I completely get how to create automation for the various features on a channel strip, but what about the other type of automation? Sometimes when Im recording a virtual instrument I see some column looking things in the track and I don't know how to select/alter them. For example, if I move the pitch wheel on my midi keyboard while recording, the column things will show up in the track. I can't select them. Do you know what I'm talking about?
@rhetttr0 I think i know what you mean. Try double clicking the midi regien so you get your piano roll up, in the very bottom left you should see 3 horizontal lines. the default setting will bring up note velocity, There is a small arrow in the left column to change what parameter you want to manipulate. I hope this helps.
Your tutorials have heloed me so much, thanks again! How do you record from my Yamaha S90 keyboard, via midi? (Meaning use my sounds from my S90, but instead of recording in an audio track, having the midi manioulation capabilities)
I downloaded an S90 "environment" but I'm still not clear on how to set it up. Also I run midi via my mbox2
@jarrettdbaker the only way i know how to do what you want is to have the keyboard connected via external midi in logic but then you would have to have an audio lead with an audio track to use the sounds from the Yamaha's sound board, this would allow you to write in midi and hear play back through your yamaha but when you where finished you would set the audio track to record to capture what you make. hope this helps if not let me know and ill make a quick video showing how i do this.
@jarrettdbaker I was thinking about doing a few more but i dont know what people would need help on so if you have any ideas let me know and ill make a video
@KIllaCuzza Is there a way to adjust gain or levels without the fader so you can still mix it how you want? ProTools has a plug in called "gain" and you can raise or lower the gain, without the mix level fader changing at all. Help.
@jarrettdbaker There is a gain plugin in logic, its in the inserts menu under UTILITY - this will change the gain of the whole track you have selected. if you want to change the gain of just one audio file you can use the sample editor, select your file and go to sample editor at the bottom, then go to the FUNCTIONS menu and select change gain. (some times some of the options in this drop down are greyed out this is because of the file format change it and that should help)
@KIllaCuzza Thanks again HOw do you link various channels together when mixing? I know I can press shift and select the ones I want, but is there a way to permanently link tracks together? In ProTools, I would press command G for "group" I think
@jarrettdbaker Just above the fader and pan there is a small grey box, that is the grouping option click and hold to create a group then assign everything you want then add others to your group hope this helps.
I feel like it's the best one yet! Maybe it's because it was for your brother. I don't know. But is was non technical and patient. Great job! Thanks

@KIllaCuzza How do you create an audio lead? If you have time to post a quick vid, that'd be awesome. Thanks again.
