  • hey do it got a 13 speed tran

  • Comment removed

  • that looks like the origional bj and the bear kenworth it has the sticker on the side

  • correction *was that the engine.

  • not to sound like a rube but was that the engine that sea offered in the freightliner superliners?

  • Frame is too long in my opinion Sorry. But still cool....

  • some of those were only rated to about 525 hp ,,, it may not do as bad on fuel than most think ,,, we had some off highway trucks at work ,, the one with a 12v did the best on fuel

  • see that

  • I wanna hear this run when your done!! Awesome looking truck!!! I remember these so well back in the day..

  • How Many Liters?

  • @Desmodromic916 -- 12V71 means it has 12 cylinders of 71 cubic inches each. That adds up to 852 CI, or about 13.9 liters.. Detroits are 2 cycle engines so they put out more horsepower per CI than 4 cycle engines. My last truck was an International ("cornbinder" in trucker language) with a 6V92 that put out 335 HP. 2 cycle Detroits aren't built anymore since Daimler Benz bought Detroit Engine Division.from General Motors Corp. No big loss, they were very thirsty and leaked oil like a sieve

  • or Create a video response * How does a 12v71 compare to a Big Cam 400

  • Please keep us posted on the progress.

  • love to see that after its all done up ...awesome

  • Love the K100 and 12v71, but the chassis is just retarded.

  • Seriously awesome.

  • See that?

  • dont care too much for the stretched part but its nice

  • fresh looking detroit engine.

  • too bad the turbo or turbos aint there

  • looks like you got the 12V71N.

  • Fire that pig up!

  • awesome K-WHOPPER!!

  • Nice patina finish.

  • Holy shit man, that truck is a bad ass.. Great project man.

  • First truck i ever drove was a Chevy Titan 90 with an 8V72, 15 Direct in it. That thing flew. Nothing like doing 90 in a Cab-Over. Keep us posted.

  • I will try to get another video update soon.

  • hey is that in oakland cali

  • @MrJevonmartin No, further south it's in Long Beach Cali.

  • @BreathDoctor That is gonna be one serious rig when it is done. Too Cool

  • and now the question,

    CAN WE HEAR THE V12?!

cant wait till i hear the roar of a 2 stroke v-12 diesel...

  • My friends got the 12 pack running already but they are to busy for me to go down and shoot the video will see if they make some time I want hear that monster roar.

  • 1mpg!!

  • @MackAttack59 Nah not even 1.5 mph tops. LOL

  • Stretching frames is my specialty...when it comes to trucks, especially when there's no glider kit involved. A lot more work to it than a glider...which involves cutting of what you don't need...as opposed to butting in what you do need...

  • @SteelKahuna We (My Dad and Brothers) have put together a few trucks ourselves there is nothing like the feeling you get when you can say you built yourself. From streching the frame to repowering or regearing or any mechanical on a truck.

  • That is what it's all about!!!! I got in some arguments with pipe welders who though they were the best on the planet. I explained that our projects go on the highway...some of these projects pull over 40 tons net weight on & off highway...

They wanna disrecpect me by swearing @ me, not realizing I can snap their necks w/a flick of my wrist...

  • This is actually my friends project. Your right it feels good when you go out and work with a truck you built . Your sure of all the components you used and all the sweat and long hours you put into it.Makes it worth while when you can say I put it together myself.

  • Was that engine original?

We had a few KWs with 12V71 in Australia, mostly W series but I know at least one was a cab-over on trans-continental express work in the 1980s, very fast truck.

I'd love to have a big cab like that on my KW.

  • @gm16v149 It originally had a Cumins. The 12v71 came off a W900a extended hood Kenworth.I like the way it's turning out . I will try to make and update video .

  • is this the truck from the Pilot Episode of BJ and the Bear?

  • No thats not it.Looks like it though.

  • Sure looks like it, dont it?

  • The paint sceme was a very popular paint scheme in the 70s.That's why it looks like it.

  • We Still Build CabOvers Here In NZ. But Rerely LongNose's?

  • I believe you can still order k100s here in the states also.

  • @hanks1961kw

Yeah Us Kiwi's Or NewZealander's Prefer The US Truck's Than The European.

You's Have Kept The Clasic Trucking Look. As Where The European's Now Build Truck's To A Car's Feel.

  • 当時の純正カラースキームにチューブタイプアルコア&バイアス縦溝の絵柄が和むやぁね。。。

    萌え☆

  • Translation please.

  • freightliner still makes a cabover

  • Your right the freightliner argosy is still being made.

  • Is it safe to be in the cab when the cab is lifted?

  • I wouldn't trust it my self but I've seen people in them when the cab is lifted.

  • because of more liberal overall length restrictions.

  • Cabovers were made to meet wheelbase restrictions here in North America for the highways here. Once most of those restrictions were lifted, the need for cabovers went away.

  • @spencnaz

I have heard that before, but I can't find what those restrictions was about, lenght and so.

  • if i were u id take the pete air out and install kw nothing like a uniformed truck if u going to make it as nice as i think dont take short cuts go all the way

  • I agree with you we own about 7 kw projects they all have 8 bag kenworth air ride even the two axle has 4 bag air ride but this truck aint mine check out our 62 kenworth video ans 1975 kenworth alaska hauler and our 50 54 kw video all kenworth upgraded parts. No mix and match.

  • yeah but if your driving it and know anything pet air ride is kinda nice... im an 8 bag fan, but if i ever cut my fram im putting a pet air ride under it.

  • You know what I was talking to the truck owner just this weekend and that is the reason why he streched with pete air ride .

  • Kenworth with Peterbilt AirRide suspension? Why? It's a shame it don't have a kenworth big 6 suspension in the rear.

  • Your right Blejzzz I don't like to mix and match if it's kw it should have 8 bag air ride but this truck ain't mine it's a friends.

  • Aww man u jus dnt kno! Ma father and I kant wait 2 fire tha sucka up and hear that old V12 lope! Everything iz all hooked up and ready 2 fire, jus waitin 4 our guy 2 kum out and run tha racks!
