  • I am confused as to why you do not play the pedal C with your lips on the mouthpiece properly?

  • was that a g or a c

  • you suck real hard!

  • @poopoo111222333

    LMFAO

  • Wow a little less pressure on the left index finger LOL beautiful horn great sound thanks for posting

  • wooah wat type of trumpet is that?

  • THATS A RAD TRUMPET DUDE

  • what does "zips" mean?

Very impressive range. Can you post yourself playing some music? THanks!

  • @tadd1 I thought all human beings are equal.

  • I can hit the E once in a while...I wish I could make my range better

  • I have taken lesson from Jeff Smiley at Skyline H.S. In Dallas. HIS METHODS WORK!!!! My range went up to a high G by the time i was a senior!! He also introduced me to the Dinacola mothepiece which i love and still use today!! Thanks for posting.

  • hey uwe!

super videos.ich habe die zufällig getroffen:)

    Eda

  • You see,hes trying to grip the mouthpiece more with the red muscle of his lip in order to get the grip support for his high notes. If he used a smaller diameter mouthpiece that would happen automatically where he wouldnt have to make it happen.

  • i think it's a ganschhorn

  • Schagerl Gansch trumpet as used by Mnozil Brass, rotary valves

  • I can definitely see the utility/benefit to this exercise, as well as the one in your other video (descending intervals). Jeff Smiley. Thanks for this info.

  • its a very common german design of horns. You all just are very narrowminded in your knowledge about the craft.

  • wierd trumpet great sound

  • That is one weird looking but nice sounding horn lol.

  • great sound!

  • I know nothing about the Balanced Embouchure concept, so my post my reveal my own ignorance, but wouldn't taking a breath in that manner reset the embouchure? I've been playing a lot of James Stamp exercises and was warned that taking a breath through the ascending arpeggios would negate the overall effect of them. Like I said, I know nothing of the BE concept, just looking for a little clarity. Thanks.

  • nothing wrong with breathing during arpeggios, depending on where you take the breath.

if you are breathing right before a "difficult" part of the 'peggio, you may end up changing your setup. try breathing a few notes before what you would find difficult (a nice comfortable breath, not a superman breath).

Good to do this now and then, to lengthen each note, and make you a bit more musical for when you are actually playing a tune (helps with pacing during soaring ballads).

  • Wheres that Dubba C! HAHA just kidding! Check out some of my vids as well. I play lead in a Big Band in Austin, TX and always focus on having a balanced embouchure so I don't move around while playing. Can you do those pedals with out rolling out your bottom lip?

  • excellent

  • It's the new Martin, designed by a committee on shrooms.

  • what you do to play these notes acute ????

  • that is one bad ass trumpet u got lol

  • I think that is a Bach R2D2 3CPO model

  • Lol.

  • wow you drop your trumpet (just kidding), i find that the best trumpet is a bucher!

  • what kind of trumpet is this?

  • It looks like a Gansch Horn, look up Mnozil Brass, the lead Trumpetist Thomas Gansch plays on it. I have no real idea, though...

  • Very nice. I am a junior and high school that can play a double g but have a lot of trouble on low notes around a low g. This might be something worth looking into

  • a Ganschhorn made by Schagerl

  • BWAAhaha...

    "shag girl"

Who NAMES these horns and companies, anyway?

  • It's a Schagerl Ganschorn, designed by Thomas Gansch, leader of Mnozil Brass

  • Yes, that's right

  • what kind of trumpet is that?

  • I have been doing BE for three months and I just wanted to know if I should keep my lips on the mouthpiece throughout RO #4?

  • This is the most important exercise in my opinion. Start with lower lip out of the MP and try to get is in the MP when you are going higher in a very smooth movement. Uwe

  • I have never heard of this 'roll lip' idea. Please contact me with this book. If your in the eastern states of USA, I would like to speak in person (knowing that it might cost money).

  • LOL he's just blowing a raspberry down a trumpet

No disrespect :P I have no idea how to play trumpet Im a drummer.

  • ma ti te se matt!!!

  • I'm not a trumpet player, I'm a saxophone.

What is this techniuque used to do?

All it seems to me is that he's using his tounge to add and extra 'roll' almost.

  • it's not his tongue, it's his lower lip rolled out. this method is in a book; it's supposed to get your lips acquainted with exaggerated roll out and roll in so that your lip range of motion finds a balance and is not limited to what the author calls the limited range of motion for most trumpet players.

    p.s. i'm a sax and a trumpet!

  • holy hell, hes good :o

  • Looking at the structure of your face and listening to the focus in your sound, my bet is you already had a good embouchure and these exercises were 1. easy for you 2. made little/no impact on your existing setup.

  • had to come from somewhere...

  • lol nice one

  • check out jeff smiley and his balanced embouchure online. he has a book that i've become really interested in within the past hour of researching it. it claims to be able, unlike any other book, to help ALL people play the trumpet, and not just the lucky ones. i dunno, the exercises i'm guessing came from that book... maybe this guy IS a professional, but the book could've helped his range and sound quite a bit, you never know.

  • Nice.

I call the lowest here a double pedal.

You can easily hear that this tone is really a semitone sharp, and that is theoreticly correct. so why not playing the note on second valve instead of lipping it down the semitone? Not to critiize, just asking...

    You do sound great!

  • Fantastic! I've been working on BE for 6 months now. I still needs lots of work but I'm getting there! You sound great, best of luck.

  • What kind of trumpet is that?

  • It's called Ganschhorn. Schagerl from Austria build the trumpet for Thomas Gansch.

  • nice man any tips??

  • coool trump dude

  • You get an amazing sizzling tone from that Ganschhorn!

Very clean, centred, focused and powerful!

  • Wow, Respekt. Dieser Mann hat es absolut drauf.

  • exactly, its a so called "Ganschhorn" from Schagerl, an idea of Hans and Thomas Gansch

  • Damn you're good!

  • I think that's the same kind of horn the lead trumpet from Mnozil Brass has.

  • Is there name for those wierd valves?

  • It's kind of a cross between piston and rotary valves.

  • that is impressive

he is going from double pedals to double highs

    thats cool man.

  • Why do reset your embouchure when you get the G? you've got a impressive range but don't reset ur embouchure bra lol

  • This exercise pretty much requires you to reset your embouchure. I would say that embouchure control is only a small portion of this exercise. For me, this is more about air control and endurance. When you zip from a pedal to a core note, you're too closed off to play anything really high. You basically have to reset your embouchure.

  • mynamesisdan-are you deaf or something? this sound is of the highest caliber..

    this guy sounds like Herseth!

    stupid prick

  • uh, i can't find the comment that i posted here, but i doubt that i was talking about this guys sound. so before you assume shit, why don't you figure out what it is i was really talking about. you fucking jackass.

  • wow

  • I am surprised by some of the moron's that replied to your video. It's difficult to do appregio's from pedal tones. You sound good. If shoegazer had a clue. He'd realize that the "tee" (tongue level) will cause a more narrow oral cavity, which would allow less volume therefor "more pinching sound." Spass, yousound good from the pedal all the way up to double register.

  • the high tones sounds rather pinched. maybe you shouldn't shift around so much but rather depend on the tongue for pitching. pivoting's fine but tricky since most players tend to close up the aperture. try pivoting the opposite direction instead.

  • Nicer fog horns out there! Guess I could post a video response but we don't need more unpleasant sounds on the net ..do we?

  • The person in the vidéo, is it mister Smiley or Spasstrompeter ? I am working seriously with this method since a few weeks (6 ?) but until now I have no results... Will comment in a few months...

  • You're a stud. And that's a type of trumpet I've never seen before... I think I'll look it up.

  • Have you shown Mr. Smiley this video? Sounds great.

  • hei! javivila8!!! there isn´s a a correct way to play the trumpet...teachers try to teach his own way, but a good teacher knows that there´s a big chance to don´t work for everybody! if Smiley´s method is working to Spasstrompeter, is the correct way for him!

  • why would you want to do a lip roll thing anyway????

  • google "jeff smiley" or "balanced embouchure"...

  • a question: could you tell me which is the mark and the model of your trumpet?

  • its a Ganschhorn made by Schagerl/Austria

  • Woh, your trumpet is trippin'. I got a Bach. How long did it take to get such high pitches?

  • To try to make all most flat... who succeeds and worthy of praise..... in the second place there are too much scalini in the sound, too much force and violence, for me no good ... sorry

  • pretty cool although i noticed the break on the middle G to high C. I have the same thing going. Ive always noticed that i have to shift my jaw ever so slightly when i work pedal tones into the rest of my range on the horn.

  • That's pretty cool, however, I don't believe anybody can start that low then just effortlessly do that. I think you can easily do that because you barely have any front teeth. That's why your lips roll in so easy. Lucky you. Anybody totally disagree??

  • Very nice. Which model Gansch Horn are you playing?

  • great stuff . how do you get the top lip to roll out ?

  • really nice

  • How did you do that.. With so smooth change in pitch especially in the pedals.. Could you teach us more.. Awesome!

  • Yes, a Schagerl Ganschhorn.

    Uwe

  • Is that a Schagerl?

  • nice :-)
