  • Thanks for the positive comment. Yes, this is just a preview from the full demo, so it doesn't show the finished painting. His end results with these techniques are quite remarkable and worth a try!

  • Poor Joe. Some of the comments here are really unfair. I've been following Joe's work for the past eight years now. The work shown here is unfinished. I know, my first reaction was the same "What? Yellow?" but in Joe's case and technique, it really works. Go visit his site and then you'll know what I mean. He's a nice guy too. Once I asked him the secret of his painting brick works, and he happily shared the technique.

  • What the hell was he thinking? It could have been beautiful if he just stuck with the blue. What a shame.

  • a++++++++++++

  • this is shit!!!

  • @Rubenlgdeviant So true. A total disregard for the deep rich blue hues that really create the depth. I hate that yellow. Also this showing the wetness is utter crap. You add the ripples by dragging a flat brush through the wet wash. As for reflections use small areas of tone that blossom out as the paper is wet and this will create the right shapes.

  • @thegreatbasher I guarantee this guy is a more competent painter than you.. He sells his work for thousands of dollars and is as deft with the watercolor brush as anyone I've seen. Have the guts to do a demo video for us to tear apart? I don't think so. Look at the reference photo, the reflections are all warm from the surrounding shrubs. I don't understand why people would come on here and rip him like that, must be insecurity. I just hope he continues to share his secrets. I support you Joe!

  • Fantastic, and fun to watch him, thanks.

  • Ah! Working now - I recommend this fella's books - not your regular mundane watercolour books - practical and direct with a bit of pizazz - whatever that is...

  • Hmm, audio but no video streaming on my iPhone...

  • shame these videos are only half baked.

  • good.

  • cool!

    that was even looking better than the photo...

    but wheres the rest of it? i couldnt find a video of the next step.

    i hope you post it soon.

    cheers!

  • That's a good way to paint water, Thanks for posting.
