Just so you folks know, this band got together during the recreation time at camp and spent a total of about 4 hours rehearsal time just reading charts. Total rehearsal time for this tune was maybe 20 minutes.

So it's not the best version, but it's more adventurous at least. The drums are trying to do something special rather than playing it safe. And that sax solo is the one saving grace that makes this worth it.

@littleshortkid I also agree that the song isn't very hard. However, just listening to this I can tell that this band isn't comprised of a group of students who are taking full time music. If you had only taken three or four terms of music, in a HighSchool level, I seriously doubt you could successfully play this song well.

(Do you play trumpet? I don't, but I know that hitting notes that high over and over is a very difficult challenge for people with limited experience.)

The director looks more into it than the band does. That's the problem you get with school bands it doesn't matter if the group have 5 for 9 awesome members, one slacker can bring down a group.

Though I have to say, this is not an easy song. and all the YouTube posters know that. The reason why the SeatBelts can pull something like 'Tank!' off is because they all get into it and pour their hearts into their playing.

Next time they perform this, they'd better decide on whom to follow-- the drums or the bass-- because the drummer was playing like a rock drummer (keeping the beat) when that role usually falls to the bass. The drums got the accents just about right, but everything else was just too much (that could have been acoustics, though).

It sounds like tempo was sacrificed a bit for accuracy, and that's probably the best choice.

sounds like it, but unpolished. the timing is a bit sketchy here and there as well as a few of the instruments, primarily the wind instruments with varying levels at which there playing isntead of a smooth flow.

Bass and sax nailed it, and overall it was really well done for schoolkids. 4/5 stars for them :)

Altissimo is a bitch to do; I've been playing for ten years and I'm now finally starting to attempt it. It requires an entirely different method of playing from what you're generally used to. That said, kudos to the soloist - very impressive playing.

However, I am inclined to agree with everyone else - it dragged. Even if it was prepared quickly and without too much rehearsal time (band camp performances can be that way), it should've been...much faster. Sorry to say it.
