Your striking comments are completely true. Watch Holyfield or Sugar Jay box a person, than watch MMA standup. MMA standup isn't impressive. However, they do have to consider knees, elbows, and leg strikes, but punching form shouldn't be sacrificed.
I say MMA is WAY better than Boxing. Boxing is boring...I was never into it. MMA is much MUCH more exciting. BTW UFC TUF 8 Finale was pretty good. They had some good fights. Wilson Gouveia got some vicious elbows on Jason MacDonald. Junie proved himself tonight. Ryan Bader got an easy KO on Vinny. Anthony Johnson caught Kevin Burns with a brutal kick to the neck. Esfrain vs Phillipe fight was awesome. I'd like to see them fight again. BTW Koshchek's stand up is ok. But he got a BRUTAL KO.
jackass....you cant compare mma striking with boxing...two separate things all together....pacmans style of boxing is efficient for boxing but would NEVER work in an mma fight...that was a really dumb thing to say...manny wasnt worried about oscar shooting on him and getting a takedown, quit comparing the two sports,it doesnt benefit an mma fighter to adopt a boxers skill with his hands because it is redundant..
"Why risk injury and fight for pennies, when you can box pro and make millions per fight?"
Well, many people say that boxing is a far more dangerous sport in the long run because of the head shots you get in boxing. What's your stance about this?
Top fights like Floyd Mayweather have shown interest in possibly competing in MMA. But his management will NEVER let it happen, also it does not make financial sense.
Kermit Cintron has said he would compete in MMA. Top level boxer who already has a foundation of crosstraining.
But even someone like Cintron makes greater money per fight in boxing than main card MMA fighters and literally, Dana White cannot afford to put him on a MMA card.
Yoshida looked terrible against Koscheck. He was supposed to be a judoka, so I don't know why he didn't try to use judo.
It's awesome how Corey Hill tried to keep fighting after the leg snap. If he recovers he needs to consume more calcium and do some shin conditioning. He could possibly come back with stronger stronger shin bones. All these guys who say he needs to do bodybuilding and get bigger calf muscles are stupid.
About da leg kicks: Thai fighters as well as most other martial arts styles kick hard shit 2 not only deaden da nerves in their shins, but if it's done enough, it'll harden da bones. If dat shin is hard enough, they ain't gotta worry about breakin' their leg cuz they got da density in da bone, as well as metal bats (if a person even kicks metal) for legs. Dat's y he fucked up his leg. Just my view.
you might be right. I just think Hills bone density is not there, hes a very thin fighter naturally. 6'4 155 lbs...he has a lot of strength for his size and great athletism..but his bones are not as thick as the averge person.
No comment on Steven Cantwell breaking Razak's arm, then his awkward attitude about it afterwards? The Koschek KO was phenomenal. Kos's right hand has become quite a tool for him to use in the Welterweight division.
i was at that fight and have seen that clip a hundred times its gruesome in all aspects & i feel bad for hill but as a spectator who never thought he would ever see something like that then it was awesome.
I wanted to see what people thought about the social impact, by that I mean the proliferation of this sport to the more main stream markets by this fight night. I've been reading some articles by pundits claiming that this fight night tarnishes the image of the sport and gives more fuel the critics, I don't by it myself but the freak coincidence of Hill's injury and Koscheck's brutal KO of Yoshida might give those who are on the fence with mma a reason to criticize it what do you think?
yeah, i saw that leg break and Joe was screaming his lungs off for the match to stop. Those kind of screams just makes the scene even more disturbing.
I rarely agree with anything you say but my respect goes way up for you on the business end of the sport

At this point we will never know. There isn't an MMA fighter in existence with top level boxing skill.
You know why? They would be taking a 20 million dollar per fight pay cut.
xvnukervx2 3 years ago
actually if you say Fight science you will see that MMA fighters have harder punches than MMA and better techinuqe
Afgmas 3 years ago 2
but then your statement works both ways. A boxer with top level boxing SKILL who converts to MMA will also train takedowns and groundwork.
We have just never seen a boxer at that level attempt to make the transition. Or an athlete whos hands are that good.
Why risk injury and fight for pennies, when you can box pro and make millions per fight?

MMA cannot support top level boxers. Yet.

its not really if u punch like a boxer kick like a muay thai and have the mat work of a jujitsu ull dominate mma

That was brutal. Razak's arm fortunately was only dislocated and not broken, but it sure looked like it hurt.
