No, his toes were already on the white line as soon as the ball slightly touched his finger tips, meaning he didn't have enough time inbounds to establish control of the catch. He's only been successful in the league due to his "return" abilities, other than that there's no place for him. No one taught him in his 9 years how to return kicks, it's instinct. You either got it or you don't. It doesn't take a genius to know, it just takes a football player to know....

The reason why he didn't jump was because the ball took him out of bounds. Had he tried to stop and jump which takes time to decelerate and push off the ground the ball would've sufficiently gone past his head, especially since he's 5'8.
