Guess who is making money off these machines--Former Homeland Secretary Michael Chertoff
Chertoff’s group represents Rapiscan, a California based firm “which until recently was the only company qualified to sell full-body scan machines to the TSA.” Last summer, “TSA purchased 150 machines from Rapiscan with $25 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds.”
I flew in Canada with sandals on and I didn't have to take them off...I think they only make you do that if you're flying to the US...it must of been nasty walking barefoot through security...
you can have that scizzor, so It wouldve been stupid to stop you for it, obviously they know their own regulations and didnt stop you for it. As for your flipflops you can have a fully assembeled explosive device or just a pack of C4. Yeah Lady I wouldve told you to take it off too had you been flying in my flight. Let the officers do their job and stop your nagging!!
How come we don't get to check the employees stuff? They're just as likely to be terrorists for all we know. I mean, damn, I paid good money to get where ever I'm going and I want to feel safe... so line up the pilot and all those flight attendents so we can all frisk 'em!
I am an ASO in England [aviation security officer] and the reason you have to take your flip flops off is to scan the heel using the x-ray to check for shoe bombs. The protocol is the same for someone in see through jelly sandles as for massive doc martins. And taking sharp prohibited items onto a plane is an offence in england and probably in america so well done for filming it.
I don't fly anymore - the security is such a stupid hassle it isn't worth it. Last time I flew they made me throw away my sunscreen - it was in a 4.5 ounce container and the limit of any liquid is 4 ounces. I was like dude - I already used half of it! Nope - clearly a a security violation they said - throw it away or you cannot get on the plane! Like anybody could blow up a plane with a 0.5 extra ounces of sunscreen! wtf! The security guys are stupid idiots. I hope all the airlines go broke
It's the TSA that are the stupid ones. I work at the airport and see these airheads harassing frail senior citizens, young children, and badged airport employees. All the while there are huge security holes all over the airport.
The TSA is blowing smoke up the public's rear end. Airports are NOT secure.
Just read an article in Yahoo news about the new Apple MacBook Air stumping TSA agents and the owner missing his flight. It's a brand new super thin laptop. TSA agents refused to let the passenger pass although a younger TSA agent was confirming it's a legitimate laptop. More proof of how the TSA is full of MORONS!
Security at the airport is full of gapping holes while TSA harasses 3yr old babies and helpless pregnant moms. Your all IDIOTS!
Since people are bringing up terrorists and calling her stupid, I think you and others need to look in the mirror. On 9/11, planes were hijacked with box cutters. You people don't think scissors, nor the metal silverware they hand you on the plane, are just as lethal?
Snap out of it and realize we are being conditioned to get used to being treated as terrorists.
Safety snips and rounded edged sizzors are allowed. You flip flops are thick enough to conceil an entire IED. Obviously you know everything about airport security though. Whoever was on that xray was a retard.
Read the regs... Scissors measuring less than 4 inches from fulcrum (pivot or hinge) to the point, are allowed. Before you blame the security officers, maybe you should check what they are told to do from D.C., maybe they are the morons, not the officers.
TSA screeners are as smart as a box of rocks and probably barely made it out of high school. I travel a lot and even the Israelis screeners are much nicer and more profesional than these losers.
visit tsa(dot)gov for the latest rules and regulations... the business traveler gets it and is with the program. It's the occasional or infrequent traveler that is filled with horror and disgust. Anyway, all the misinformed comments are funny to look at. Toodles.
Scissors with a blade 4 inches or under can be carried on dumnass, and your flip flops, WE GOTTA CHECK EM FOR EXPLOSIVES JERK OFF! How about u go buy ur own private jet and let any asshole on without checking them, see what fun you have flying with starngers carrying god knows what.
I whish we could post a big pic of all the diffrent attacks on 911 in the airport. Maybe ppl. would remember and stop being such lazy annoying assholes! *TSO*
yeah what pickles has said...that is correct and to date. Just think about it...there is a reason behind every rule and procedure...they are not trying to infringe on your rights..besides buses and trains are also fine modes of transportation. :) they don't make you take your shoes/footwear off.
Actually, scissors are allowed in your carry on as long as the blades are no longer than 4 inches from the fulcrum. Also, your rubber flip flops aren't the concern...it is what can be concealed between your foot and the sandal..or what can be concealed in the flip flop (or shoes for that matter) that is the concern. I would like to remind everyone of a guy named Richard Reid..look it up if you don't know who i am talking about
If you give up Liberty for security, you will have neither...

Airport security has nothing to do with security. It has to do more with the feeling of secure and subjugation.
They don't care if you die. They just care if you act out of line. They want everyone to feel secure so they will do as they are told.

Ok ok ok...Scissors are allowed on carry-ons as long as the TIP is rounded and not sharp! Because you can STABBED someone if they are.
hotasianboy 4 years ago
they are allowed if they are under a certin size. you can take knitting needles on a plane if you want, they are sharp.
