But most of these flicks were essentialy comercial ( made to make money ), .. and they're just like most hollywood movies in THAT respect. Only diference is these flicks used kinky sex, violence and lurid sensationalism. Wheres Hollywood similarly uses "hot" big-name celebrities, popular songs, silicone tits, and high-tech computer visuals. Same principle essentialy .

The scenes are so real that I wonder if it used actual recordings, but I saw that. It was a masterpiece of Italian director Deodato, to capture the cruelty of the two ciivilizaciones, one that is said to be cultured and the other natural, but both the cruelty has no limits.

Very good movie, unlike any other Italian film is excellent.

These are what I rented as a teen, all the splatter titles, the gorier the better, to see if I could stand them. IMHO they didn't get gorier than those by one Hershel Gordon Lewis. He directed Bloodfeast, Wizard of Gore, The Gore Gore Girls and the origional 2,000 Maniacs, to name but a few.

Lol it actually had a lot more behind it than Blairwitch Project or Paranormal Activity, I mean it was about something on purpose, most superficially media, but if you watch close enough, it gets pretty deep. I think a critics sort of overlooked its depth as a result of the violence, however the violence almost becomes necessary

An expoitation flick has more to do with sensational subject matter ( like sex, violence,.. or whatever ) than artistic or technical quality. It can be any kind of movie,.. even a godzillion dollar budgeted Hollywood film with high tech production and big-name celebrities in it's cast can be exploitation.

I remember as a child, going with my parents to Downtown L.A. to see those types of movie, they usually featured a bunch of Kung Fu and Horror movies.
