Amputations caused by copperhead bites are almost as rare as fatalities from then. Copperhead snakes are no more or less dangerous than most other wild animals--a well-placed kick from a fully-grown deer could be fatal, so could an infected dogbite or even the bite of a person (which is poisonous due to bacteria int he saliva). Leave a copperhead alone and it will leave YOU alone.
They forget to mention the number of kids that have lost limbs due to amputation from these nasty little snakes. Kill the little critters... or pack them up and send them to the people that think we shouldn't.
Most copperhead bites occur when persons attempt to kill them. So I disagree with your imperative of killing them. You are putting yourself in MORE danger by trying to kill venomous snakes rather than leave them be (copperheads are excellent rat catching machines I might add).
I lived for many years in the countryside and never had to face down a venomous snake. If I saw a snake I felt no imperative to kill it..
Although not enough to be deadly, the venom from a copperhead bite can play hell with your kidneys. If you get bit be sure and flush your kidneys out with plenty of water. Drink so much you have to keep pissing often. That will help flush the venom out of your system and kidneys.
I KILL ALL COPPERHEADS I SEE. They bit my son and he was in pain for days. SO Screw you stupid city people that think we should just all live together.
It is too bad you teach your son to be so ignorant would you kill every dog you seen if your son had been bitten by one. I think not would it not be better to teach him to respect them and no I am not from the city. I was a farmer at one time and I hunt and fish and am a amateur herpetologist and teach my kids about them and our family will make a day of looking for them.
@xstreemquestoutdoors A dog bite doesn't break down your nervous system and turn your insides to mush... I am not saying copperheads do that, but if a child or toddler walked into a copperhead nest expect that child to be dead. I kill all poisonous snakes I come across, because I am not taking the chance they may bite a normal good hearted person, and kill them a week later.
Snakes aren't your best friend, and a venomous one has no problem with killing you xstreemquest if you walk upon one.
Copperhead's won't strike unless they feel like your gunna touch them or if you get close to them there more scared of you than you are scared of themso just don't mess with them.
Zero deaths....yet people act like they're in mortal danger when they see ANY snake and kill the animal immediately screaming "COPPERHEAD" and 90% of the time it's not a copperhead.
Ppl should be more afraid of climbing into their cars. I bet every person who is terrified of snakes can name someone they know personally who has died in a car accident but cannot name a single person they know personally who died, or was even bitten, by a snake. Yet they run screaming when they see a snake.

well then why bother going to a hospital emergency room if no deaths in Missouri have been from copperhead snake bites? Waste of time.
