But that sounds like another typical justification for Israel to do whatever it wants. How can there not be any other choice? What about the other side? what choices are they left with? Why does there have to be domination? Why can there be no other expectations of Israel? And bringing up the holocaust as a reminder is getting old. I agree Israel thinks it cannot do justice to Palestinian rights and grievances. But not because it has to 'defend' itself against an 'invasion' or a 'holocaust', but because they do not want to spoil the pure Jewish state in the holy land. Finkelstein accuses Israel of "playing the card of the Holocaust" to justify its policiy of occupation and the rest. Although I have heard all kinds of justifications by Israelis, for the settlements, the wall, the harassment etc., and although I profoundly disagree with those justifications, I have never heard any Israeli politician or political ideologist invoking the Holocaust for that matter.

Finkelstein's accusation of Israel exploiting the Holocaust is hateful to any intelligent person.

Finkelstein repeats the same things over and over again for years. His mind is fixed on one set of ideas an that's it. He can't see the whole picture anymore. No wonder everything is so simple in his eyes. In this, he reminds me of Karl Marx and his equations.

But things are not simple at all when human beings are involved.

He is a brilliant historian and an expert on the Middle East conflict. He has integrity in his views and changing minds does not change the ultimate truth. He has examined all the evidence, through many years of critical analysis. Israel is a terrorist state, and should make peace, as time is running out.
