet in slow motion. it's bewildering to me that top pros just don't get the concept of forearm pronation. regardless, props to this guy for promoting the game!
hmmm, i'll recant slightly after watching the second part of the demonstration - he's not so far off. his explanation, however, is pretty far off. so just try to do what he does, not what he says to do. :)
Yeah , wierd explanantion ! The face should be open on the backhand preparation but some players turn the shoulder a lot when playing a backhand more than others. This creates more power through weight transfer but means that the tilt in the body makes the racket point more forward or look like it is closed faced. He should have explained about shoulder turn creating more power, not making the incidental closing of the racket face something to focus on. confusing vid !
good video! my names Madison, kinda feelin bored if any1 wants to join me on cam or wana chat i will be signed on at __ PLAY-CAM...dot...COM __ my user ID there is Madison_bliudtx chat soon xx its FR33 to j0in! mwah

This comment has received too many negative votes show
question- ive noticed when ever a squash player strikes the ball his/her other hand looks really gay . why does this happen
StuartClitheroe 2 years ago
Its probably a balance thing. When I make a back hand shot my left arm comes out behind me as if im spreading both arms.

Great vid, thanks for posting! However in the discription of the vid, it's mislabelled as forehands, so you might want to change that :)
