The lower enlisted will also, because they know who has the real word experience and knowledge. I got pretty drunk in Florida after we finished training....was a good time. I'm still pissed about Mountain Phase, they made us carry every weapon without a sling. I arm carried the 240 with a 100 round starter belt all day, your biceps are flexed the whole time, that sucked. All the other companies had slings, even for the M16s/M4s, was total BS. Class 08-02.
I can understand why some people wouldn't want to have a beret for everyone,but it's a hat. I wouldn't be shocked if some of these SF just looks at these arguments say the berets are only for elite units and say who the fuck cares it's a hat.

the guys that wrote this song were in phase 2 of the Q cours with me. the dude thats the voice of the instructor is robin king in 10th group and this song is about phase 2. there is a whole cd of about 10 songs and there all about the Q.
actually it's the opposite. officers and enlisted go together, but officers have to pull the toughest leadership positions (PSG and PL, but they could do SL too). e-5 and below get pretty easy (just SL, never anything higher).
that's interesting because i always see ranger school cranking out some of the worst shit-ball officers to hit the line. it'd be one thing for a single lt rockin' a tab with no leadership skill, but a whole battalion's worth of brass?

How is he a douche? Without that "douche" people assigned to a Ranger batt would wear a black beret like the rest of the conventional army. Even people who aren't airborne qualified but assigned to an airborne unit are allowed to wear a maroon beret. It helps to set them apart

Fool, the change was GOING to happen. THUS, without changing the beret color, there would be no distinguishing a ranger from a conventional army soldier- unit patch not withstanding-. You're wrong again. It only happened because of Shinseki. The decision to distribute berets to all Army personnel instead of just SF, Rangers and Airborne, was made my Shinseki while he was Chief of Staff of US Army.
I'll talk about the US Army all I want, whenever I want. I earned that right as a US Army combat veteran with 21 years of service from 1984-2005, and having served in 2/75 for 2-1/2 years, 8 years in multiple Infantry units, and 10+ years in the 7th SFG.

I agree. I was just being facetious. To play devil's advocate though, Shinseki (sp?) might have said that every soldier earns his/her beret and that Rangers earn a tan beret, which was the original color for the Rangers.
Shinseki wanted to bring a more spirt of de corps type thing to the military in 01...saddly the beret is dispised by most of us who have been in the army for a min or more. I dont kno about the marron one but i do know this. If your wearing a Tan or green beret you earned it

Yeah, I went through last year, but I did hear RIs talking about what you describe. I see the value in both approaches; let people do what they know, but at the same time it would be good to experience things you wouldn't normally get at your unit.

Sorry pal, your class wasn't the first. I was in class 7-87 and we did desert phase in Utah. They moved it to Ft. Bliss for a few years after I left Battalion and then moved it back to Utah.

manchu dan 22 gives great advice, soak ur boots for a couple of days to get them soaked thru completly, then put them on and wear them till they dry out perfect fit everytime, also get about 10 lbs heayer u need it went in 185 got out at 168 Im 6' 2", and DONT be a PUSSY whatever shit they give u just smile and give 110%, any any order u give when leading is a good one, DO NOT HESITATE EVER, u get ur ass rolled up in a heartbeat

Antiochus, If you're going to Ranger School, just make sure you want it REAL BAD
No matter how tough it gets, your desire to be tougher and push on through must be greater
Most guys go just to wear the Tab, if that's the only reason you're going you'll drop out the 1st week (your 3rd time thru the worm pit)
Be in the best endurance shape of your life, be able to run/walk for hours
Toughen up your feet (max important) make sure your boots fit perfectly, and you walked 50 miles in them

How is he a douche? Without that "douche" people assigned to a Ranger batt would wear a black beret like the rest of the conventional army. Even people who aren't airborne qualified but assigned to an airborne unit are allowed to wear a maroon beret. It helps to set them apart

Wrong, the conventional Army didn't wear a beret before 2001. The Black Beret belonged to Rangers ONLY until Shinseki changed it.
Berets are intended to show a soldier who is elite and specially trained. Many of us feel it's inappropriate to allow every soldier to wear one.
SF, Rangers, and Airborne aren't given berets, they earn them.

Fool, the change was GOING to happen. THUS, without changing the beret color, there would be no distinguishing a ranger from a conventional army soldier- unit patch not withstanding-. I don't like that everyone wears one, but it it what it is. And don't talk about Airborne people. If you're assigned to an ab'n unit, you wear a maroon beret, whether you're ab'n qualified or not

You're wrong again. It only happened because of Shinseki. The decision to distribute berets to all Army personnel instead of just SF, Rangers and Airborne, was made my Shinseki while he was Chief of Staff of US Army.
I'll talk about the US Army all I want, whenever I want. I earned that right as a US Army combat veteran with 21 years of service from 1984-2005, and having served in 2/75 for 2-1/2 years, 8 years in multiple Infantry units, and 10+ years in the 7th SFG.

I agree. I was just being facetious. To play devil's advocate though, Shinseki (sp?) might have said that every soldier earns his/her beret and that Rangers earn a tan beret, which was the original color for the Rangers.

Shinseki wanted to bring a more spirt of de corps type thing to the military in 01...saddly the beret is dispised by most of us who have been in the army for a min or more. I dont kno about the marron one but i do know this. If your wearing a Tan or green beret you earned it
