I was in The Gathering mass choir--one of the high school students. From my experience, it was awesome prepping for The Gathering and singing at The Gathering in the choir. I really felt God's presence there. It was so exciting, energizing, and joy-filling. I hope to do this again next year.

When we gather to praise Him, He comes to be with us, which gives us strength to serve others. If I had fun at a party for my best friend, you wouldn't call me "selfish" for enjoying my friend. My favorite speaker was the Police Chief from Hughson.....That woman can get down when it comes to praying....She was so good that I did not want her to shut up. I really wished that she could preach at my church like that,,,,, I did not see that coming and then oh my sweet Jesus she was out of control and could not be contained, I loved it. I think that most of the people were shocked even the main speaker from The Calvery Temple. She was amazing!! = ]

And the way that this video is constructed it's basically saying that the prayers did not work..Well, I am here to say that anyone that knows God knows that He does things in His time not ours and anyone who does not live by His terms will repent when it does not even matter anymore. My research is 6 years of personally being out in the downtown area, with no pastors in sight, watching Modesto deteriorate into wickedness, where so-called christians defend the grace of God to party and not to live righteously.
The gathering made declarations that are not becoming reality because the pastors are not leading by example. Empty prayers made loud in violation of Matthew 6, read the word's of Jesus before you judge.
I personally know of Pastors and ministry that do minister to the downtown community on a regular basis. Many churches provide food, clothing, and medical care to the community while ministering the word. You make the statement that the pastors are not leading example, once again while in research check your facts. You are making a dangerous statement in calling the righteous prayers empty. Do you have salvation? Or just pulling scriptures from the Bible.
You should attend one of the Modesto churches and see for yourself the things that God has done in the individual lives that have come off of the streets.
Maybe it takes some time for The Gathering 2009 prayers to make it to heaven. Maybe these pastors and Christians forgot they should speak out against evil in their city in public and pray in private. Hopefully God will wake the up the Christians in Modesto and their pastors so that they will be as angry at sin as He is. We can only hope and pray He will. Better yet we can hope, pray and get out of our churches and do battle on the front lines.

Jesus also forbade praying in public, yet the churches of Modesto are happy to gather in disobedience.
Ask yourself why the churches, yourself included, refuse to obey Jesus by preaching in public, yet are happy to disobey Jesus by praying in public.
In addition, ask yourself why The Gathering is an absolute failure each and every year.
I have a feeling that you will refuse such introspection, because it will reveal your Christianity to be just that, yours and not Christ's.
