depending on your immune system, it can last from 1 week to few weeks, depending on the severity

use eucalyptus oil in your bath, 3/4 drops use it daily. great treatment for shingles, if not sure check it out on other web sites. my son just diagnosed with it and has settled him down this evening.

i was diagnosed with shingles 2 days ago & the pain is extreme. I am in my mid 40's & have had chickenpox as a child, can someone please tell me how long they last? doc put me on 2 scripts. an antibiotic & one for itching. Neither are working so far but,it's only been a few days.

Can anyone tell me if there is a cream to put on them? most are still in the blister stage & others are just red streaks trying to scab over.

if you have shingles dont take tylenol. Go to the doctor have it checked so you can get some antivirals from them

oh God, ..i'm so sorry dude. i'm 19 years old ,, i had shingles last summer.. .. and i just can't stand the pain. i was taking Aciclovir.. it's a great pill.. i had it from my left buttock to the groin.. .. but the scars never go away ..

Shingles is a herpes virus,in fact its the same thing as chicken pox. Its completely different from simplex viruses. I have the exact opposite of phn, i had a patch below the last left part of my ribs. Its all numb from all the nerve damage

is herpes zoster (VZV) the same as herpes (HSV1) or (HSV2)??? cuz i have them in the right side of my chest and i dont know if its shingles or herpes (HSV)!!! im scared as shit!!!

INFO: For all of you who don't know, you can't get shingles unless you've had chicken pox. But if you have a shingles rash, you can give someone pox who hasn't had chicken pox, just by them coming into contact with it.

The virus goes away after a while, but remains dormant, and can be reactivated later = Shingles If you have a shingles rash, you should avoid sharing towels, going swimming, or playing contact sports, in order to avoid passing the virus on to someone who has not had chickenpox.

Are you sure you had shingles 15 times??? It would be extremely rare for a person to get it twice --- much less FIFTEEN times!

do you have HIV? the only reason to have shingles more than once or twice is if your immune system is constantly being suppressed, either by HIV, or some cancer treatments (chemotherapy). to answer another question, shingles can leave scars and is very painful

I'm only 17 years old but somehow I managed to get shingles from chicken pocks, but it's scabbing over so it's not contagious.
