Thuston moore was a late arrival to experimental guitar playing Fred Frith ,Derek Bailey G F Fitzgerald and Ian Staples of RED SQUARE to name but a few in England alone, started in the 60's As for the ignorant comments, a picture of a braincell would double their intelligence. Good luck to the youg chap playing.
avant-garde –noun 1. the advance group in any field, esp. in the visual, literary, or musical arts, whose works are characterized chiefly by unorthodox and experimental methods. –adjective 2. of or pertaining to the experimental treatment of artistic, musical, or literary material. 3. belonging to the avant-garde: an avant-garde composer. 4. unorthodox or daring; radical. You don't have to be doing something new to be avant garde, by that logic, avant garde died long ago.
so your doing something new? sorry to break it to you but Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) has been doing this 25 years, the only exception is he does it in a song, and it sounds good.
@mgamble41 In 1974, Fred Frith released an album called "Guitar Solos" in which he does everything Thurston Moore has been doing for 25 years for 35 years (if not longer), and somebody was probably doing it before that.
Sorry, I just hate that everyone thinks Thurston Moore invented being noisey and weird.
