@OrbitZombie It's a huge stretch, but maybe it's referencing world war III, when the mason's take control of the entire planet and make a one world government. Enslaving us all in the process. Also the logo is a caldron or torch with a flame, that's the official symbol of the illuminati, also known as the light bearers or the keepers of "true knowledge". Also praise the fallen(PTF) and below that 2012? What's that supposed to mean?
While war is a reoccurring theme in the album it's hardly the main focus.
Ronan Harris [the writer/vocalist] said that the date of 2012 was chosen at random.
He also stated that he created Praise The Fallen as a sort of self-help album during a particularly difficult time in his life. And if you look at the lyrics and listen to the tone of the album you can tell it was very personal for Ronan. He's known to get very emotional when singing the track "Forsaken" in live shows.
VNV Nation has managed to give a 17 year old the inspiration to continue a story meant to show more than what the human spirit can do, but what it cannot as well. Nothing can ever be perfect, and VNV Nation is one of the few bands out there that can capture the essence of that wisdom nearly perfectly.

@knnyphph Though your attempt to sound intelligent .. You failed... Christianity is NOT a organized religion. Thats like to say if you believe in god that is a religion. Christianity is a faith.. Catholicism, Jehovah Witnesses , and/or Judaism IS a religion. You can if fact be a Christian and against ORGANIZED religion, as I am....I agree all music can be left to interpretation, but after reading many articles and interviews on VNV, my conclusion was that it seems their mindset may be Christian.

@77twitch uhmm VNV actually relaesed more than 3 albums: 1.Advance and Follow (1990!) 2. Praise the Fallen 3. Empires 4. Futureperfect 5. Matter and Form 6. Judgement 7. Of faith powert and glory... you should check out the "Burning Empires EP" aswell, it contains some of the most popular songs like Further, some "Solitary" remixes, some "Standing" remixes and songs like Forsaken (vocal version) and Saviour (VOX)...
@PointOfLight1 everything is organized down to every atom and molecule of our physical world. God is organized. Jesus himself said that you will know his followers by their display of love amongst themselves and for non believers. GOD is LOVe.....

I m actually not into your god or religion/organisation talk... sorry. Maybe you should learn how youtube is organized, so you can avoid to write to the wrong people ;-) Peace!
@MrPolar73 Thoughtless parroting of dogma and 'faith' is obnoxious. Between the ad nauseum Christians and smug atheists it is like being in a swarm of angry, squawking, pooping, fighting, stupid birds.
Google the lyrics.
What are they REALLY saying here about religion? ( Hint, check the last part )
Get off your religious high horse and stop preaching on youtube so I can see comments about the music, FFS. ( Same for you, non-Christians )
This is the track that helped inspire me to walk away from a self-destructive past and rebuild myself anew. This meant severing ties with some people whom I love dearly, but had only their interests and agendas in mind and Damien be damned. Thank you Mr. Harris and Mr. Jackson!
@pmode101 I would call them spiritual then religious and if anything they would be catholic since Ronan is Irishm but does any of that really matter...?
@pmode101 Christianity IS an organized religion. They are against religion, but people who belong to various religions can find commonality in their music. Their music can be subjectively applied to whatever religion or spiritual ideology (or lack thereof) the audience wants.
VNV nation is one of the greatest groups EVER! what they do is special. the can sum up emotion into sound, and that is very rare for a band to be able to do.
@redcorndef Perhaps you're beginning to glimpse the deeper truth that music, like life in itself, is not always about happy endings, sunshine, free dinners and laughter. Besides, what's so depressing about wishing for change? Without change, you stagnate like a standing pool of water.
@minlit So because someone has a different taste in music to you, that means your preference is better and theirs is worse? Don't you realise people say exactly the same about this kind of music?
@Nyoronnnnnnnnnnnn Hey, man, keep it on the down low about that stuff. If people start talking like that too much the government will surely make this stuff illegal. :P
Well to be real technical, your brain didn't release them into your body, but into your synapses, which are also part of your central nervous system. Which is located in your brain.
Have been a big fan of bands like N.I.N and Rammstein and to be honest the first time i heard this band i was just in total amazement at how good they are their ablitly to produce power strong tracks and yet have a soft sensitive side to them to certainly a very well constructed band every part of them just blends seamlessly together. :)
I remember when Praise the Fallen came out. This song was played so much in clubs that people got sick of it. It's sad because it's such a beautiful song.
i am so glad that was before my time, i love appreciating this song just on its own merits. the worst thing that can happen to good music is for it to be played out. feeling your pain there.
I agree about the chorus...it's just not quite right. They should've stretched "never wanted more" out a bit, and pushed the vocals to the front of the mix.
i actually agree, i would like the vocals to be a little louder, but all around i think it adds to the strained feeling and electronic quality of the track... like the vocal track is an old message sent between the stars a thousand years ago or an old record played on a phonograph over a trancey beat.
Bad chorus? The chorus is the best part of this song. I could almost weep for the beauty of it. I suppose if you can't understand the yearning in that chorus and how powerful it is, you'll never understand why the Irish have been writing the best English language poetry for so long. In any case, I won't try to school you.
you guys are sort of mean downrating a fan you know. Constructive criticism is always welcomed. It's the bullshit haters who say nothing but "your band sucks!" and give nothing about what they truly think. although i have to admit I still personlaly find "bad chorus" vague.
Unfortunatly, this song lack a good chorus. The intro is so butifull (specially the signals edit version), and the vers i good, but the chorus is so bad that it almost makes me vant to play foreward. Too sad. Still Love Vnv. And so great to se them evolve, and write so much better songs today...

Great song, I dont know the band that much though :P although I find that the singer sounds a bit like the singer from joy division or she wants revenge:D 10 stars, oh wait they only have 5 :P O_o?
Everyone has their own interpretations, but to me this is absolutely about politicians and other men in power.

@aka99 I love how tolerant liberals are always telling us how everything should be banned and what we can and can't say. Freedom of speech, motherfuckers.

I love this song, it was some resonance for me trying to put the past behind me and make a brighter future...
Absolutely brilliant.

Beautiful, Dark Angel and Beloved really got me in to VNV, though I can't find any song of theirs I'd dislike. Greetings from Nevadaland.

And if rain brings winds of change
Let it rain on us forever
I have no doubts from what I've seen
I have never wanted more.
With this line I'll mark the past
As a symbol of beginning
I have no doubt from what I've seen
I have never wanted more.
E' semplicemente bellissima
