  • 1:37 poor Benton

  • Class and action. Charm and guile.

  • I just had to come back and watch this video again! And if I had to choose my favorite Doctor it would be impossible but Jon Pertwee if definitely one of the top!

  • Go Doctor!

Every single one of them... William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and Matt Smith all of them are brilliant!

  • RIP Sir Pertwee. You were the start of the Doctor' s golden age. Wish you were for the big 50!

  • Old man had moves!

  • Lol. The BEST John Pertwee moment EVER 1:04. :)

  • Omg. Your song choices are always so good and represent each doctor perfectly. :)

  • I had always wondered who the white haired guy was when PBS ran "Robot". When I finally saw "Spearhead from Space" I was hooked. When asked recently by a British co-worker who my favorite Doctor was, I answered "Jon Pertwee" and I still mean it.

R.I.P. Jon---Splendid Chap, all of him.

  • I do love the 3rd doctor, its a shame the footage isnt well re mastered on the dvds

  • actually everyone, they're all bloody brilliant! : )

  • ohmaigodyes! This song IS Doc #3 personified.

  • My intro to DW was Tom Baker on late 70's American PBS, so I considered him the best Dr for many years. FINALLY got the chance to see most of available Classic DW, plus some of the New Series. NOW consider Pertwee #1, followed by T.Baker, Troughton, Hartnell, & Tennant.

The best era of DW? The "Sarah Jane Era" with lovely, irreplaceable, and much missed Elisabeth Sladen, Seasons 11-to-14, Series 2&4, PLUS the incredibly good SJA.

  • rip jon pertwee nicholas courtney(brigadier) and elisabeth sladen(sarah Jane) :(

  • Jon Pertwee's Doctor was an utter badass, such an action hero, epic tribute to an epic Doctor, thanks!

  • Jon Pertwee hands down wins the award for most badass Doctor ;)

  • @JackWProductions,

He was the James Bond of TIme Lords

  • @MegaClam1 I would not be surprised in the least if Ernst Blofeld and/or Dr. No are just puppets for the Master.

  • How come you hate the music?? It's awesome, and fit's the Pertwee era so well.

  • Excellent!

  • that last clips from the inferno

  • I don't like it because of the music. You could make this with the Shrek version or Everyday Hero by Smash Mouth for the same theme.

  • thank you for uploading this one again....yeah I like the song lol

  • That song really does fit the 3rd Doctor's era, though :)

  • I've found that I can identify all the clips except the bit at around 2:31, where something's grabbing his head from behind. Help?

  • @RavenSkyewalker It's from The Green Death. When The Doc visits Metebelis 3.

  • @DoctorD279 No, I don't think so. It doesn't have the blue Metebelis 3 light. I mean the bit just before that. Not the tentacle attack, but the bit with steam or fog and something grabbing him from behind.

  • @DoctorD279 I finally placed the clip -- it's from "Death to the Daleks," the Doctor objecting to attempts to make him breathe druggy incense at a ritual sacrifice. I hadn't seen that story in about 25 years, oops...

  • this is the best 3rd doctor video. It really captures his era and his personality. He was the James Bond of the Doctors despite his age and who the hell could pull of frilled shirts and capes besides Jon Pertwee.. Thought it was cool that Matt Smith got his clothes from a very similar hospital, i'm sure that was a 'homage' to Jon Pertwee.

  • I do love this song, but I dunno, it seems a bit too 80's for the third Doctor to me xD

I still like the video though. :P

  • what episode is 0:23 from

  • @doctorwho3600 Death to the Daleks

  • Never delete this again, o Babelcolour! However awful the song may be, it does work for the Third Doctor. This is a great tribute to a Doctor I love enormously.

  • He and McCoy are my Drs!! <3 <3

  • i couldn't stop laughing at the song

  • You deleted all the other tributes you had on disk? More lost Doctor Who "episodes", 'eh? :)

Pertwee was the "James Bond" of the Doctors I reckon. :) It's so depressing viewing this stuff sometimes when you know the actors are all (or nearly all) dead and this is the stuff of my childhood. Makes me feel near death myself. :(

But I still like it. :)

  • Well done. I don't mind the song actually. I love your tributes. Well thought out and well edited. :)

  • Funny...saw this song used recently in a tribute to the Brig...does this mean when John Levene or Richard Franklin bite it (which hopefully won't be for a long, long time) their tribute videos will be set to this song as well?

  • The best doctor of them all go Doctor 007

  • It amazes me how much ass he kicks. Even Nine never got that physical with people.

Also that music is just perfect. It brought a smile to my face.

  • My second favourite doctor! This tribute is awsome! =D

  • Jon Pertwee and Roger Delgado turned Archenemy conflict into an art form.

  • whatever3132 said it! I mean, I enjoy the other Doctors. They all have their good qualities. But Pertwee was just THE BEST. He's never been topped, and I really doubt he ever will be! (Also, although I agree with you on the song, it's kind of oddly appropriate for his Doctor...)

  • You the music could really work for any of the Doctors because he is a hero. He doesn't fight phyically like Pertwee did but they did always save the day. But this is still an awesome video.

  • Jon may have been the dr. most like James Bond, but he also had the most distintive gentlemanly persona and subtle sex appeal. His era showcased what a great ensamble piece the show could be, via UNIT and the exile to earth. He had great chemistry with his female compainions, members od UNIT, and his good friend who played the master, Rodger Delgado. People forget that he was very gracious to fans of the show and a real ham. I was very sad when he died in 1996.

  • The song was also featured in 1984 film, Footloose, where Kevin Bacon dances?

  • Pertwee is by far my favorite doctor. I keep hoping we'll have another just like him, not the goofy ones they've had lately. I think the third doctor has ruined me for any other.

  • Hey, nice.

Oh sweet, Venusian Aikido shihonage at 1:15!

  • JON PERTWEE FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

He is and will always be my favorite. Oh, I love all the other Doctors a great deal, but Pertwee is just... WOW. He was like James Bond with a (broken) TARDIS!

  • i like most the doctors but some like colin baker but he is okay but not the best doctor to me he anoys me a bit.

  • He just kicks ass! Seriously, the moves he does are amazing!

  • Pertwee rocks! He was so awesome as the Doctor! :D

  • Thanks for colourising invasion of the dinosaurs clip from 3.13 - 3.14. :)

  • Most over-used song ever, good tribute though

  • your the best Babel !

  • 1) Tom Baker 2) John Pertwee 3) Patrick Troughton 4) Matt Smith 5) William Hartnell 6) Colin Baker 7) Peter Davison 8) Sylvester Mccoy 9) Paul McGann 10) David Tennant 11) Christopher Eccleston
  • He was def the most physically strongest of the doctors. The number of episodes he goes hand to hand with aliens to take them down was quite good - never leathal - but had the smarts too!

  • awsome love the music 5/5

  • Six people were hypnotized by the Master before watching this.

  • 1:44 Jon Pertwee had to make an awful lot of funny faces!

  • How can anyone hate this? This is probably my favourite of the tributes. The music fits him perfectly, and it's just vidded so well. People need to realise that the music isn't everything... even though I will admit this is a favourite song of mine.

  • Shame about the choice of music.

  • @TariNimmireth: Try doctorwho-episodes (.com). They have all the old episodes, plus the new ones, Torchwood, Sarah Jane, and K9 & Company.

  • Haha this looks great! I gotta get a hold of some Pertwee episodes!! Anyone know where I can watch them online? Can't rent them anywhere in my city . . .

  • The original Most Interesting Man in the World.

  • The ONLY guy who can wear frill's and get away with it, and still look epic, with that I salute you Pertwee ! x

  • JON PERTWEE <3

  • He was my doctor

  • Happy 91st Birthday Jon you were truely a great Doctor

  • Whereas "Hero" is one of my favorite songs ever, heh. Awesome choice, and a brilliant tribute--thank you for re-posting it!

  • I always thought you would do, "Secret Agent Man" for Pertwee. But I do think "HO4H" fits as well.

  • Hi, I love this tribute. The 3rd is my favourite doctor. Can nayone tell me what episode it was at 1:38. I don't think I've seen it.

  • @Ravengirl1011 Its from 'Spearhead from Space' where The Doctor is trying on clothes from the hospital. Remind you of a episode which has been on this year?

  • The video that can make me love this song.

    Three is so much awesomeness.

  • very nice

  • I'm 20 years old now but i was able to find all the old eps of doctor who and Pertwee is my favorite next to Tom. The 3rd doctor is my doctor I don't care what anyone says!

  • I thi s is like the ninth dr. tribute

  • what do you mean you hate the music, this is a class track.... and you chose it.

    Brilliant

  • Very excellent tributes, but is it possible to upload the 4th doctor's tribute? That one was also excellent!

  • EVERYBODY DOWN!

  • the timelords exiled the dr on earth but he def had a great time (UK was on a 3 day week power cuts at 9pm, the BBC was broke) but great scripts and a excellent doctor & master

  • Ah, Pertwee. The only Doctor who could really carry off Karate.

  • Random trivia for you- My mum (i know, imbarrasing) met doctor number three, he sat next her on a bus. Apprently he was headed for a surrey in wales..

Looks like even today the bbc dont stray far from wales :P

I think it might have been the five doctor episode, not sure. shame he passed away. R.I.P.

  • I have watched this countless times.. Jon Pertwee is my absolute favorite doctor! I realize that sometime this video will no longer be available to watch.. if only there was a way of getting a copy... (Hint Hint) Thank you for this video.. it's brilliant and exquisitely done!

  • This is an excellent tribute and since you brought this one back, can you also bring back the Tom Baker tribute?

  • if u don't like the song then try hero by charlotte perrelli. i listened to it while watching ur vid and it seemed to work well.

  • The Third Doctor kicked ass.

He was the cool-ass kicking-car driving-fancy dressing doctor and that is what made him the so cool!

  • He wouldn't have cried like a bitch when the Master died like Tenant's version did!

  • He wasn't the last time lord when he battled the master!!!!!!!

  • I never said he was!!!!

  • your miss understanding me, when pertwee was the doctor, galafrey was still there so he wasnt the last of the timelords, when david tennant was the doctor he was the last one and the master dying was the last of his kind dying.

  • if you did a fourth doctor tribute it would be nice to see it, i am wondering what music would suit the bohemian :)

  • I believe it was a rhapsody..of some sort.

  • my first doctor, fondly remembered :)

  • Man, the Third Doctor was a real action man! I've got to look into him some :)

  • jon pertwee: the ultimate doctor!

  • Please try and reupload the tom baker tribute it was brilliant.

  • I am very surprised that no footage of the 3rd Doctors sword duel with the Master made it in.

The third was one of my favourites, a thinker but also a fighter when it called for it.

  • the third appears not to be as afraid of close combat as the rest off his incarnations

  • Jon Pertwee

    Jo Grant

    The Brigadier

    Sgt. Benton

    Captain Yates

    Sarah-Jane Smith

Right then, that completes my Christmas list...

  • And what a lovely list it is, lol!

Here's mine for the 3rd Doctor:

    Jon Pertwee

    The Brigadier

    Sgt. Benton

    Bessie

  • Pertwee was and always will be the best doctor IMO

  • Reupload Sylvester McCoy! ...please?

  • Youtube deleted it because of the music, but the new one is much better anyway, I think!

  • I have the vid in my favourites if you want to have a look. =]

  • Fantastic! Pertwee is the greatest! And personally, I like the music much better than the one on your Troughton Tribute.

  • haha he looks like an action bad-ass,

  • could you reupload the tom baker tribute?

  • Amazing that a guy can wear that much velvet and lace, speak with a Brit accent, and still be a bit of a badass... Much as I like 'em all, the 3rd Doc is my favorite, and oft-underrated.

  • Damn, Pertwee is cooler than I thought.

It'll be hard for me to decide who is the best Who.

  • Pertwee is my fave doc!!!! downloaded and faved, thnks lads 4 posting this vid babel!!!

  • I love this vid!! downloaded and faved, pertwee is my fave doctor!!! thnks so much 4 posting this babel

  • are u ever going 2 b doing a 4th doctor

  • He did...but youtube removed it, shame it was rather good...

  • ok .

  • I'll admit I'm not a big fan of the song - but it's entirely appropriate as a tongue-in-cheek reference to the more physical, swashbuckling style of Pertwee's portrayal of the Doctor. Good video!

  • thank you

"swashbuckling" is the word I've been looking for for so long to describe the third doctor

  • So I've helped expand someone's vocabulary? That's great. Thank you for the compliment.

  • @Mbop28 Strange. "Pimp" is the word that comes to mind when I think about the Third Doctor.

  • I really like the song, always have and the Doctor is a true hero. Three is one of my fav docs. He was smart and caring and brave and I'd have gone off with him and Bessie in a minute. Jo was one lucky companion. Jon Pertwee was a tremendous actor. Thanks for the vid that celebrates him.

  • Excellent tribute to Jon's 3rd Doctor! Great song choice too :)

  • Can someone tell me which episode is that at 0:50 & 0:55

  • 0:50 is the three doctors, where the dr fights the dark side of omegas mind.

  • Pertwee kicked ass! Literally!

  • venusian aikido

  • would it not be fair to rename this tribute

"BaeblColour Tribute: The Third Doctor"? not telling you what to do, it just seems to fit with all the other tributes being titled in this way ;)

  • please reupload the 4th doctor tribute! it's one of the best...

  • Good tribute. I think the music is good but if you dont like then I could recommend "Live to win" or "Live and let die" for a re-make (if your doing one) but I think Hero works

  • I think Pertwee had the best era of the show. He doesn't have a bad episode. His worst episode isn't nearly as bad as the other doctor's worst episodes. Gotta love Pertwee.

  • John Pertwee is my most fav doctor!!! LUV IT!!!

  • Doc 3 kicked ass!

  • sorry you hate the music. I love bonnie Tyler. But you did a bang up job with the clip. The third Doctor was in many ways my favorite.

  • what story is 3:27 from?

  • The beginning of The Green Death I think?

  • The Time Monster is Believe

  • actually i think its The Mutants

  • 3:18 is from terror of the autons, right? they apparently recorded a commentary for a dvd of that 5 years ago. i really want them to release it!

  • I didn't go near daffodils for quite a while after that story...

  • Every Jon Pertwee story exists. Just not all are in colour, at least not yet anyway but many are being vidfired. The Doctors who are missing stories are Hartnell and Troughton with the latter affected the worse, shame really as he had some crackers and was fantastic in the role.

  • Yeah, but the audio still survives, thank God. I hope they animate all of the missing episodes and release them on DVD.

  • I can proudly say that I have finished the jon pertwee era at last today!

  • This was awesome! Jon Pertwee was the very first Doctor I ever saw, when they were re-running it on PBS in the mid-80s. Sadly, it was the BOSS supercomputer storyline, which BBC purged, so I'll probably never have it on DVD.

  • the BOSS supercomputer? Wouldn't that be the Green Death? You're actually wrong--the green death does exist--in fact, I just finished watching it. I can send you the link where I saw it.

  • Thanks! I just got finished watching it. It was even better than I remember.

  • The Green Death IS on DVD.

  • And here I thought it had been purged. I'm going to have to see if I can find it.

  • Hmv usually have old dr who on dvd for £8, unless its newly released -- then its £16.

ah...... are you abroad??? then my prattlings been for nothing lol.

  • The Green Death is on dvd pick it up!

  • that story is on dvd it's the green death

  • I see you use a lot of clips from the mutants--is that your favorite 3rd doctor serial, or one of your favorites?

  • A Re-edit needed, as this song is dedicated to 'Harry Sullivan', still good to!. I miss Ian Marter.

  • a re-edit? Are you crazy? This song is perfect for the Third Doctor!

  • You're right of course, but there's a long running Dr Who vid of Harry using the same tune, so it'll always be Harry's tune for me! ( I'm sadly a LOT older than you!) X

  • what's the video? I'd like to see it for myself.

  • It's called 'the thoroughly decent Harry Sullivan'. Sarah Jane and Harry made a lovely team - she was like his Mum! Harry was a perfect hero - gormless, not a clue what was going on, but would take a bullet for his friends. He made us little boys think that we could be heroes too.

  • Aaaaw! All the stuff we missed... in Germany we only got Sylvester McCoy on TV - and of course Eccleston and Tennant in recent years. But the rest... General public is really missing out on something there. Cheers and thx for the vid, again!

  • i love the perfect timing of the "crashes" in the song--like "I need a hero" *crash*--it's just sublime! I'm going to be really mad if youtube mutes this video!

  • Jon Pertwee is probably one of my most favorite Doctors next to Patrick Troughton.

  • You can't hate the music it's so pertwee!

  • Brilliant good song amazing doctor

  • the clip where the third doctor is waving, from 1:10 to 1:11, what serial is that from?

  • The Time Warrior.

Sarah: "Are you going to sleep there?"

The Doctor: "If you'll allow me to do so." Wave. "Goodnight"

    Cool stuff!

  • The third Doctor was the James Bond of Dr. Who! Good show, Jon Pertwee. You outdid even Sean Connery.

  • I like the way that BabelColour chooses the most obvious song choice that no-one else dares to touch.

  • and makes it awesome ^.^

  • If you're doing a new tribute (like you did for Tennant's Doctor), I had an idea. Make it show the bleaker side of Pertwee's Doctor, in that he's a prisoner, marooned on Earth. He's had to regenerate into a heroic personality, as he instinctively knew that he couldn't just cut and run in the TARDIS; whatever came, he would have to stand and fight. Not quite sure what song would work for that, though.

  • If someone else had taken over from Patrick Troughton, it would have seemed ridiculous that Jon Pertwee was even considered. Instead, Pertwee played the part dead straight, as arguably the best and most heroic incarnation of the Doctor to date.

Babelcolour, a great tribute. There will never be another Jon Pertwee.

  • which episode is it where he is on the trike

  • Day of the Daleks

  • he sure was in a lot of fights

  • fantastic, no clips with the doctor vs the daleks though1 Jon was my favirote doctor1!
