  • His head disappears also it took him one whole week to regenerate?

  • He fired his regeneration energy into his spare hand that caused the regeneration to stop, then later he got killed by radiation and set the tardis on fire!

  • Their faces are PRICELESS!!!!!!!

Rose- Or... he stays exactly the same. I don't mind.

  • I kinda wish this had been the way they handled the eventual regeneration. Simply because it was never intended to be a major plot device, just a convenient way to switch out the actors. It should just be on an adventure the Doctor is killed, says "Oh, I'm regenerating", the change happens and they get on with it. Sure, take an episode for introductory "recovery" but then get back to work.

  • 1:02 Jack's face, it cracks me up everytime XD

  • I love how Rose is freaking out at the idea of the Doctor changing, while Jack just shouts, "Good luck, Doctor!" And did he seem slightly disappointed at the end when the Doctor didn't change, or is that just me?

  • @slightlyinsaneFTW The Doctor just kicks ass thats why!

  • Have you noticed how Daleks can kill everyone in seconds, except the doctor? (This + The Big Bang) Also, normally the extermination beam covers their entire body, with the Doctor (both times), just the top half

  • I thought the moment was a bit too dramatic than it needed to be.

  • Their faces at the end (especially jacks) priceless xxxx

  • I feel the New Series Fireworks Regeneration is a bit over used now.

I mean, within Six Years, it has been used like Seven or Eight Times!

The special thing on Regeneration is the effect of it, along with seeing who the new Doc is.

So, if the Doctor gets a new Regeration effect, when he does it next time, That would be nice.

    What do you think?

  • i liked rose's shocked gasp @0:02, it really shows that rose knows what's going to happen. i wish they'd left it in for the DVD

  • 0:06 nice one Dalek

  • ... the hell?

  • Hang on this means when he regenerated to smith he used his last regeneration but yet in the impossible astronaut he starts regenerating anyway how?

  • @gongames Under the assumption that the regeneration seen here counts as a full one, then that would mean David Tennant is Doctor #10 and 11. Matt Smith is Doctor #12. A Time Lord had 13 incarnations (12 regenerations), so based on the initial assumption Matt Smith was regenerating into Doctor #13--his final incarnation. Hope that helps!

  • @mitmfan a time lord can regenerate lots of times.. in the episode of the sarah jane adventures with matt smith as the doctor he is ask how many times and he replies 507 but when it is first stated in The Deadly Assassin (1976) that a Time Lord can regenerate twelve times i'm guess that the they didn't think doctor who was guna catch on plus as many companions have found out... the doctor lies

  • Now then... where were we? :)

  • nation's reaction:

to 0:27 - OMG NO WAY!!

to 0:33 - BEST CLIFFHANGER EVER

to 0:42 - Er wait what is he doing?

to 0:51 - What. the. fuck

Biggest load of blue balls since mankind began

  • Regenerating...LIKE A BOSS

  • class

  • Matt Smith likes this because he got an extra year in bed...

  • @iSaando Epic comment - gotta give it to ya

  • @grayfoks When you said Matt was shot in the heart with a laser pistol don't you mean HEARTS because time lords have two hearts??

  • Priceless look on Jack's face. hahaha LOL!!

  • what is also different in the doctor's regenerations (and the master's) now since chris eccleston is that when starts his regeneration cycle flame (like) golden energy bursts from his head and arms / hands; also when david tennant changed to matt smith it seemed a LONG time from when he was fatally hurt to the actual regeneration, and when matt smith started regenerating in 'the impossible astronaut', it didn't take anywhere near as long to regenerate (or start to really) - hmmm curious

  • @darrell190967 I think it really depends on the injury. Christopher Eccleston was killed by the strain of absorbing the Time Vortex. Tennant by Radiation Poisioning which usually takes a while to kill someone. Matt was shot in the heart with a laser pistol...so the regeneration would have to occur quickly in order to save his life.

  • @grayfoks Just out of interest, why Christopher, Matt and Tennant? Do you not like David?

  • @darrell190967 the reason for the tennant to smith change was long is because a time lord can put off for a certain amount of time when they regenerate and like the master at the end of series 3, they can choose if they want to regenerate or die :)

  • @darrell190967 with 10, its believed he was also holding back the regeneration so he could say goodbye to all his companions plus he really didn't want to go.

  • @darrell190967 thats because the 10th doctor held off the regenaration long enough to say goodbye to everyone who knew him as the 10th doctor, but because he held it back the regenaration energy built up thus the vilontly explosive regenaration.

  • @darrell190967 Actually, I read somewhere (so sorry if I am wrong) that the tenth doctor forcibly kepy back his regeneration so he could go and meet his companions first. Then when he finally let it out, it turned out violent and even set the TARDIS on fire. Again, I am sorry if I am wrong, but I remember reading this from somewhere. Hope it helps.

  • im trying to find the bit where rose says your still you! :@ cant find it!

  • So the hand in the jar is now Matt Smith's?

  • @KristinDotCom ur an idiot

  • at the end OMG peoples faces lol

  • But... why couldn't he just regenerate? I don't understand.

  • @AnimalsInMyHeart The Doctor only has a limited number of lives, once he goes through them? That's it, he's dead. Also? The Tenth incarnation of the Doctor grew rather attached to his persona, perhaps more so than any other version of the Doctor. He simply didn't want to let go of who he was at the time.

  • @jasonflynn23 The Doctor used to have only 13 lives, but now he apparently has 507.

  • @AnimalsInMyHeart I'm still on the fence if that's legit - just like the whole "half human" thing. Don't forget what River said: "The Doctor lies...", of course, he could be lying about only having 13 as well lol In any case, just because he has over 500, still no reason to waste them. I think the Second Doctor once commented in Power of The Daleks that regeneration is something no Time Lord would ever willingly submit themselves to, it's an agonizing process.

  • @AnimalsInMyHeart

he leveled up after scoring +10000000 Dalek kills

  • @AnimalsInMyHeart Rassilon gave all the timelords fighting in the war as many regenerations as possible without mutation occuring he pushed timelord regeneration ability to its limits 507 is the doctors limit

  • @AnimalsInMyHeart Because he didn't want to. He found a way to not change :)

  • I love their faces at the end. They were all like "What the f*ck just happened?!"

  • imagine if that hand wasnt there.he wouldve did a full regeneration :)

  • that kinda confused me....

  • I have a sneaking suspicion that Moffat is going to try and pull of a fake regeneration in the upcoming series...

  • @MeBeMat I doubt it, there was a pretty strong backlash from long time fans over this.

  • @MeBeMat

Looks like you were partially right. Eleven does try to regenerate in "The Impossible Astronaut", but is shot to death before the process can finish.

  • Although he'd given us so much to be grateful for, this was where it became apparent that RTD had to go... urgh.

  • omg their faces at the end

  • im just puting this out there but do know the dr is half human his mother was a human if you didnt know this give it a vote up

  • @Akira76944 They said this in the Doctor Who movie, however the public got so annoyed at this that the idea was scrapped.

  • @Akira76944 That was a rumor within the story, and has been retconned to not be true.

  • why is everyone upset about him regenerating? :S it means he's going to save his life and not die :S :S

  • why did'nt he just use his hand again at the end of End Of Time? he did say " i dont want to go" ??????

  • @jackjackjackjackful He redirected his regeneration energy into his severed hand. When Donna touched it, a metacrisis occurred, where his hand formed into a half human Doctor and the DoctorDonna of the Ood prophecy. Donna couldn't handle a Time Lord consciousness, so the Doctor removed all memories of their time together, which is why Journey's End was Donna's last adventure with the Doctor. The Clone Doctor killed the Daleks and was sent with Rose to Pete's World.

  • @jackjackjackjackful It changed into the Half Time Lord Doctor when Donna touched it and then he went with Rose into the Parrarel universe.

  • @jackjackjackjackful

Because he didn't have it hand then, duh. the hand regenerated into a half-human version of the Doctor, and that doctor is now in the alternate universe with Rose. Don't you rememeber?

  • Too bad he didn't go through with it. We could've had Matt Smith two years earlier!

  • why couldn't he have done that again. i wish tenant stayed

  • @gr33n3y13 his hand became another doctor because of the residule regeneration energy he put into it to stop him from changing form. the clone doctor then went with rose to the paralell world. he couldn't chop his hand off again because it only came back last time becuase he was still in his regeneration cycle.

  • you forgot to mention that there has only been one timelord who has broke the 12 regeneration limit. the doctor may very well be the second to break that limit too. only time will tell :)

  • So does this regeneration count in the twelve regenerations time lords can have? Meaning Matt Smith would technically be the 12th Doctor?

  • @CloneUnit642

I don't think it will count as the BBC and the fans will likely want to see the doctor in all 13 incarnations.

So Matt will still be 11 and there will still be 2 more doctors to come after him :)

  • @kiaoken They are bringing in inlimted regenrations. Most likely story will be that thet brought them in during the time war.

  • @Valiantgallifrey aw man, I hope thats just hype! :(

I would rather see doctor who end on a high note, after reaching the end of his 13th and final life then see it prolong for so long until the show eventualy becomes overdone and stale.

  • @kiaoken No its defantly true because obviously thats one regen used on journys end and it's nearly over dw is massive so they wana get around it asap so they can continue with dw as it is. But what if matt does it for as along as tom baker you never know lol

  • @kiaoken But its literally impossible for that to happen. The amazing thing about DW is that anything that floats into your head could be possible in happening within the show. Anything is possible. Unless the writers are very narrow minded, it cannot be come repetitive because he travels, and they partially revenvent the shoe through each generation, so it should be ok tbh.

  • @kiaoken is 13th regeneration the end one?

  • @SirKil0t yes, acording to DoctorWho

A timelord can only have 13 lives (12 regenerations)

  • @CloneUnit642 I think there was a regen used BUT he is still the 10th and matt smith the 11th. Although unlimited regens are here now. To be confirmed on sja

  • thank goodness he didnt change.....Imagine what Rose Donna and Jack would think of the new doctor...lol too much energy i thinkhaha

  • That stand he did at 0:30 i wonder if its the same one from the First episode of when the ninth doc changes......also...It would be better if they have him regenerate but they have to wait for the final......GRR!

  • aaah love jacks face in the end XD

  • @Nonna1997 hahaha it's almost like he's saying "you just proved me wrong"

  • is there a website where i can download the video?

  • What is strange is that the Doctor was trying to stand up for his regeneration. Ever since Doctor Who returned, he's always stood up for regenerations. It's almost like a tradition!

  • @thedoctorand

I think cause it'd just look like he's spazzing on the floor...Which would be awkward. Doctor Who writers/director wants to make you cry...Not make you think "Wtf?" at a moment that would leave you on the edge of your seat.

  • @thedoctorand THAT BECAUSE IT IS

  • @MINIMAN096 I had to read what I put then. Lengthy amounts of time without checking what you've put'll do that to you.

  • @thedoctorand wot i dont understand

  • @MINIMAN096 Did you not watch Season 4 of Doctor Who?

He sent all the Chronal energy into a DNA matching reciptical - his hand that was cut off in Season 2, in which case he grew another one.

Watch the series and you'll understand. :P

  • @MINIMAN096 i get it now :D lol

  • @thedoctorand

Maybe Because his Regenerations have been getting rather violent since it returned

so if he lay down or sat down it may harm him?

  • @thedoctorand I thought the most obviously to note was that... y'know... he bursts into flames?

  • The final portion of this clip, my fellow denizens of the Internet, is a textbook case of "OMG those expressions = priceless".

  • LOL look at jack´s face the last 2 seconds!! It´s Hilarious XD

  • Rose at 0:56 made me lol.

  • 0:45 what happend to his head

  • He bent his head down in line with his arms to stream the artron energy coming from it, into his old hand, in line with the rest of the energy! :o)

  • lol they got punk'd they though he was gonna change epic lol rofl !!!!!
