Wow, lots of nonsense being talked here. Pacbots cost somewhere between 80-130k depending on the model. That robot was blown up, but you would be surprised how much of it can be reused, it may even be repairable. And no, not even with 600k could they design a HMMWV that is impervious to ALL IEDs nor would that do anything for the countless other vehicles used or dismounted troops...
@The1FastGP i award him the medal of hounor posthumusly for his heroic act
here ya go r2d2 as i said for being a hero to 10000 some people and for helping your fellow men plus all involved whom would otherwise have been hurt injured or killed
@infernodood3 That. They go in and disarm (or detonate) IEDs (or explosives in general) so men and women don't have to risk their own lives. The cost a little under $600 thousand. A lot less than the value of a human life, if you ask me.
@1ameise1 EOD actually, explosive ordnance disposal, he's referring to the guys operating the robot. I'll likely take that as a career path when I enlist.
no humans were injured in the making of this video!

solder:there's the EOD pacbot that's the t-1000-(BOOOM!!!)
me:yep now it's junk, but it honorably gave it's battery life to save a human one.

the US army should buy some 20$ RC cars and bump with them into those IEDs and if that wont get it off than send the 400K one.

@amoignis1987 for less than $600,000 they could make heavily armored humvees that are impervious to IEDs

they could have just blow it up with some incendiary rounds and saved a bunch of money and sold the robot and bought a palace in Iraq.

>If they know where the IED is why don't they just fire a few rounds there with a machine gun? What a waste!
wdigitog 2 years ago
Uhh, because machine guns don't do anything to an armored shell. The robot is safer.

that robot wasnt very safe
