It sold a "gazillion" copies and that would have made any other artist a sensation but since it was Michael Jackson, it went under the radar for the critics and those who weren't die-hard fans of his at the time. When you are as big a star as Michael Jackson was, things that seem silly become big issues....like his album not going double platinum at the time rather than "just" platinum, hahaha
