Aaaw, I am searching for a vid with someone doing it properly. With due respect to you sifu Mallon, you are lowering your defense before kicking. That is not unusual, seemingly everybody does so far on utube and me myself havent found a way out of that dilemma. So everybody if you find a vid showing someone doing a proper jump kick without lowering the defense for catching additional momentum for the jump please let me know.
@thebeliver91 all the styles you mentioned have kung fu in them, krav maga has plenty of five animal and white crane movements and muay thai is white elephant style
@ubersedanshaggy kung fu is one of the worst martial arts for YOU, maybe not everybody else.... i have tried TKD (a sport), then went to kung fu. i personally find kung fu much better.
i believe its better to learn with the tuck so u dont practice without it for a set amount of time itll make it harder to tuck later on.. or thats my thought on it anyway lol
Please don't ever try these kinds of moves on the street. These types of things are for looks not for fighting.
Look at his hands drop as he winds up for that spin leaving his face open. Its usually best not to lose vision of your attacker either. Leaving the ground can be dangerous as you can easily be taken down, spinning and kicking while off the ground can make it worse. Very few people have enough skill to pull this kind of thing off. The only one that comes to mind is Cung Le.
@MyRanchMyRules sigh* how many times do we have to tell you people; it will work in a fight but you need to master it and actually knowing when to use it ; anything that involves in martial art, can be used in a fight ( just look at taichi lol )
@MyRanchMyRules id like to see you trying to explain that to a taekwondo master cause it has these kind of moves and they dont look like fun to get hit by. but then again ur the pro im just an observer.
@Blackwing024 That would be fine, but only if you're referring to a taekwondo master who focused on the combative forms and actual applications, not the sport/olympic form.
@elkaspero95 Sorry kid, you are wrong! Kung Fu has been around for thousands of years and so has this kick. I have won fights using similar techniques. I never knew the ancient Chinese monks trained combative moves "just for looks".... Looks like we have a couch potato grandmaster everyone! Ha ha
i do kickboxing i find it insane to call that a fighting stance its just so low his hands also i wanna get more flexible so i can peform this stuff lol

that's retarded it would be a lot stronger if it was done with the heel of the foot or the boy of the foot not the side and i would have a better chance learning this if i was playing street fighter on my super famcom (snes)
Then the technique would be a jumping spinning hook kick, not a jumping spinning crescent kick. Yes, a hook kick is more powerfull to land then a crecent (because it does hit with the back heel of the foot) but it's allso more advanced and harder to land.
your a retard that hasn't done any martial arts and thats pretty clear because you didn't know what a spinning hook kick is but it is true that they are more powerful
dude at the time i was street fighting people who were bigger and move athletic than I and winning so i had a douche-ish attitude and thought I knew it all and over the summer I took the time to train and study further in to the martial arts and saw the error in what i said and the errors in every thing I did I life at the time. I wish for every one to stop with the thumbs down
street-fighting .......thats not good, do you do any mma or other professional bouts cause thats were i got all my experience from. sorry about the retard remark, it was probably an honest mistake that you forgot about the kicks.
He needs to practise his a lot before he starts giving advice on how to do it.
His arms are flailing when he is in mid air. You always protect the groin with one closed fist or you tuck your arms in so you don't slow yourself down.
You don't squat down before you jump either or they will know you are going to attack with an air kick. You do have to bend the knees but the rotation and jump happen simultaneously. He also needs to bring his leg up sooner. He has decent balance though.

You are making too many movements before the kick. Try to control your arms more because an opponent would read you like a book. D

That was quite a good kick. Requires excellent flexibility.

@TheRealParagon you are wrong. that is a crescent kick. spin hool has the foot pointing horizontal. his was vertical like a correct crescent
