BOBBY IS AND ALWAYS BE--- A HOTTY -I AM 53YRS OLD --MY PARENTS ARE NOW GONE--THEY COULD SPIN ON THE DANCE FLOOR TO THIS SONG..... IT JUST GETS ME CHOKED UP---LOVE YA BOBBY -TODAY & FOREVER
Bobby was one of the most virsatile performers I ever saw. Great talent, great music, great combination for us to enjoy. Thanks Bobby for giving it your all.
By just watching BD swing you could tell he had music running on his blood. He was a natural, a great dancer, fluid rhythm, loaded with talent! It’s unfair he left us so soon.
I had the privelage of seeing Bobby Darin when he performed in Bristol many years ago. It was when Mack the knife was in the charts. He was a brilliant performer and I enjoyed his show. I was really sad when I jeard he had died . The world that day lost a true performer some one that cant be replaced RIP Mr Darin you were one of the tops in entertainment

@mowwam they say it's cos he thought he didn't have long to live so he crammed as much in as he could. Which gives us a glimpse of how much of this wonderful life we waste. And he found his talent. Finding your talent helps, gotta be said.
@gedq he had rhematic fever ar 17 and developed rheumatic heart. yes, he lived like every day was his last. by the time he was 24 her was a millionare. he lived to be 38. he married sandra dee twice. she came back to him when he got sick. he recovered and died maybe a year or two later. he was an exceptional talent. born to perform. he slept all night at the grave of bobby kennedy after he was killed. he believed he was the right leader. his son ans sandra are still around.
@bigblondman1 And THAT is why he is my biggest inspiration. Now Mack the Knife is heard in every coffee shop and Beyond the Sea on every cruise ship in the world. A true testament to the power of making every single day of your life count.
@Kakarot21591 i totally agree. well, you have excellent taste in inspiring men. he was special. i remember him well, and always will. he was there in los angeles when bobby kennedy was killed. it affected him so much he became more relusive and his music more dramatic and protesting. i think its rather obvious he was a died in the wool democrat like me.
Huge Bobby fan here, and there is no one who oozes coolness but Mr. Darren. I love this performance, especially the ending where he's dancing towards the backlight. Awesome effect! No one does MTK better, although Clay Aiken does a helluva rendition. Still, Bobby will always be in my heart. What a Star! I only wish I would've seen him in person.
Imagine All That Talent, And Married To Sandra Dee. Hubba Hubba, Sandra Had Competition. Bobby's Mistress Was Entertaining. Bobby Had A Short Life, He Took It To The Max!! God Bless Bobby Darin, And You To Sandra, For "PUTTING UP" With Bobby's Mistress. My Opinion, MACK THE KNIFE Is Bobby's Signature...SONG!
Thanks for the share Bobbyfan & Mine!! Bobby was just dynamite!! Imagine how much more he would have contributed if he's stuck around a little longer!!!
Bobby Darin received the GRAMMY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD TONIGHT! His son Dodd Darin gave a beautiful speech on his behalf in yesterday's ceremony. It's on You Tube under " Bobby Darin Lifetime Award". Bobby was a versatile, multitalented genius!
About time too! We should all follow Bobby Darin's example of NEVER giving in despite adversity and we should all strive to do the best with what little time we have! Darin had a shorter time than most, and he made damn sure he'd make something of his life. His story inspires the hell out of me, and I am so thrilled that he is finally being recognized for it!
This has got to be one of the best exits of any performer I've ever seen...and I've seen a lot. If this was his last known performance of the song, then he really did leave it up for grabs the best way he knew....with lots of taste and a hint of class. There will never be another quite like him. If only I had gotten the chance to see him live. Would've been the moment of a lifetime.
"The most brilliant talent in show business." He sang with a cool, unique swagger, was an impressionist, multi-instrumentalist, is in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, The Las Vegas Walk of Fame, was nominated for six grammies and won two; won the Cannes Film Festival Best Actor Award and the Golden Globe Best Actor Award, and he won an Academy Award nomination too. He possessed a genius IQ and the wit and wisdom of a sage.
This is just unbelivable! Great stuff! No one can touch this performance. The "Real" king of swingin rockin jazzy licks! I can't stop using !!!! marks!
Big Sinatra fan but darin has got me hypnotized...yes a big!!!!!
always the sinatra v darin 'who was best etc.' - I know we all have our opinions and mine is, much as i like Sinatra - Darin was the real deal - singer and performer extraordinaire.
My late father and I were Frankie fans. But we both maintained that if Bobby would have lived, he would have eclipsed Sinatra. Even Sammy Davis Jr said he would never want to follow Bobby in performance. He was that good....
I once saw a clip of this back in the late seventies when Dick Clark did a short segment on him and this special came out around 72 cause he would do another one the following year before he died in December of 73.. A true talent none of us will see the likes again.
Bobby Darin was and still is The Mack Daddy of all time. The Mack Daddy of Entertainment. The Mack Daddy of all of Show Biz. The Mack Daddy of them all. Bobby Darin Forever.
Bobby was swinging long before Liza . In fact, she idolized him as a child. He had the most rhythm and charisma of all the great pop vocalists. A unique talent who would have been a gargantuan entertainment icon had he lived longer..
I would MUCH rather see the entire video minus the montage of photos. BD was the consumate performer and I would much rather see the whole performance, rather than only be able to hear a large portion of it.
I am so greatful that we have YouTube to see all these wonderful Bobby Darin videos. He recorded 300 songs. He was an amazing, underrated artist. We fans know how great he was, as good as Elvis, Frank, or Ray Charles. Bobby forever!
So did I, and I am 17 right now! I thought he was cute in his 20s when he recorded splish splash. Bobby Darin will always be my favorite singer, he had so much talent!
this tune really makes me misty, since it was the last time he every sang it.....walking off into the sunset, literally....he was dead three months later
nobody gets tired watching bobby darin sings this song-be it in mono black and white screen or hifi cd quality colored video..simplyk, this is solely a bobby darin song..nobody does it better...
by the way the original comes from a german musical named "die Dreigroschenoper" (the three cent opera) by bertold brecht (lyrics) and kurt weil (music). This song is called in german "mackie messer", a ballad about the crimes of a gangster called mackie messer (messer for knife)
I don't think Bobby ever sang this song the exact same way twice. A lot of performers who had signature songs always sang them the same way but not Bobby, it was always just a little bit different. What a talented man. love this, thanks for posting.
You know what hurts the most? Bobby going off into the sunset.....he knew this was the last time he'd perfrom his classic, signature hit..I'm glad he did it this, way, instead of one of his protest songs, which largely did not help his career....okay,libs, don't email hate mail:-)......Bobby chose it, and its done!
Congrats to Bobby and this Song Making number 3 on the Billboard charts for the last 50 Years that impressive but what do you expect it's Bobby Darin. Amazing
Over the Years, if you watched or listened to Mack, he changed the tempo and made it a litte faster every time he sang it. I to like this version the best but all of his songs are sensational! Bd Bless you for being such a great all arround Human Being we need more people like you!

Great job, love this video, no one has ever nor will ever sing Mack like Bobby Darin. I loved the picures. I love the dancing off into the sunset. wonderful post thanks
This is my all time fav, he really did make this more upbeat and the tempo was fantastic. What a wonderful tallent I really wish he was still around to share it with us. He will always be remembered. RIP BD you will always be loved.
this is not my favorite Mack, but its so poignant and sad......he literally dances off into the sunset, never to return to the stage....I cried when I first saw this one on the dvd
This is one of my favorites too. Did you notice that in this peformance from the '70s he has escalated to three "Eeks" punctuating the verse about sneaking around the corner from one "Eek" in the original version from That's All?
My favorite song to sing at karaoke. What an all-time smash-hit by the incomparable Bobby Darin. He "owns" this song.
