i like this bee. with a body that big, im not surprised its house is on the ground - any tree hive these bees make will be empty after they go out to pollinate cos they wont be able to buzz high enough to get back in!! :D

I am just afraid that this is a male Megachile sp., leafcutter. Mason bees are Osmia species (the same family, Megachilidae).
