  • One thing that always surprises me is how natural they move with that complicated coreography while singing at the same time. Especially Mary. Looks like second nature to her but they must have work hours to achieve that effect.

  • "Our business is singing and tonight we're gonna take care of business."

    - Diana Ross

  • MARY WILSON STEALS THE SHOW!!!!!!

  • thay are awesome

  • When I met Bob Mackey, all I could ask was, "What was it like designing these

gowns for the Supremes, and what was Cindy Birdsong's bra size?!?!?!?!?!

    He laughed and revealed it.

Me, walking on cloud 9 with this tidbit.

  • Pure. Perfect. Classic.

Oh-oh..And now my wife's looking over my shoulder and said, "I want one of those dresses"......sorry..........gotta go hide the credit card....more later.

  • Her voice was so different back then. I really liked it much better when she had that higher pitched voice.

  • zebra gum!!!

  • I agree with all the comments here. Mary was right at her peak during this appearance. Wow. Just something. Mary knew her role with the group; and she managed herself with Barry Gordy and Diana. As such, she enjoyed a long and financially successful career. Smart.

  • Excellent performance. See the moves of the girls, so exciting and of natural simulteneity, these are real musicians. Who could achieve this today?

  • AWESOME! MAGICAL! American pop never had and will never have anything close to The Supremes. Look at them closely here. That's why they live on after so many decades...

  • Diana looks dangerously thin here. I'm glad she started gaining weight in the 70's for her health's sake.

  • what a classic...what good music that was...meaningful and to the heart

  • shes not gasping for air, its obvious she is doing it on purpose.. just a little cute thing she does with her voice.. sorry singing coach lady.. im sure you have alot of great knowledge, but i think you may be wrong about this one.. Peace

  • If you were there watching them ,i don't see how anyone could take their eyes off Mary Wilson she is beautiful !

  • @smashingtimemod You are right. Mary is considered one of the most beautiful women of her generation. She was a doll. I remember when I saw them in Chicago at the Opera House in 1968, I was sitting on the second row front and I kept thinking: "Wow, the one on the right is a dynamo but too skinny; the one on left is sooo cute but kind of big; the one in the middle is perfection, face, body and personality. (I was 10 years old and didn't know their names)

  • GO ON BOY GET OUTTA MY LIFE

  • Stop!!! You break my heart. GOD Bless

  • Dazzling!!

  • @bigbear39ca I think this may be one of the rare occasions that i agree with you. She kicked up a notch.

  • they were young and beautiful i alwys like them ' those were my days being young ''reynner16

  • @0:14 They cut loose....get it supremes

  • MARY WILSON LOOKS FANTASTIC HERE

  • Fabulous performance! There's one thing that always kinda confused me, that was Diana's insistence on smiling no matter what she was singing. "Stop! In the Name of Love" is such a sad song, but she's just smiling away. :) Still all three sound amazing. I must admit, I absolutely LOVE how Diana is interrupted by huge applause for Mary and Cindy. :) I don't mind the hiccup thing, I think it suits her.

  • Honey we's terrific

  • DANGGGG. SO BEAUTIFUL. even DIANA'S shoulders are SEXY. they proved that women didn't have to be half naked to be desirable!!!

  • Mary and Diana Looks very Happy here..CINDY SEEMS 2 BE THE ODD 1 OUT

  • i wonder what flo was thinking at this time.

  • Why this exeptional show "T.B.C." is not aviable

on video or dvd im in search from 45 yaers and

i recieve no one respons its a shame for the

    music industries !

  • @1whoopie I wish I knew...this show would be a top selling DVD !! Maybe someday it will be released.I'll the 1st to buy it :)

    A great show.

  • 3:20 is sooooo cute!!!! Luv this!!!!

  • i think if miss ross took off her wig, earrings and dress they would wigh more than her!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • I love this. I remember this. Do you have the beginning where they sing the title song "T.C.B" if you do can you post it, plus, where did you get this would love a copy. One of the greatest female groups. They had it all especially for the era. Remember black women were not on the map for beauty and glamour, the Supremes proved they 'black women" could do it. Thanks for the post.

  • HAVE HUNTED ALL OVER FOR THIS CLIP. I LOVE IT! THANKS USSPIKE FOR SHARING THIS. I'M VERY GRATEFUL.

  • If I'm not mistaken, I believe Florence Ballard was the one who always said, "Honey, we is terrific". This is a wonderful video. I remember staying up late (for a 6 year old) to watch this. I don't think I stayed awake through the whole show but I loved, really loved, those gowns. It was a wonderful time.

  • Florence already gone!

  • Check out the arms thrown in the air after Stop in the name of love. People think Diana alone always through her arms in front of the other members. Not true, check out 1:04-7 they all equally raise their arms in triumph..a move totally shared by the entire group. diana is still doing the gesture. folks think its her Ego which she does have(we got one)..jus wish folks would remember she was jus as much a supreme and still as she is diana ross.her an mary are the supremes.

  • Classic !! Diana Ross ! Mary Wilson ! Cindy Birdsong ! They were the best ! TCB was a great tv special ! I have the album !

  • The best girl group of all time ! True class ! Noone could ever top them ! Wonderful Diana Ross ! Mary Wilson ! Cindy Birdsong ! Great tv special back in the day ! Remember it well !! I still have the album !!!!

  • ...like Scherrie and Lynda were gonna compete with this on the RTL tour. Yeah, right.

  • DANGGGGGGGGGGGGG. THEY LOOK SO GOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDD. i thought things were so supposed to get BETTER as time goes by. NO group has come close to DETHRONING the ALMIGHTY DR&THESUPREMES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Supremes are and remain, at least in memory, the very best. I agree, it would be great to have them together again...but if not, get this on DVD!!!

  • Diana, Mary & Cindy were the bomb. True talent. As a Latina I hope my Black Brothers and sisters recognize what the Supremes & Tempatations did for Black music & Entertainment. In the troubled and turbulent 60's they managed to get on TV, their own show and kicked butt. To date nobody has done a TV show liked this with all that talent. Diana, like her or not paved the way for all women black or white. She had looks, style, talent, could sing, dance & act. The Temps, harmony & soul. Greatest!

  • i agree, but there were so many others that also help break down those barriers that jim crow, et al. put up.

  • Did Michael copy Diana's hiccups, or what?

  • Game recognize game. :) I like to think of it as Mike's Tip of the Hat to La Ross.

  • i think on all these TCB clips you can really hear Diana's voice! she really can sing i think, i mean i know she can sing, but her voice hs a really qood quality i think in these clips.and great showman ship, too!

  • I remember seeing this program!....wheres the beginning part?....I really enjoyed this too...it was all very entertaining too!

  • Diana seems to use the hiccup technique LOL.. too much in this video

  • You're right. She does it alot. It's her way of sounding 'cutesy wootsey' if you will. In the early days, there were 'adults' around to keep her from doing that and also other annoing things like bugging out her eyes. Later on, she was given more freedom to pretty much do what she wanted. I still like her and the girls anyway!

  • @usspike FIRST, THANK YOU FOR POSTING. but can you post this performance at the end that leads into their introduction of THE TEMPTATIONS.>

btw: i LOVE the early DIANA, BIG MOUTH, BUGGED EYES. you just couldn't take your eyes off of her.

  • If I get around to it, I will post the show intro with both groups singing 'TCB', the Supremes segment, and their Temptations introduction.

  • The ever COOL and CLASSY Mary!

    Thank you for this.

    Los

    NYC

  • @usspike Do you have the full intro by chance

  • @usspike dummy me,,,I thought she actually had the hiccups

  • @LeilaniHelepololei lol she do

  • @LeilaniHelepololei Now that you guys mention it. I remember seeing The Supremes at the Opera House in Chicago and from the time they came out singing I noticed that "hiccup" thing on the lead singer. I couldn't figure out what the hell she was doing but it was great. Later on in the show I "discovered" Mary. I had never seen such a beautiful body, face and stage presence. I was 12 at the time and came out of that theater totally in love.

  • @LeilaniHelepololei That hiccup sound is somewhat annoying but seemed to work for her back then. Martha Reeves was so much better of a singer but the Supremes were supreme and fabulous anyway.. They are glamorous and beautiful as well.

  • @LeilaniHelepololei couldnt she take something for those hiccups?

  • @LeilaniHelepololei Yea she obviously taught Michael that one as well!!! lol

  • @LeilaniHelepololei I guess now we know where Michael Jackson got it from LOL

  • I know the supremes may never perfom together again but wouldn't it be great if this special was released on dvd and diana and mary and the remaining member of the temptations and perhaps some of the surviving musicians could do the commentary/voice over and give us some details of the filming of this historical event.

  • Check out Diana's foot at 3:42.:) Every move punctuating the music. Pure showmanship

  • Great music & performances. I love up-tempo live versions of their classic material.

    Thanks for posting.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS! This aired six years before I was born, but I wish i could have watched it when it originally aired in 1968. The girls were fabulous in this special.

  • @lloydj74 I was 11 or maybe 12 when this came out. i had heard the supremes on the radio but i had never really seen them. i was mesmorised when i watched this on tv. where the heck is the dvd of this special!!! it's american television history for goodness sake!

  • THANK U!!!! I've been looking for this for so long! OMG A real Treat!!!
