He has to load the round and then cover his ears quick because the blast is very loud, and prolongued exposure to such loud noises can be very bad for your ears. He's not a fake soldier, he's just doing what he is supposed to be doing.

@DRM0T0RB04T69 well, if something goes wrong with a 120 at that distance you got some problems...plus the round does not arm until its traveled a bit just in case something happens....the real reason is to protect your face from any burning propellant coming out of the tube and the blast wave and the same for putting your fingers in your ears is to protect your hearing...those things are loud going off...especially in a track...

@RTX94 the 60mm has a trigger that can be used in hand held mode, or the convetional drop mode by the flip of a safty mechanism.

The reason why mortars were made with triggers is because the forces created by the propellant at the bottom of the barrel are so great it would break your hand or arm, or probably kill you.

So when using the 60mm mortar in hand held mode you can only use a charge 0 or 1 and nothing higher.
