I have friends and family members who are against religion and neither them or I are violent when it comes to religion. However, I do have heated arguments sometimes. I think most religions offer good teachings; it's the people who corrupt society. It's like blaming atheism for what Stalin has done.

you are right, although there are some religions that arent so good on the teaching part such as mormon which describe people with dark skin being creations of the devil, and scientology which is quite obscure. Speaking of Mormons, a couple of them used to come to my house to convert me. Fortunately for me I've studied the Bible before they even knocked on my door. After a couple of visits they never came back. I believe that every idiology (religious, political, philosophical) should be put under microscope and questioned. Nothing should be taken at face value. I think too many people belive or deny God just based on mere belief. Philosophers, Scientists have been debating on this subject for ages.

It seems tlhat believing in God is common knowledge. For example, the Australlian natives, who had no connection with the rest of the world for thousands of years used to believe in one God. But I must admit that if weren't a Muslim, I would have had been an Agnostic, which I were at one point in my life.

You see, the scriptures can be manipulated and distorted, even created. Because humans are not perfect, these scriptures contain things that don't add up and just plain randomness, as you put it. Therefore, you can't always use scriptures to see if God really exists or not.
