I'm sorry, but the "bored, unamused rockstar" bit for the most part is just that, a bit. BUT NOT FOR DAVID. He has enviable ability to stupify all query.
He's right about Aladdin Sane sounding better in retrospect. That is one of the greatest Rock N Roll albums of all time. I grind against the bars on a subway train when I listen to it.
He's so cute. I love him, he looks good with his fixed teeth but i love his crooked smile and smirk so yummy haha -giggles- For some reason alot of people like the crooken smile...i have crooked teeth kind of and people tell me they think i'm beautiful and have a nice smile and to not change anything and i'm like....but they bug the fuck outta meXD
A great period for Bowie...for me that period remains his most exciting work and possibly the quintessential Bowie sound. Though Bowie is still thought of as the Ziggy persona, the references 72-75 are still very much American whereas his work 76 through to 80 has to me personally a greater appeal due to its experimentation and 'wordly consciousness'. As relevant and influential today as it was extraordinary then.
David Bowie possesses, was born with, the most sexual, sensual, delicious, delectable lips, teeth and eyes that I have ever ever, ever seen. And so very desire.
@yunaxxx There's nothing wrong with liking the way David Bowie looks as well as sounds. Sorry but he just happens to have legions of female admirers who find him sexy as well as liking his music.
are you serious? did you respond to a single point of mine
anywho, his function in society would be more to make music (i would assume) then to simply provide a face for us to look at...or wait no you just tried to refute that ...alright then
did you not see the part where i mentioned that comments are not being made about the music as much about the look? or does this seemly logical fact fly right by your decency to retort an appeal of a "feeling based" comment
Bowie is one of the few muscians in which image and his look are important for his iconic stature. He's not like Dylan or Springsteen where he just sings and plays good music. People have been and always will be fascinated by the way he also looks .
This is why I responded to your post about people going on about his appearance rather than his music. I actually responded to most of the points you made. We ALL know he is one of the most brilliant music makers ever... but he looks damn good too.
Just because I´m talking here about his looks doesn´t mean that I haven´t talked about his music. I have all his officials albums and could talk endlessly about his music and I have. But this time I commented on his looks. So what, it doesn´t mean that my social life is in the rut or I´m foolish. I think you´re the foolish one.
Isn't it funny how a composite portrait of the two left sides of his face yield an English Alain Delon, while the right sides would amount to Yootha Joyce? Try it at home or desolated bus stops ....
lol ! Well this 50 year old man thanks you for posting this. 1980 was a great year for Bowie. I remember how proud I was of him for getting such acclaim for "The Elephant Man". I never saw it. I couldn't afford a trip to New York. I'm suprised nobody ever taped a full show.
4:38 when he laughs ^_^ and 4:18 when he has his tounge out and then he quickly put it back in like hes all embarressed :)) i love this man. i REALLY want to meet him :D
It's a long time since I've watched somebody who's character and mentality is so interesting. He seems so cool in the interviews but he's obviously engaging with the interviewer and not being surreal for the sake of it. He's an interesting mix of eclecticism matched with a very keen intelligence. It's still a peculiar juxtaposition how a man who has been so successful both in the media and financially can come over like he isn't really bothering to try.
How illuminating this man has been on an inspirational part to the timeless creative universe!!!! Ah how i would adore his presence! Happy sixty-three years my roll model!
How come at the beginning, the interview says. welcome to Australia. Then it says NEW YORK 80? That has always confused me.. Where is this interview taking place? Maybe the play NY, interview Australia?
It takes place in a New York Japanese restaurant, but it's an Australian TV show so he says "welcome to Australia". The interviewer is known for saying strange things.
David is so cute when he tries to take those notes away! I love him so much he is the best! He always will be the best. He is so hot an awesome and hot. I hope he makes more music soon. David Bowie rocks!
OMG David is so cute when he tries to take those notes! I love him so much he is the best! He always will be the best. He is so hot and awesome and hot! I hope he does more music soon. David Bowie rocks!

all of the clips from the elephant man are so moving, that must have been a very hard role to play and it looks asthough it was so simple. its beautiful, and i got a little teaty. hes so talented.
I think Meldrum sounds more like he's about to take an exam on "The History of David Bowie" and he's quickly jotting down all the answers by asking Bowie himself, rather than doing an interview. He rapidly goes through each of the Bowie eras, but doesn't seem interested in the answers.
That was always the problem with Molly. The questions were more like statements (often overlong - watch an interviewee's face as Molly tries to complete his question). There was no logical flow to the conversation as Molly never understood the responses, often interrupting them to get to his next pointless question. You can understand why Bowie suggest they discard the question sheet.
Well said. And I wonder how these people get to interview people on television. I could do a better job! At least he isn't deliberately insulting like Russell Harty.
AHA! I only read the discription after I had watched the video and I knew it was Miso he was sippining into the interveiw. I never knew he played in a play How dare I call myself a fan. Haha well what good show.
I saw Bowie in Chicago in The Elephant Man. He was excellent. Worked much better than his film acting, and this was a very tough part, requiring a tremendous amount of focus, and subtlety.
I cant quite agree. I dont know why but his acting in the movies isnt anything more than average aside from the labyrinth but then I see his play whitch is absolutly astonishing. Maybe its a conflict of intrest?
I agree. It is the world's great loss. He is a superb actor. One of the greatest, perhaps the greatest. Sad thing is, back then, if you were a musician already, no one took you seriously as an actor. Especially if you were David Bowie. No-one who did not live back then knows how very very shocking he was in the 70's. He was marginalized, he was the epitome of everything that people feared and did not understand. Words cannot convey how very unreal he was artistically. It was da da
Yes that's true but some part of this "unreality" were simply musicians he worked with. For example Fripp's guitar or Eno's electronics. Bowie would never make this on his own.
What is it with these miserable little,exhaust-sucking, botched lobomty rejects imposing their pathetic ignorance onto thoughtful, and creative artistic posts? There's no shortage of compatible, like-minded,leech-sucking inbred scum out there to bond with. Wrong turn lads!! Go south, and you're a mere flush away from drowning in your own collective ahem....fluids, bon voyage.
Did the intended context get lost somewhere sawbird? I was responding to the botched lobotomy who thought David was coked up in the interview, I have zero tolerance for ignorance and lies. Are all systems go now? Excellent then, I wouldn't want the truth to evaporate into the symbolic ether, cheers.
Yes, Spark, I see the know-nothing remark now. YouTube is clogged with ignorance from a generation of kids who think everything that came before them is rubbish. It is a result of a style of parenting fashionable in the 80's called "empowerment of the child". Now they're empowered adolescent misanthropes.
Well, I'm in middle school and have an obsession with David Bowie and the 80s and I'm not ignorant. In fact my next birthday party is 80s themed and I would do anything to actually live through the 80s, exspecially 1983.
invite some people that lived through the 80,s as young dudes, people acually liked each other in those days no fighting at home party,s good times i meet bowie myself in 1983 he is a true artist good stuff
sure did,i filmed him on my home movie camera and gave him a kiss {i,m female} this happened at the airport it's good to know that this kind of music will live on because of you younger people out there i must respect you for that
Um, I'm 15 and I adore David Bowie(though I must admit I liked his music in the early 70s far better than his 80s stuff). We think everything that came before us was rubbish? No way man. Its the stuff that we have now that's rubbish. It was "before us" that music was actually good. Well, that's my opinion anyway.
I mean I can occasionally find stuff I sort-of like in an ish sort of way. But I can find nothing that even closely compares (in my mind anyway) to people like David Bowie.
WTF...Been sucking on deisel exhaust again mate? (hint)witness the lucid and articulate man during yet another critically acclaimed segment of his astonishing career.John&Yoko were loyal friends. Bowie has more talent in his left testicle, than the entire genepool of your inbred ancestry, lol.

DAVID BOWIE IS A GR8 MUSICIAN 2.

Bowie is one of the greatest actors of our time.

I cant quite agree. I dont know why but his acting in the movies isnt anything more than average aside from the labyrinth but then I see his play whitch is absolutly astonishing. Maybe its a conflict of intrest?
Kasumikyou 4 years ago

Thanks for posting this. Bowie still remains one of the greats.

Ah, this is so beautiful...I was transfixed at the age of 3 when I saw this on TV. Thanks sawbird! x

I'm actually more impressed with the eloquence of the insults on this page than anything.
its so refreshing to see people using a nice vocabulary rather when arguing online, rather than talking like retards while ARGUING ONLINE.
oh irony.

Go south, and you're a mere flush away from drowning in your own collective ahem....fluids, bon voyage.
sparkalot 4 years ago 2
why is he acting like that??
brakspbfun 4 years ago
what the fuck?
brakspbfun 4 years ago

"Diss" away, kids.

Well, I'm in middle school and have an obsession with David Bowie and the 80s and I'm not ignorant. In fact my next birthday party is 80s themed and I would do anything to actually live through the 80s, exspecially 1983.
bowie1983 4 years ago
invite some people that lived through the 80,s as young dudes, people acually liked each other in those days no fighting at home party,s good times i meet bowie myself in 1983 he is a true artist good stuff
star1959 4 years ago
Did you actually meet Bowie in 1983? Just living through that year (and remembering it) gets you in my book!
bowie1983 4 years ago
sure did,i filmed him on my home movie camera and gave him a kiss {i,m female} this happened at the airport it's good to know that this kind of music will live on because of you younger people out there i must respect you for that
star1959 4 years ago
Thank you! I would love to meet him. Is he charming? Is the video on YouTube by any chance?
bowie1983 4 years ago
Um, I'm 15 and I adore David Bowie(though I must admit I liked his music in the early 70s far better than his 80s stuff). We think everything that came before us was rubbish? No way man. Its the stuff that we have now that's rubbish. It was "before us" that music was actually good. Well, that's my opinion anyway.

out of every generation/ years comes at least a couple bands that are great, you just need to open your mind

im 15 too. and i totally agree with you =]
tho there is stuff we have now that i love.
AlkalineTrio15 2 years ago
cool!
what stuff exactly?
I mean I can occasionally find stuff I sort-of like in an ish sort of way. But I can find nothing that even closely compares (in my mind anyway) to people like David Bowie.
BdALpye 2 years ago
WTF...Been sucking on deisel exhaust again mate? (hint)witness the lucid and articulate man during yet another critically acclaimed segment of his astonishing career.John&Yoko were loyal friends. Bowie has more talent in his left testicle, than the entire genepool of your inbred ancestry, lol.

On drugs or off who are we to judge. This man is stunning and talented. There isnt anyone like him.
