The duel academy rules are probably different from the standard rules. Ever notice how they only have 4000 life points instead of 8000? That's probably why they play face-up defense monsters.

BTW having only 4000 LP makes it sooo easy to win. All you have to do is: 1) Heavy Storm 2) Lightning Force/Nobleman of Crossout annddd 3) Use Cyber-Stein to summon Cyber End Dragon.......oh wait. nvm

it's cool how they always have everything with the product the series is about - they have academies, doctors/professors, corporations, supercomputers, and world-encompassing battles including supernatural beings, all about Duel Monsters cards, regardless of whether it makes sense (whereas... if there are supercomputers for chess, there can also be supercomputers for Duel Monsters - as for chess, why can't a game like Duel Monsters be that officially popular and renowned? It's a lot cooler.)

@DaemonArusei Try China Town in Queens NY, theres a lot of people who go to the card store ( a place called Duel Zone ), inside the store there are tables to duel people, the employees are knowledgeable about Yugioh (also has their own decks to play with) and its packed in Saturday for a 2pm tournament (Every Saturday). Also it sells those box packs (the ones with 24 packs i think), individual cards from commons to "Secrets" (mostly ultras, ultis, and secrets are in glass cases)

@DaemonArusei and they do a "Sneak Preview tournament" thing before a new pack comes out, by tournament i mean, you sign up for the "sneak preview" for $20 and get 5 of the new packs (no other way to get them early unless you sign up or come back the day its released) and use them in a tournament to win a prize ( cant use your own deck), the limit can be 20 cards or more for this kind of tournament. The down side is that the rules are no trading and selling cards. You have to be somewhere they

omg so much controversy. The person that jaden met at the beginning was yugi all grown up (not atem). Atem left to his rightful place in time as pharoh at the end of the yugioh series. In the end of the yugioh gx series jaden goes back in time to when the pharoh was with yugi when he was younger. this was probably after yugi won the battle city tournament. Yugi just sounds like atem because he's all grown up and hit puberty.
