  • Change your scan setting on the TV and it will scale correctly.

  • what was that add on you had for the browser with tabs and (assuming) bookmarks on it?

  • It seems having a HDMI out on a phone would be more convenient. I wonder why phones are using this USB TV out instead which requires a separate power cable and the MHL device.

  • @jeffhanson1 MHL is a fantastic ingenious technology. A HDMI output alone on a mobile device is not optimized for mobile device. MHL is optimized for mobile devices by allowing the phone's battery to charge (minimally) while outputting to the TV and in theory MHL can use any connection type. Currently MHL uses both USB and HDMI for a connection type.

  • @garyminion Thanks for the info. Yes, I've since learned MHL doesn't drain the phone's battery like HDMI which is why it uses it's own separate power cable.

  • @jeffhanson1 There are already TV's that are starting to come out that are MHL supported, mainly Samsung and Toshiba hd TV's. If a TV is MHL supported then there is no need for a separate power source for the MHL cable meaning the MHL cable will be drawing the power directly from the TV. I hope this clarifies things for you.

  • @borosony I have my Galaxy Nexus hooked up to a Samsung HDTV with a Menotek MHL adapter, and the picture quality is HORRIBLE (Videos, pictures, and even the general display of the phone.)! I can't find any way to enhance the quality. Is there some sort of picture setting on the phone itself?

Also, is there any way to change the screen orientation when connected to an HDTV?

  • I bought the official Samsung MHL adapter and it works great. Has anyone found a way to force a portrait image? My DROID Charge used to do this, but it didn't use MHL; just micro HDMI.

  • I tried the Samsung MHL adapter with my Galaxy Nexus. At first I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. Audio/video does not work at all unless a charge cable is plugged in first. I could not have been more dissatisfied. The video output is only 720P. Plugging a charger into the MHL adapter does not charge the phone at all and if you unplug the charger from the MHL adapter, the picture and sound stops. The tv picture settings had to be changed from 16:9 to fit to screen. The recent apps, hom

  • @BaboonMF Are you using the official samsung adapter? With mine it charges the phone fine. You do need the charger plugged into the adapter to get it to work. It says it very clearly in the instruction book for the adapter.

Also, of course it only outputs 720p, that's the size of the screen.

It outputs 1080p when you play a 1080p video file.

Although I am yet to make it output 1080p when showing photos.

  • hey man, the part at Transformers 3, why doesn't it shows the subs on the tv set? is it the settings or?

  • I have the LTE version and tried this but cannot get it to work. Has anyone gotten this to work on the LTE (verizon) phone?

  • @rich872 yes. did you make sure to plug in your charger into the mhl's micro usb port? it didn't work when i just had hdmi plugged in

  • yep sure did, but cant get anything to display on screen, what brand of mhl adapter are you using?

  • @rich872 seems like a generic brand to me. i bought the one on overstock that was 7.99 with free shipping. if you go to google and search 'overstock 13907483' it should take you to the product page for it since it doesn't show up from just searching on their site

  • @SigningUpForPorn I'll give it a shot, thanks!!!

  • It works, but phone screen isn't exactly fitted into TV screen, cut off screen on sides.

  • @simongrowl same here, also tested with my friends SGS2 (works well)

  • This is the official MHL Hdmi adapter for Galaxy S II? If don't It works with Galaxy Nexus?

  • Hi.

I have this phone, and when I plug the MHL cable adapter in, nothing happens. The screen doesn't rotate to landscape and it doesn't register on the TV. My friend tried the exact same cable on his G S 2, and had no problems. Has anybody else had this problem with the phone?

  • Any way to display Powerpoint presentations with this? 'Cuz that would spare me lugging around a heavy notebook...

  • How are you playing mkv files? did you add any extra software/drivers/codecs?

  • @rafoolik Played them using Diceplayer, nothing else. Works a treat.

  • @borosony unfortunately i cannot purchase because the devs account has been suspended, i can only download the trial, which sucks.

  • @borosony do angry birds and/or other games play at full hd(if theyre optimised)?

  • @rafoolik I was able to play some .mkv files from stock. I've started using MX Video Player with great success as well. Very user friendly on using subtitles and multiple audio tracks.

  • @jessipoo1027 me too, but there are a few audio formats it wont play with the mkv. ill try out mx video player

  • Anyway to charge it while plugged in?

  • @xxfaultxx Yeah the adapter takes a standard micro usb cable, can see it at 0:08 on my little finger

  • Thank you for posting this

  • Well from 1:43 to 1:56 i haven't watch it till now any idea to get that in HD???

  • will the homscreen be able to go landscape when you use it without hdmi?

  • overscan is just annoying and senseless in flat tvs

  • will this work with the nexus s 4g with ics port on it ?

  • hey from where u get this cable for nexus..i need a one for mine..plss...

  • @webTutoring Yeah it works fine, I just wanted to show off the Nexus capabilities with 720/1080p :P

  • thanks for this vid :)

  • is the LTE version?

  • @Dagnelino GSM version.

  • will this work on any HDMI TV

  • @StraightFlush100 Tried 3 different hdmi screens, all worked as above.

  • What framerate does the tv report? 720@24 and 1080p@24 or does the phone only send @30?

  • I haven't really played around with it yet because I'm returning my phone but I've got the cut off at the sides too. Do you know how to get rid of it?

  • @Laintsurge Just found how to do it, need to switch off 'overscan' in the TV menu settings. Updated the description with a picture.

  • @borosony Thanks man. Wasn't sure if it was an effect of a cheap adapter.

  • cool thanks mate

  • Nice demo. Seems to work very well.

  • i assume this will work on U.S. version as well. Right?

  • @demoman4u2nv Yup, should be plug and play as above.
