And guttihg the deer is all part of the hunt. My first was done by my dad to show me, way before You Tube or even VCRs, every one since was solo.

Ur kids looks like he doesn't wanna touch anything, he's all bein xtra carful, I'm only 12 and I've hunted before and skinned aswell as feild dressed an animal a few times( I'm still new to hunting) and I even have a mounted buck and when I feild dress my animals I'm all in there, I know what to do so I cut it up, on my dad and my first hunting trip I feild dressed one animal( I already knew how, I tought myself through YouTube) and he was very surprised!

take it home and hang it

much easier to skin while its hanging

quarter it up

better than processing it in the field with your meat covered in dirt and bugs.

your Buck knife should have no problem splitting the rib cage and remain sharp enough to finish the rest of the job. I did three deer that way one year before needing to sharpen things up. It will make the process of removing the wind pipe much easier.
