He is a Sage, if you recall even the Hokage (Lady Tsunade) states that they must stay out of his way during the Battle with Pain because he is on a whole other level of power now... you should keep up with the times. He is a Sage now, NOT a genin. And not only is a he JUST a Sage, he is the new Sage of the Six Paths (as soon as he gains control of the Kyuubi's chakra in the newer chapters.... So, yeah.
