  • If you want to listen to the classics, go listen to the many videos on youtube with classical pianists. For its INTENTS and PURPOSES, I think it did a marvelous job

  • I liked it so much! Awesome!

  • Bizarre responses to this one. I enjoyed it myself

it was as described in the title, and not just some

sound-bite played alongside another dance song.

    Well done.

  • Great melody on top! Really great! This is how it SHOULD HAVE sounded like, had JS BAch more fingers to play on the piano that is. Very flowing, the distorted guitar dosen't sound too distorted, the great reverb on the drums, especially open hihat really brings out a great aura!

  • Thank Bach for leaving us wonderful pieces to work with. I liked it

  • This is great!!! I love the first 90 seconds the most!so great. can use it as a soundtrack for great movies:)

    well done!!!!

  • This is great!!! I love the first 90 seconds the most!so great. can use it a soundtrack for great movies:)

    well done!!!!

  • i loved it.. i couldn't help but smile

    .^_^.

  • i like this

  • I love the part at 1:02

  • You have defaced a masterpiece. Forget about the lack of originality, this is criminal!

  • @paripe No. Es mejor no perder el tiempo con un comentario purista.

  • No soy un purista, pero si la versión no aporta absolutamente nada al original, mejor dejarla como estaba.

  • I confess that I was sceptic regarding this when i heard the first seconds. But there is some things of good taste that you added. And let's face it! With a masterpiece like this, what is difficult is to make it worse. I am an analysis teacher, and I've come back from a lesson with this prelude as a subject. It is an amazing work regarding voice leading and preparing the climax. Study-it in detail if you already didn't do it.

  • I love Bach and approve of any attempt to interpret him including this one. So there.

  • Those such as robertgift who object to anybody doing this with Bach, are only showing their ignorance.

Dudes, J.S.Bach learned the same way algallego is learning: imitate something from somebody you like. A lot of his early works (from age 15 to maybe 20) are imitations and "remixes" of earlier composers.

Do you guys have any idea how many of J.S.Bach's earliest pieces (mostly created when he was between 15 and 20) were in imitation or paraphrase or "remix" of some earlier composer?

  • It is completely wrong to say the remix destroyed this piece. The artist is merely using tools that were unavailable to Bach but would have been used by Bach if they had been available to him a few hundred years ago.

  • Well to be a true artist.. is taking a classic master piece and making it your own. And you did such a good job. :) I love it!

  • @Rebecca2442 Rebecca, thank you for taking the time to listen and to leave such a kind comment! Glad it wasn't too harsh on your ears as it has been with some! ;-)

  • when i read the title , i just thougt 'hell no!!!'

but it isn't as bad , as i exepted , its great actually :)

  • @quitanilam Thank you for not letting the title scare you away, Q! Enjoy your day!

  • omg wtf, you raped that wonderful piece

  • @akbeatz88 Here we go again.... another guy that thinks I'm a classical "song rapist." :-♪

  • @algallego No I would't use that term to describe what you did to that piece . However 'massacred' seems appropriate .

  • @jimbo5009 ..........aaaaawwwwwmmmmmm.....YAWN!

  • The main part of the song is being a little overpowered, but this was a very great piece!

  • @MrFavorite01 Yeah, I wanted to make it more of an undergirding to the other parts, but I realize that I should at least give it equal power and presence to the other instrumental parts going on at various times throughout the piece. Perhaps a re-mix of a remix is in order. ;-)

  • @algallego Don't worry, it's a great composition. The mix of modern instruments with classic actually sounds nice in here. You know what you're doing.

  • A great piece, an amazing, incredible combination of sounds. I'm stunned, I'm, I'm absolutely, in love, with this. Congratulations.

  • @MrsBrightside8792 NIce to hear you enjoyed the piece, MrsB! Thank you for stopping by and venturing such a kind compliment and comment! Have a great day!

  • i'm sure it was a titanic effort to put remix in the title....

  • This sounds great! Thank you.

  • This sounds great! Thank you.

  • HORRIBLE PLZ DONT REMIX THE CLASSICS PLZ!!

  • @pianoorganman Your opinion, at best, is only going to encourage me to suggest to you not to listen to anything that is remixed, especially if you do not like them. I suppose I could go one step further by at least including in the title/description that it is a remix. However, the only elements that are those of a remix. would be the drum loops-- I didn't particularly care for them, but not being an avid drum programmer I didn't have the time to compose custom ones that were more suitable..

  • @algallego All of the other tracks were individually notated and scored. While it is not what I believe to be my best work, it was an assignment for my Electronic Music Class that I had limited amounts of time to spend on the parts I transcribed from Lari Goss' piece by ear and then composed additional parts of my own to go along with Bach's original. Again, not my best potential, but I intend to rework it if ever I have time once again. Thanks for your comments!

  • @algallego I'll be uploading Lari Goss' version soon, if I can get permission. You'll perhaps be able to appreciate the more mellowness of his version without the brass, strings, and other synths I added to my version.

  • I find it really beautiful :) relaxing and original.

    well done!

  • Inaudible.

  • @TheAtma Your opinion is just that--- an opinion that is not going

to carry any weight in determining my personal enjoyment of musical

    exploration and composition.

  • @algallego You're under the assumption that I was claiming this work to be inaudible to the vast majority, rather than just my self.

My opinion is fact, as it is inaudible to me. Perfect pitch is both a curse and a blessing. Listening to this is literally painful.

Others may not notice it, therefore it isn't inaudible to them.

    Now does that carry weight?

  • @TheAtma Perfect pitch can be developed just as it can be a natural gift-- either way, your perception or opinion of things does not make it reality or fact to others. An opinion is subjective-- if you studied the score to the composition you'd see that every pitch/tone is in the key of the piece as there is nothing atonal in my rendition.

Also, your sense of perfect pitch is neither my curse nor blessing; therefore, it has no weight in matters of how I perceive the piece.

  • @algallego I would agree that my counterpoint needs some work in the areas of balancing the dynamics of the individual instrumentation. For now, I can only offer you my apology as it is not my area of expertise. However, it will remain a subject of continued study for me as I continue to explore my appreciations of music. Thank you for your comments! Have a great day!

  • @algallego Once again 'll state that it is inaudible to me, and this is fact, not opinion. It should be noted, once more, that I haven't claimed that it's inaudible to everyone; perhaps just me.

Also, the micro-tonality of the bending pitches, albiet initially in the proper key, is what is utterly painful to me, especially when mixed with the harsh timbre of the voice you chose.

Perfect pitch cannot be developed, rather, relative pitch can be developed with training.

    Nothing personal. =)

  • @TheAtma Actually, linguistic studies have indicated that the use of pitch in language is indeed developed as with Asian languages that are based on pitch accuracy and recognition. I studied language correlations to musical pitches or intonations while I was attending the Defense Language Institute-- developmental differences between children and adults are such that a child has more accurate discernment of tones, hence a development of absolute pitch over time and language fluency or mastery.

  • @algallego Perhaps, you'll forgive my overly pedantic response. Case studies have proven the development of absolute pitch versus relative pitch in those who demonstrate exemplary analytical skill at a young age, yet had no previous ability to match tones with those played on an instrument. Many singers have the ability to accurately intone parts from sheet music without first needing to "tune" their voices to an accurately tempered instrument and can identify pitches by name when heard.

  • @TheAtma Piss off, stop trying to pump up your ego by bashing someone up. You have perfect pitch, so what, so you find youtube vids that you can underhandedly brag about on, lol...

  • @lateralmobile

My rash, and rather hasty comment, was posted before I had finished listening to the entire composition. The moment I hear the introductory phrasing and choice of voice, I immediately thought this was yet another overly simplistic and obligatory "remix" of a classical piece that in no way needs to be "remixed".

However, I decided to listen to the whole composition, and it actually demonstrates a fair amount of theory. I appreciate it now that I have listened to it.

  • @algallego There's no need to apologize. Your work is entirely valid, and to the vast majority of individuals, I imagine, it would suffice.

I rather enjoyed how the work developed toward the end.

But the timbre of the many of the voices are still fairly harsh. At least, to me.

This shows potential, and the more you do stuff like this, the better you'll get at it. Don't let overly pedantic whiners like me get you down.

  • @TheAtma A person with perfect pitch isn't going to find this "painful", as I don't, however, an asshole with perfect pitch might...

  • Calm down folks. Those bashing him because the song is not original need to understand that this is a valid method of learning music composition. It's 2010, and people should be able to use technology to compose their ideas together. I find it beautiful something i wouldn't download, but i can still appreciate eh work.

  • Wonderful. Thanks. Pay no attention the the jealous trolls. At least you're giving it a go, and I truly think JS would have loved to have had access to a synth. I bought 'Switched on Bach' back in 1968 and remember thinking exactly the same thing then. And let's face it - all musical works are in some way derivative of others. Keep it coming.

  • ok...after listening to it again, I actually love your version! :]

  • *shudder*

  • @JohnMcDonnellThe3rd Welcome to the "Terror & Horror Fest!"

  • Wow, this is almost literally raping Bach.

  • this song, no joke, just put me in the best mood for the moment:]

  • @TheMissArsenic Happy to hear it made your moment better, MissA! Thanks for taking the time to venture a hearing and a comment!

  • :( do not like.

  • @5imian Don't worry; I don't expect everyone to like it. In fact, I have no expectations from anyone. It's just for those who enjoy it to enjoy it, and for those who don't to either hear and steer clear, or just let it be, with or without remarks. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

  • I adore the original, but this is a pretty cool little remix of it! I'll be open-minded, unlike some of the other commentors here, and say that you did a pretty good job on this!

  • I thought it was nice :)

  • SO BAD

  • Well done for first playing homage to this unique piece. I think Bach would be very pleased and feel pride to know of you and hear what you did.

  • think this has some genius arrangement and ideas in here. i'm a musician myself and love to see artists use their imagination. great job!

  • @isaacdeatherage Thank you, Isaac! Can't take much credit being I'm third in line after Bach, Lari Goss-- then simple old me and my simple music ideas. Thanks for taking time to listen!

  • @algallego ... I shouldn't neglect to mention the countless others who have done this far greater justice than my simple old music skills would allow. That being said, I'm learning to be one who doesn't despise humble beginnings. ;-)

  • @algallego it's the ideas that are important i think! once you do music more and more getting perfect is just an effect of time :) your style reminds me a little of Henry Mancini. swing by my music... try out my arrangement of Unchained Melody sometime.

  • @isaacdeatherage Isaac, I checked out your arrangement of 'Unchained Melody' and thought the piece you played was beautifully done... but had I heard it on the radio before knowing what it was, I don't think I would have heard/made the correlation with 'Unchained Melody'. I just don't hear the original melody, but I loved the piano arrangement nonetheless! Your style reminded me of Clayderman meets Yanni or Tesh, with a hint of Yiruma. Enjoyed your musically eloquent expressiveness on keys!

  • @algallego it's the ideas that are important i think! once you do music more and more getting perfect is just an effect of time :) your style reminds me a little of Henry Mancini. swing by my music... try out my arrangement of Unchained Melody sometime.

  • u gotta be kidding me -.-

  • @johnarious I kid you not! ;-)

  • it's crap

  • @jarmoo ...and you've uploaded your rendition exactly where now???

  • this is awful

  • Good job! I liked it. Do not listen to ignorants kids who claim their ears have been raped.

  • Tal vez esto sea algo mas que horrible.

  • @paradoxicus ¿Quizás vuestro capacidad de oír es horrible?

  • I like it. You really don't see enough alternate ways to enjoy classical pieces like this. Nicely done.

  • My ears were raped? Hmm... i'd say it was a pleasant romp then ... Not a rape at all, but a swoon. Very nicely done.

  • I may be going against the grain , But I think people miss the point with music .... Its ok saying stop messing up classics and write your own music ! .... The very point is music is there to be enjoyed by everyone ... And as much as I love the origional , I think this mix is FANNTASTIC !!!! , great work Algallego :))

    8Thumbs .......

  • @8thumbs2fingers The with music of that time is this: JS Bach knew precisely what he was doing and what he was communicating through his music down to every key stroke. His music was organized just so. To alter it in any way is to bastardize the whole of it.

  • @MJimiD Not at all. Bach's work is (was) his own. He wrote it the way he wanted it, had it performed the way he wanted it. And then he died. A long time ago. If you want to hear it the way he wanted it, fantastic! There are conductors out there who use period instruments in their orchestras and everything. But when someone takes those public-domain works and makes them their own, it does not detract from the original in any way.

  • I think you're a pretty musical.

But I think the piece isn't great remixed. I really like the piece because it's simple and calm, with all the other instruments it doesnt have that special calm thing anymore.

But keep on working. U just have to learn the pieces: what the composer wanna tell us with the piece.

  • Write your own music rather than damage this wonderful work.

One could claim that Gounod did the same thing.

    But his alteration was glorius.

Think I detected a little of his work, here, also.

  • @robertgift You are one narrow minded fucker huh? A true music apreciator should not ever say any song is bad, and if you really have to just say it has to get better and point out where. However, there are things that are music, others that are just a horrible combination of sounds, and this is music.

  • I don't mean to be offensive, but I feel like my ears have been raped in so many ways : /

  • That's what happens when you walk your ears down a dark alleyway at night-- you should know better not to go where your ears lead you! ;-)

  • hehe : )

I don't mean to slag off your effort though, obviously the right thing to do would be to either come with constructive critique, or shut up

  • @MesserschmittBf109g6 all comments are welcome regardless of how they come. I've made the mistake before of getting into it with another poster in the past, but over what???-- it was all over nothing but a three minute tune. Life's too short to be bothered that much! Have a good one!

  • this is great!

  • This is nice and unique interpretation of Bach Prelude in C major but you're not the first one, Gounod also "ruined this beautiful piece of music" many years ago. lol

  • Thank you for your appreciation of my "Ode to Bach's Ruination!" ;-)

  • congrats you just ruined a beautiful piece of music.

  • hardly...

  • B.E.A.U.TIFUL!! :)

  • Puiku...bravo... nepakartojamas skaičius bisų.

  • Precioso!!

    Bravo.!!

  • 5/5 for creativity in the music. But 1/5 for maintaining the basic melodic/harmonic idea of bach's. Sorry if that is harsh but is my -opinion- and if you don't like harsh opinions, well too bad they are and will always be out there. Other than that though good job, could use some cleaning up though, I think perhaps remixing the volume levels may help bring out a clearer idea.

  • Appreciate your input. You'll just have to get used to people being indifferent towards your opinion because that's reality. You know what opinions are like--- we all have one and they all stink!

  • But that's just your opinion.

  • ...besides the only one who could impart to me the man's true ideas would be the man himself. So, quit trying to be his transcendent descendant protégé and move on to something new. Sorry if you don't like harsh responses, but they're out there as well! ;-)

  • Interesting arrangement. I like it.

  • This is very cool you should have a much higher rating!5/5!

  • this is neat... no offense to u at all. but the piano version i like better.

  • No offense taken ;-)

  • I wanna find the music sheets. Which movement is this?

  • 1st

  • Thanks. Yes. I am waiting for your new version.

Please, do not forget to notify me when you have it ready here.

  • Don't hip it up! It was fine the way it was.

  • Sometimes you have to try something new in order to appreciate things in another flavor. This is one of those Bach pieces that transcends time and lends itself well to other styles. Altough, I must say that I do love the original as well! There's plenty of other people on here doing it the way you prefer; so if you can't appreciate it, there are other renditions on youtube to which you may listen.

  • After listening a few more times, I do think it is cool. Thanks for your gracious reply.

  • Thank you for your comments and your musical appreciation, MA!

  • Did you know that there are many pieces of classical music that are very unharmonic and condsidered masterpieces. The Barroque era comes to mind.I find this piece very harmonic. If you can do this better please post,I would love to hear it.

  • Of course i know, i study classical music. By harmony i mean the east tonal musical theory. I think when u talked about unharmonics in barroque u were talking about dissonances? Of course i like dissonances, every post XVI century dominated well dissonances and modulations, when taliking about atonal music i like stravinsky and several moderns composers a lot.

  • 2/5, I think if ppl have time to waste destroing classical pieces, they should be doing something better of their lifes, or at least, learning composition properly.

  • You have your opinion.I for one find this very beautiful, almost more so than the classic which I have been playing with joy for a long time. But I for one like this remix.

    5 Stars.

  • Lol, how do you think people get better at composing? In my opinion it is by exploring possibilities, and not being so narrow-minded. I think this guy did a great job.

  • I've learnt this song on piano. It gives me some heart ease. Very nice song and pictures.. I´m fan ;)

  • Thank you somalec! It's given me great pleasure to read that people are enjoying it. Thanks again for taking the time to listen!

  • well.... I am learning this on the piano and was about to click off... but in fact it puts a rather nice spin on the tune.. peaceful.. fade out at the end could be improved... otherwise really nice..

  • Thanks for the comments, BD! I especially appreciate your statement that "it puts a rather nice spin on the tune!" The percussion fade in the end was intentional as I thought it soothing to hear the rhythmic fade into oblivion of the hi-hat and shaker; however, I'd be interested to hear your suggestions on an improvement on the fade, such as which point in time to begin the fade and other comments you might have! Thanks for taking the time to listen to the sequence! Have a great day!

  • Sempurna! Thank you...

  • Yeah this is cool, I like the additional horn and string parts you've added. Good job

  • veeeeeery nice

  • Thank you, Schaezen!

  • wow this is well done like i'm surprised based on the comments it sounded like you desecrate something but I feel you just giving it a new perspective and its just as enjoyable

    thz for sharing :D!

was it hard / difficult work to arrange?

  • Ansel, thanks for your kind comments! I wasn't aiming to desecrate so I appreciate your acknowledgment and that you enjoyed it! It wasn't difficult to arrange because most of the arrangement had already been done by Lari Goss.... I suppose the bulk of the work came in the sense that I had to transcribe each part from what I heard in his recording, then, add my own parts in aftwerwards--so it was more of a time consumer than anything else. I enjoyed it, but the drums track needs improvement!

  • Perhaps as a reply to this video, I'll upload Lari Goss' arrangement so you can hear his arrangement as compared to the minor things I added in afterwards.

  • terrible

  • horrible!!!!!! ;-)

  • Wth?

  • Interesting. I like it, though it got a bit jazzy at 1:25 and I'm not so big on jazz.

  • The funny thing, I'm not all that into jazz myself and don't even think I was attempting to add a jazz flavor to the arrangement, but I suppose you never know how things will be perceived. ;-)

  • Your arrangement is very nice, I really like ! I think it is a good idea to modernize some songs, and your job is remarkable. It is true, the song without arrangement is also beautiful, but this interpretation is very interesting. The music is also more expressive (sorry if I have done spelling mistakes, I am french).

  • Quentinhielle,

Thank you for your kind comments! Your English is actually pretty good-- far better than my French, so no sweat. Thanks for spending some of your time listening!

  • no offense, but it would kill Bach xD

  • None taken; however, unless you borrowed HG Wells' time machine and could go back and personally know Bach, it's hardly a conclusion you can make so matter of factly. I didn't notate this sequence in an attempt to rouse and resurrect him furiously from his grave with the intent to have it kill him!

  • ok I cannot say that it would kill Bach... but i prefer Bach without arrangement.

However, leaving that aside, it's a nice arrangement.

  • I can certainly understand and appreciate your preference! Thank you for the comments and taking time to listen! Have a great day!

  • Without a doubt, _the_ best remix..

  • stupendo xD

  • I like this.. :)

Your string synths are pretty raw.. :D

  • 本当にありがとう Domo Arigato, Matsura! I'm not sure I understand what it is you mean by raw?? ;-) Thanks for listening!

  • bad

  • What's so bad about it?

  • curse this c-prelud i cant here it anymore on every wedding they want to have the ave maria with this them and every child who is learning piano ishere with a tape of it and by the way you can do it in a better modern way like this sound...

  • Gran uniòn del pasado y el presente. 5* y en mi favoritos , por supuesto.

  • ¡Gracias por tal clase comenta y por colocando este video entre sus favoritos!

¡Con el favor de Dios, tenga un gran día!

  • I tried ones to think what I could write to say, for how much this song to me person, about 44 years has signified. This is terribly the best. I tremble every spot if I hear it. honestly. I love many works of Bach, but this interpretation belongs to best ones. Unfortunately, this mp.3 I do not have, a pity

  • javiom, I'd gladly share with you the *.mp3 of this song. Just send me a message with your email address and I'll send it to you! Have a great day and thanks for listening!

  • I like this a lot! It reminds me of Vangelis' music for Blade Runner, but of course combined with the great music of Bach! :)

  • Thank you, Q! ;-)

  • Thanks!

  • ;-)

  • i don't like this intrepertation!

  • That's ok! I don't believe anyone is forcing you to do so.

  • I really liked it. and said before it seems like it might be wrong but later on in really fits in with the music.

    I love it!

  • Thank you, Tytlar! ;-)

  • Everything in me says that this should be sacralidge but for some damn annoying reason its not and works really well. Very nice.

  • *clap clap

  • **Thank You!!** ;-)

  • ABSOLUTELY fabulous. You put a nice touch to one of my favorite pieces. Nicely done ; )

  • Thank you, Max! I count it a pleasure to know that people are enjoying this take on Bach! Thanks again for your kind comment! Have a great day! :-)

  • Well done :)

    Keep up the good work!

  • Thank you Llp! I appreciate you taking the time to listen! I'll check out your vids soon! Have a great day!

  • very, very good. i dont like so much technology in my classical music but u won me over

  • laclair,

Thank you for the kind note ;-) -- you make me feel like I've won the lottery by your kindness! May your appreciation for and enjoyment of diverse music grow with the greatest profundity, thereby you would have one more among countless joys in your lifetime! God bless you! Have a great day!

  • Incredible :D

  • Thank you, Michael!

  • THAT WAS MAGNIFICENT!

  • Bach truly had a gift, 1992peter! Thank you for the kind compliment and for taking time to listen! Have a great day!
