Well, not much more to tell, really. I will say it is one of the best shows I have ever seen, that's for sure. As we left, I could see him through the window on his bus talking to an interviewer. When I saw him earlier in the crosswalk, I wanted to talk t him, but just didn't want to bother him...of course now, I wish I had! He was just walking along all by himself, no big deal. Of course, at that time, he hadn't really become as popular as he would later.
I was truly lucky enough to see Jeff perform once on his Grace tour in a small place In the San Diego area...about 50 people in the audience. It was like being in another body or something for that period of time. And I blew the opportunity to talk to him as he was walking across the crosswalk outside the venue before the show started...I will always kick myself for that.
holy crap..........I hardly know what to say. When I hear him sing like that, even if its just for those few moments, I'm carried away some place peaceful. If that makes any sense. I've always loved old time real from your gut and soul blues......
I wish I could put the right words to what I am trying to convey.
The cool thing about Jeff was he was fearless about switching from style to style. The bummer part is when someone like him dies then such a huge void is left wide open and it is filled with mediocrity. Then on top of that the record/video industry expects us to be so stupid as to like that crap.
@nat00ben06 you are right, whenever the Void creeps in, mediocrity follows and takes over. I can't comprehend the cruelty of his departure. He reminds of Syd Barrett in his own right with attitude, Nick Drake that kicks asses, Robert Plant unafraid to experiment with music styles and with no compromise, his own father with no fears. Music royalty with native privileges. And all of this gone too soon.
The first time I saw a picture of him, without knowing ANYTHING about him....I thought "I'm going to marry that man." I think in a parallel universe, we are probably very happy. :) :) Love you Jeff. xoxo
a lot of music videos always have just thoes few haters startinig a war against them and the fans but HELLO where are the haters in Jeffs videos... non exsistant bcoz he is soooo amazing and no one hates him apart from the select few who would not dare send a negative comment bcoz they wod be out weighd and also they know in all his songs there is peace no matter what he is singing about and that is magical
It just seems that nothing (musically) was beyond Jeff's reach. Ya know, whatever moved him in whatever genre he could go for and make it happen, like really bring a song to life. He just didn't seem at all inhibited as a human being, I'm sure the chicks just loved him.
besides his great looks, sense of humor and amazing voice he has the most natural approach to guitar i've heard since early blues, Jimi Hendrix or a hand full of many other revolutionary artists. He has a great touch and fluid sense of music that very few posses. I could go on but I wont...Just wanted to ad to the dialogue. Peace :)
i completely agree, blues just seems to ooze out of him. the mergence of being and expression, he is what he plays and sings, every note an emotion, every chord a memory. a rare breed indeed
@wreard I think you said it all. Jeff was, is, an eclectic musical genius. In addition, to his consummate, well-rounded skill, he had an uncanny talent to guage an audience and connect with them by modulating his performance.
Breathtakinly Beautiful <3 Will always love hearing his voice, wish he was still around, music totally needs Jeff Buckley.
