Ross.....pressing the "sport" button in a Cayman R does NOTHING to the suspension. The Cayman R does not have adaptive suspension....and it is not available as an option. Pressing the "sport" button changes the accelerator map and the rev limiter from soft to hard. Don't feel bad....two out of three automotive journalists made the same mistake (of not reading the press kit). Talk about a placebo effect...

I have a Cayman S. I have been on many road trips and it holds tons of luggage (3 medium standard suit cases). I would only want the R if it was only for the track, otherwise, I like all the luxuries that the S offers, at almost the same track performance. And yes, I do track me car as well.

@dcengland I have a Cayman S (same luggage capacity). I was just golfing today with 2 sets of clubs. You have to take the drivers out of the golf bags and lay them across the back. Also, the front still has enough room for a medium size suit case. Believe it or not, but it holds more luggage than the trunk of a new Honda Accord.

I believe that carbon fibre is not science. Like a plastic bottle which has amazing resiliency, the cab of a sports car should be blow-moulded from an impact resistant, bomb-proof polymer. This means that the cab would survive horrendous forces and still be reuseable. But, yes,' telepathic' telemetry with the driver sounds like the Ghost Whisperer. Science+morality = immortality.

@bluedrangon69 Let me put this straight. The ZR1 is plastic hunk of crap. The ONLY place it's good on, is the track. It doesn't have the build quality and technology of GTR or an Audi R8 etc (which so many people compare it to) I'd much rather have the GTR for the price of a Zr1 to live with.

Now about the Porsche. Yeah, it's useless day to day, but on a track, like the zr1, it's briliant. The way it feels to drive is incredible.

@andrefrbk A/C is a "delete" option on all Porsche sports cars. You can get A/C in the Cayman R if you want it. Folks in Southern California that will use the car on the track often are probably the best candidates to "delete" the A/C when they order the car.
