  • Praise the fallen? Fallen angels?

  • @Raidori17

The album makes several references to war.

So the title may refer to fallen soldiers.

  • @OrbitZombie It's a huge stretch, but maybe it's referencing world war III, when the mason's take control of the entire planet and make a one world government. Enslaving us all in the process. Also the logo is a caldron or torch with a flame, that's the official symbol of the illuminati, also known as the light bearers or the keepers of "true knowledge". Also praise the fallen(PTF) and below that 2012? What's that supposed to mean?

  • @Raidori17

While war is a reoccurring theme in the album it's hardly the main focus.

Ronan Harris [the writer/vocalist] said that the date of 2012 was chosen at random.

He also stated that he created Praise The Fallen as a sort of self-help album during a particularly difficult time in his life. And if you look at the lyrics and listen to the tone of the album you can tell it was very personal for Ronan. He's known to get very emotional when singing the track "Forsaken" in live shows.

  • @Raidori17 Anunnaki the fallen lol

  • @Raidori17

Most entertainment is full of symbolism.

  • The latin on the front translates to "Who is against us?"

  • The memories!

  • VNV VICTORY NOT VENGEANCE

  • Great!

  • Techno and Trance are the real music to me. I find peace in them drifting into my own world.

  • so sweet i like vnv

  • VNV Nation has managed to give a 17 year old the inspiration to continue a story meant to show more than what the human spirit can do, but what it cannot as well. Nothing can ever be perfect, and VNV Nation is one of the few bands out there that can capture the essence of that wisdom nearly perfectly.

  • ;-----------))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

  • well i am a high schooler i am 17 and i love vnv nation it means alot to me

  • @tabaker93 I salute you sir, just don't fall into the trap i did, don't think, even sunconciously that your above everyone. It will burn more bridges than you can build. Listen to the music, live by the music, but don't be the music.

  • @Doctor699 I am the music and music is me. there is nobody else, music never left me and always understood me.my oppinion.not to say music filled all the holes i had in my soul after some shits that happened.

  • @tabaker93 I'm 15 and I continue to provoke this allong the masses

  • @FireWhisp I'm guessing you're a high schooler, about 14, failing English and using Internet Explorer 6? I'll bet "ye" also dream of being a pirate, right matey? Try Firefox, it has spell check and private browsing.

However, spell check is not compensation for illiteracy. If you can't understand my other posts, I have no idea how you can understand VnV Nation. Though, private browsing may help you when you go to your 'fucking' ( just say the damn word, let the autocensor get it ) sites.

  • Btw, VnV CDs are next on my album list. I used to just skip music entirely, but after hearing Philip Wesley and Dax Johnson on Youtube I've bought 7 albums in the past few months. This DOES help get customers, recording companies.

Forget MP3s, I want at LEAST CD quality flacs of this. :)

  • This song may not speak of a particular religion, same as any of their songs... But it brims with faith. Faith and religion are not equal parties.

  • A true masterpiece!

  • talk of faiths/religions sucks; listening to vnv nation rules.

  • @knnyphph Though your attempt to sound intelligent .. You failed... Christianity is NOT a organized religion. Thats like to say if you believe in god that is a religion. Christianity is a faith.. Catholicism, Jehovah Witnesses , and/or Judaism IS a religion. You can if fact be a Christian and against ORGANIZED religion, as I am....I agree all music can be left to interpretation, but after reading many articles and interviews on VNV, my conclusion was that it seems their mindset may be Christian.

  • I love the bell chimes in this song :D

  • "And if rain brings winds of change,

then let it rain on us forever,

I have no doubt, from what I've seen,

that I have never wanted more"

a song I've quoted and have committed to memory more so than any other.... my email and AIM, both have references to VNV Nation or "SOLITARY" [solitaryseraph{is my email} and SeraphimNation{is my AIM}]

  • Anyone able to give me a link for all 3 albums plz :)

  • @77twitch uhmm VNV actually relaesed more than 3 albums: 1.Advance and Follow (1990!) 2. Praise the Fallen 3. Empires 4. Futureperfect 5. Matter and Form 6. Judgement 7. Of faith powert and glory... you should check out the "Burning Empires EP" aswell, it contains some of the most popular songs like Further, some "Solitary" remixes, some "Standing" remixes and songs like Forsaken (vocal version) and Saviour (VOX)...

  • @PointOfLight1 everything is organized down to every atom and molecule of our physical world. God is organized. Jesus himself said that you will know his followers by their display of love amongst themselves and for non believers. GOD is LOVe.....

  • @MrPolar73 you wrote to the wrong guy... I was just giving a few suggestions of what album people should listen if they like this track... I m actually not into your god or religion/organisation talk... sorry. Maybe you should learn how youtube is organized, so you can avoid to write to the wrong people ;-) Peace!

  • @MrPolar73 Thoughtless parroting of dogma and 'faith' is obnoxious. Between the ad nauseum Christians and smug atheists it is like being in a swarm of angry, squawking, pooping, fighting, stupid birds.

    Google the lyrics.

What are they REALLY saying here about religion? ( Hint, check the last part )

Get off your religious high horse and stop preaching on youtube so I can see comments about the music, FFS. ( Same for you, non-Christians )

btw, TYPINg lIKE ThiS makes you look drunk.

  • nice !!! ty :)

  • This is the track that helped inspire me to walk away from a self-destructive past and rebuild myself anew. This meant severing ties with some people whom I love dearly, but had only their interests and agendas in mind and Damien be damned. Thank you Mr. Harris and Mr. Jackson!

  • I know the goths don't want to see how Christian in faith VNV is...Just against organized religions....

  • @pmode101 I would call them spiritual then religious and if anything they would be catholic since Ronan is Irishm but does any of that really matter...?

  • @pmode101 Christianity IS an organized religion. They are against religion, but people who belong to various religions can find commonality in their music. Their music can be subjectively applied to whatever religion or spiritual ideology (or lack thereof) the audience wants.

  • where is download?

  • @TheJMJ1970 iTunes?

  • @Kojiamii

Are the synapses not part of the body..?

  • VNV nation is one of the greatest groups EVER! what they do is special. the can sum up emotion into sound, and that is very rare for a band to be able to do.

  • I think at least 3 people on youtube have broken mice. they misclicked the thumbs down.

  • @sfrees or very naughty mice!

  • @INTOtheUNKNOWN2012 very very naughty mice who dont like VNV Nation

  • Sever the line to the guilty past,

to the ones who brought us nothing,

spoke of futures brave and proud,

and brought only hate and war.

Lined the roads with hollow praise,

marked the land with paper statues.

Shadows fell on their futile ways,

and then there was nothing more.

  • Set me aflame and cast me free

Away you wretched world of tethers...

That opening line is so beautiful. It says everything I wish for but don't always have the words to say.

  • geiles lied NVN Nation rockz! :) HEIL VNV NATION!!!!

  • geiles lied NVN Nation rockz! :) HEIL VNV NATION!!!!

  • geiles lied NVN Nation rockz! :) HEIL VNV NATION!!!!

  • This was the first VNV Nation album i had, still my fav. Thx for sharing :)

  • They move me from my core. Ferocious. : D

  • You know I think, We (people who know about VnV nation), have a great example of what music should feel like.

  • And to think Lady Gaga is what is considered 'quality music' by the masses. Oh, what the world is missing.

  • ehhh some vnv nation songs are good... but listening to a depressing song like this ? lol

  • @redcorndef Perhaps you're beginning to glimpse the deeper truth that music, like life in itself, is not always about happy endings, sunshine, free dinners and laughter. Besides, what's so depressing about wishing for change? Without change, you stagnate like a standing pool of water.

  • @Tumnaloth Well said.

  • fuck lady gaga, fuck her!! =D

  • @minlit

Swine will always delight in the garbage, but a man with intellect delights in quality food.

  • @minlit A huge part of the "world" doesnt deserve to know good music like this.

  • @minlit So because someone has a different taste in music to you, that means your preference is better and theirs is worse? Don't you realise people say exactly the same about this kind of music?

  • In this picture stands a man

    all away alone in distance

    like a solitary field

    in some nameless foreign land

all around him points of light

starts to dim and cease transmitting

    shadows fell on futile games

And then there was Nothing More...

  • The series of noises I have just expirienced caused my brain to release chemicals into my body that caused feelings of relaxation and comfort.

  • Thats how you know its VnV Nation :).

  • why do you put the same message under each song,, i got it the first time you like this music

  • @Nyoronnnnnnnnnnnn its called Dopamine bro =D

  • @Nyoronnnnnnnnnnnn Hey, man, keep it on the down low about that stuff. If people start talking like that too much the government will surely make this stuff illegal. :P

  • @Nyoronnnnnnnnnnnn

Well to be real technical, your brain didn't release them into your body, but into your synapses, which are also part of your central nervous system. Which is located in your brain.

  • @Nyoronnnnnnnnnnnn u are awesome sir

  • @Nyoronnnnnnnnnnnn them same series of sounds caused my body to release a warm white-clear chemical into the front of my pants....XD!

  • @mgplaya450 Lmao ....Well I suppose that's a spiritual experience of sorts.

  • @Nyoronnnnnnnnnnnn Dat seratonin

  • Thank you for all the "illusions" you create - some songs make me easier to "focus" :) VnV are good!

    Davide from Italia

  • lol these are nitpicky comments...try finding ANY song out there nowadays that can touch this...

  • Epicenter is really good too! :).

  • Cutting the chorus short seems to serve a musical purpose of some sort. Or maybe I just can't imagine the song differently.

  • Have been a big fan of bands like N.I.N and Rammstein and to be honest the first time i heard this band i was just in total amazement at how good they are their ablitly to produce power strong tracks and yet have a soft sensitive side to them to certainly a very well constructed band every part of them just blends seamlessly together. :)

  • cheers Neron

  • Holy crap, NIN and Rammstein are what lead me to find VNV Nation!!

You think all of them could do a collab well?

  • No. I love them all, but no.

  • Praise the fallen....

  • I remember when Praise the Fallen came out. This song was played so much in clubs that people got sick of it. It's sad because it's such a beautiful song.

  • i am so glad that was before my time, i love appreciating this song just on its own merits. the worst thing that can happen to good music is for it to be played out. feeling your pain there.

  • Let me qualify that. I still think it's a gorgeous song, and the chorus is good, just could've been a bit more pleasing to my inexpert ears. :)

  • I agree about the chorus...it's just not quite right. They should've stretched "never wanted more" out a bit, and pushed the vocals to the front of the mix.

  • i actually agree, i would like the vocals to be a little louder, but all around i think it adds to the strained feeling and electronic quality of the track... like the vocal track is an old message sent between the stars a thousand years ago or an old record played on a phonograph over a trancey beat.

  • Bad chorus? The chorus is the best part of this song. I could almost weep for the beauty of it. I suppose if you can't understand the yearning in that chorus and how powerful it is, you'll never understand why the Irish have been writing the best English language poetry for so long. In any case, I won't try to school you.

  • you guys are sort of mean downrating a fan you know. Constructive criticism is always welcomed. It's the bullshit haters who say nothing but "your band sucks!" and give nothing about what they truly think. although i have to admit I still personlaly find "bad chorus" vague.

  • "Whit this line I'll mark the past as symbol of beggining" Victory Not Vengeance :D

  • the chorus is my favourite part!

  • the chorus wording was good but the way it was expressed couldave been better ya

  • I love this song !, especially starting at 0:58

  • Saw 'em in DC on 22nd, Epicentre, Standing, Beloved and Solitary got the crowd into it and rocked...Mark just beat the shit outta his drum set and Ronan was powerful singing...these guys are great in concert

  • I went to their concert in Philly on the 18th. This was the only song that I wasn't able to sing to. During one of the songs, someone fainted after being accepted on stage. It was startling yet hilarious. Other than that, this song, Chrome and Tomorrow Never Comes were the three that got everyone worked up.

  • Great song, I dont know the band that much though :P although I find that the singer sounds a bit like the singer from joy division or she wants revenge:D 10 stars, oh wait they only have 5 :P O_o?

  • hot

  • Heard this at there concert that I recently attended. Ronan said that they ask you do one of the following when they play this:

    You sing,

    You move,

    Or you dance.

    I choose a combination of 2 and 3.

  • Everyone has their own interpretations, but to me this is absolutely about politicians and other men in power.

They are the ones who bring us nothing, speak of a brighter, prosperous future, and praise destructive military action as honorable and glorious, and put up meaningless statues that encourage others to believe the same.

But in the end, they bring us absolutely nothing.

  • No clue who would thumb you down man, but you are absolutely right.

  • VnV nation has never ceased to impress me, every time i hear tracks from Praise the Fallen i feel like waving a candle... but then i realize my house might burn down so i use my phone instead :')

  • SPEECHLESS One Tree Island

  • yes

  • superb SUPERB! :]

  • yah,, fuC_king gReAt

  • VNV nation is poetry to music

  • Whoop ^_^

  • i love this group. wish theyd tour more tho

  • I love this song

  • This song helped me through a bereavement, a huge thank you to VNV Nation for their always emotive and human lyrics.

  • Yes, VNV Nation is marvelous in helping through the loss of loved ones. I'm glad they helped you.

  • Amen friend, VNV was one of the bands that got me though my tough years of depression, so I owe them a great debt among a few other bands.

  • whats the song with the movie seven sound clips in it?

  • You're probably thinking of "Phucking Phreak" by Velvet Acid Christ.

  • THANK you! I was telling my friend about that song last weekend and couldn't think of the darn title!

  • VNV Nation got really good lyrics... They're so... Meaningful and inspiring... I respect VNV Nation.

  • @OminousWinter me too HEIL VNV NATION!!!!

  • @aka99

    Warum "Heil"?

  • @aka99 I love how tolerant liberals are always telling us how everything should be banned and what we can and can't say. Freedom of speech, motherfuckers.

  • I love this song, it was some resonance for me trying to put the past behind me and make a brighter future...

    Absolutely brilliant.

Thank you for posting this song.

  • te amo gracielaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah illusion is amazing. This one is really great too.

  • illusion has got to be there best song ever!!!

  • Wouldn't say it's the best.

  • does anyone know the name of the sitd version of this song? i used to have it but have no idea of the name?

    i love these lyrics

  • "and if rain brings winds of change.. let it rain on us forever"

  • "Set me aflame and cast me free. Away you wretched world of tethers..."

  • Beautiful, Dark Angel and Beloved really got me in to VNV, though I can't find any song of theirs I'd dislike. Greetings from Nevadaland.

  • HI from Pennslyvania!!!

  • away you wretched world of thethers

  • wonderful!

    greetings from Hamburg, EU

  • Good

  • I love this song!

  • hi there, respect! thank you for posting these. Cheers from Sacramento, CA.

  • this song realy touches me, love it!!

  • And if rain brings winds of change

Let it rain on us forever

I have no doubts from what I've seen

    I have never wanted more.

With this line I'll mark the past

    As a symbol of beginning

I have no doubt from what I've seen

    I have never wanted more.

    E' semplicemente bellissima

  • Beautyful...

  • perfect maaaaan i love this song

  • Their best song of PTF i think

  • I would disagree, I personally think that Honour is the best. This is the second best.

  • see with vnv, its hard to choose which one is better than the other - there all great - it is what it is : )
