Cool machine, well done. I'd be a bit scared to ride it though. With those two independent front wheels, it's an accident waiting to happen, literally. If those two front drivers do not basically match their same turn angle, your 'screwed', all it'll take is a slick patch , pot hole, or something in the road to send them all flying. The rear drive is a little 'scary' too, if one loses traction, how can they all react in unison and not roll it?
This family truckster quadricycle appear funny looking to me; none of the riders can assume other comfortable positions when required. However it is likely to be the first all wheel drive powered.
On one side, the chain is looped in a figure 8. That way, that rider can pedal normally. On the other side, the chain is just mounted in a simple loop, so must be pedaled backwards.
The figure 8 works pretty well with a 9 speed chain. With an 8 speed chain, we found that it was necessary to place a thin plastic sheet where the chain crosses itself.
Ultimately, conventional pedaling is preferred by most, but reverse pedaling can be a fun novelty.
Yay!finally a 4 person bicycle that doesn't weigh a ton. I'm not certain about the safety with people facing backwards though. I'm also curious about how the steering works when both sides hook together. Looks like it handles the turns fine.

Obviously very fun and social. Nice job. Like the brazing scene. Why does one of the four people pedal backwards?

The prospect of riding backwards is utterly unappealing. In fact, I suspect I would get sick.

Crap, that's cool. Could someone pedal this thing solo, even though it would obviously be slower?

Thanks Hokierose! Yes, I regret not demonstrating that in the video, but you can ride it solo, loaded up with four, or anything in between.
