  • wooooooooow i really relaxed me

  • it's a kind of Theremin

  • isnt that just a theremin

  • @mycahman No, it is a piece of your brain, because you really don't have some.

  • @mdognirvana you apparently dont have one either considering your ignorance of my comment. I dont think you think you know what a theremin is.

  • @mycahman I don''t have one, indeed. But dude, wtf, read the freaking comments and you see that it's already a fact that it is a theremin.

  • Romania got talent;) We love Brasov

  • BRAVO...NEA POPESCU.....UN...BRASOVEAN

  • just a thermenvox

  • Yes, clearly a Theramin. Not at all surprised at the idea that he built it himself, there are lots of books/ webs sites about building them. Buying one ready made is a whole other issue.

  • theremin, look on most portishead albums, or bill bailey live, cant find one of these to buy anywhere

  • I Believe the instrument could be a Theremin

  • lol it's funny how having the two words "made" and "inventor" in the same paragraph can trick people into thinking that this guy invented the intrument.

  • Ok, i want a Theremin like this one!!!

  • It sounds like an Opera singer.

  • Romania doesn't need inventors?

  • He is not sliding his hand on anything, just moving it in the area, and i'm sorry for the quality of it, I made it with a Casio Exilim . You can find more videos of him uploaded by clicking on my username.

  • Poor video. Can't even see the thing very well, to see how it looks. What was he even sliding his hand on?

  • i saw him tonight in our town.....lovely music.....God Bless him :)

  • Strange isntrument?

Its been around for fricken 90 years by now, where do you live?Under a rock?

  • Oh, but he did. I'm not saying that he invented it, but constructed it!

  • thats an teremin.

  • It's a thermin, he didn't make that himself

  • yea its called a theremin.it was invented by some russian dude who's last name was Theremin.

  • i fucking hate the theremin....

  • I' v seen many instruments but this i have never heard nor know about.

  • theramin

  • this is a theremin people, old news is old

  • it sounds like an opera singer

  • interesting! the sound kinda grow on me.

  • nice theremin

  • Home made theremin!? nice! My band uses one 2 (moog), f***king hard to play. check my music on youtube or myspace

  • He uses his left hand to control the pitch of it I think.

  • i think its vicar ashley off emmerdale , what he does in hs spare time LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • very good theremin! really sounds like a real human voice

  • pimped-out theremin.hahah

  • random , listen to this wen ur well stoned , it takes u to a fukkin weird place

  • sounds like ufo music haha

  • thats a bit more tech than a regular old theramin. :) lol

  • this is a theremin, he did not invent this

  • this is a thermin i doubt he invented it

  • its a CUSTOM built THEREMIN

  • @Glitched0ut But the left hand is the right and the right is the left and instead of more sound by take your left hand up you do your left hand down

  • sounds nice :P

  • yea like every1 says its a theremin

  • Still sounds like a Theremin. Excellent pitch & technique!

  • that works a lot like a theremin!

  • Awesome but weird!

  • i love theremins! :D

  • Popescu Benedict, I was in the army with him. From Bucharest

  • THAT IS AWESOME!

  • That like a thermin

  • pope benidict??????? did any 1 get that

  • funny notice :D

  • Ah ah LOL :)

  • really goood.

  • you can make a theremin contained in a disneyland mint box

  • o my god, this music is just beautiful!

  • Oh, a theramin. Those things are truly...strange. However, I've seen theramins made using Nintendo Wiimotes sync'd with an iR sensor controlling a synth. I've also seen a real theramin outputting to a microphone which then went through a guitar FX board and amp. Really neat things you can do with these if you use your imagination.

  • wow he has great control over that thing ...

  • yea he didnt make that.

  • I said made, not invented...

  • and i said make................ not invented.

  • its called a theremin

  • I bet you're the first person to say this.

  • lol

  • this little device outdates all our current technology and synths. Its truly a dinosaur, and obviously still has a lot to offer!

  • wow, this is in Brasov, Romania, on the Republicii street, right?

  • Right.

  • theremin, as said before.

never seen anyone play this well on a theremin before though.

    nice vid

  • I finally clear what song this is called..

The song name is Reve Ta Stogne. It's an Ukrainian folk song.

  • very nice music!

  • its called a thereimen

  • what is it

  • a theremin

  • What da...!!!

  • i never saw a theramin like that. home made, maybe?

  • Yes, made by the player himself.

  • it sounds like a saw

  • yes...it's a theremin, a radio distortion instrument played without touching it.

  • its basically a pitch blender and a thermin

  • sounds awesome, and in a strange way beautiful, but at the same time kinda creepy..

  • that sounds like a realy awsome sound intro to a movvie about gladiators or something

  • Was this filmed in Brasov, Romania?

  • Yes, it was.

  • Holy shit! Jedi!! 8O

  • i've used one of those things -they are amazing

  • At 0:35 and 0:55, hand gesture and pitch don't correspond. But very good musical saw playing (he should bring the saw to his gigs, not only the recording)...

  • it's called a theremin

  • The guy's pulling yer leg--- his hand movements do not correspond to the sounds coming from his "theremin."

  • I'm not so sure. He's consistent of the four vids currently up with him on theremin. This one is certainly live --> watch?v=dZ-HwzO7HeU

I think the range of the instrument is very limited, so notes are widely spaced, pitches are quantized to be in tune and the vibrato is added electronically - it is very even in width and speed and continuous. The second pitch antenna makes the pitch field very linear, according to his website.

  • you are right. not all sounds come from the theremin. Only the one that sounds a bit like a choir or something. I think the rest jus comes out of a speaker. but when those two are combined they make beautiful music like this.

  • Nice, very interesting, in a good way =P

  • sounds EPIC

  • is this from a sergio leone film it sounds just like it

  • wow a left handed one too!!!

  • nice music....

  • Tis a homemade Theremin.

  • his is so cool, wish i knew the song

  • Wow u wonder what song that is it sounds so cool think he made it himself?

  • it's a theremin!!! not strange! it's fantastic!

  • sounds like a saw...

  • strange? that's a theremin

  • Yep.

  • is this a theremin with background music or is everything attached to the device??

  • its probably prerecorded but the voice is genuine most likly

  • thermin!!

  • that is creepy

  • I found his site: benedict-popescu , domain ro.

  • Its called a theremin.

  • I want one!

  • ya, there are instruments like this that use electrical waves or something called the theremin

  • what is it?

  • sounds awesome

  • Anyone know the name of that song? It is beautiful. I would love to hear it all the way through.

  • As far as I know it is an Ukrainian folk song, try digging that way.

  • lol he ment the instrument

  • It's possible he indipendently invented it himself, it's quite an obvious thing to do once you know about the effect...

  • ya thats a weird type of theremin

  • somehow the music makes me think of Edward Scissorhands (spelling?)

  • Thats pretty cool. it sounds like someone's singing.

  • its a modified theromin for sure! you can but a little one of ebay for £50, good for trips one imagines!

  • sounds and handles like the thing the beach boys use in good vibrations

  • Actually, The Beach Boys used a tannerin on Good Vibrations, not a theremin. But they sound very similar.

  • its called a theramin there was a guy i russia that built it during the great potatoe famine i think but i knoww that guy didnt make it
