@PolichinelaAzul Thanks so much for watching, I really appreciate it. I made this clip in hopes that all of the Barbara Steele fans out there would enjoy it. It's always a massive pleasure to hear from another worshipper of the immortal queen of horror.
i finally got here and this is very cool! she sounds so sinister and dusky in the audio and your choice of images accented that so well. kudos to youdos!
Thanks, Catherine. Yeah, I wanted to feature that audio of Barbara Steele speaking because in so many of her EuroHorror flicks, they ended up having other actresses dub her lines -- maybe to save money, they'd just grab up someone who was already under contract to do the job. When she angrily walked off of that Elvis Presley movie in America and was told she'd never work again, who knew that she'd wind up going to Rome & becoming the queen of screams? :-)
Yes, you silly man. YOU inspired THAT, along with Bob. For your part, I took the notion of "everything is funnier looking when played faster" for my cameo appearance, along with the general idea of a presentation which starts out appearing on-the-level, but contains something which blows its seemingly serious cover. And also in the way you (like Bob) have put all of this obvious work into these amazingly cool Halloween-themed uploads. But hey, it all really started for me with DIRTY SOCK! ;-)
Happy to do it, C.F. Thanks for watching. Yeah, LOVED her in "Black Sunday", along with "Castle Of Blood", "Long Hair Of Death" & I'm working on a music vid centered around her in "Nightmare Castle".
This is really cool Gothling, she is a very interesting woman, I like her. Great job putting this all together, really looks legit. I'd love to see one on Karloff or Lugosi.
I appreciate your giving this a look, Aqua. I discovered her vintage EuroHorror films kind of late in life. Being as OLD as I am, you'd think I'd have seen those films long ago. I never saw "Black Sunday" till about 10 years ago, when Tim Burton was hosting a bunch of his favorite horror films on AMC. But I was instantly hooked, and started collecting her movies. I edited her interview segments from a longer piece. I'd love to do the same sort of thing for Karlof, Lugosi & even Vincent Price.
Well yes its very interesting, I remember her from some of your early posts. She's certainly got a dark side that's for sure! haha I'd love to see other segments like this.
Thanks, Sweetie. I credited just about everyone except YOU, 'cause 1) you're my creepy girl, and 2) you've made sure that I could get my greedy "horror fanatic" hands on Barbara Steele's Euro Gothic flicks over the years. I think it's the 10 year anniversary of your buying the "Black Sunday" DVD for me, and by now I think I've racked up 8 or 9 of her films in all. :-)
well, you can't keep a good woman down!!! she broke boudaries at the time, that women weren't all stepford wives. now there's a scary movie!!! loved your cameo daaahrling!!! superb!! :-)
Yes, she's a real icon of a genre where women are mostly cast in the role of helpless victim, and even when Ms. Steele was victimized, she'd often have a way of lashing back at her foe in some beyond-the-grave sort of way. Thanks for the encouragement about my popping in. I had almost finished editing, then thought: "I really ought to make an appearance, if only so people won't automatically think that I've ripped this clip from some DVD cast bio feature." :-)
Thanks! Yeah, she's pretty scary alright. Last night, I found a recent YT clip from some horror convention, and shock of shocks, they actually got Babs to show up for a "Black Sunday" screening & a brief Q&A (they had to have paid her a bundle to make that happen). She became impatient pretty quickly with the fanboy inquiries, then rather impatiently blurted out: "Let's watch the movie now, shall we?" Ooo, scary is right!
Barbara Steele is a great actress! I think I have seen every movie she has been in. Check out my video tribute to her.

It is always a pleasure to hear speak to Barbara (it owns a surrounding voice), a good tribute to the goddess of the Dark.

I inspired THAT? Bob, I can see. He inspires a lot of my videos. It was great! I have a few of the Italian / Barb Steele movies around here, too.

P.S. With apologies to Julie, I did my own response to DIRTY SOCK! I just haven't stuck it into a video yet. "You'll see...", he said ominously.
