I have come up with a really easy design for a bluetooth servo controller by combining 3 off-the-shelf components: A Mini SSC II Serial Servo Controller, an EB-501 or EB-505 bluetooth serial port, and a "battery doubler" circuit to allow them both to run off the car's 5V power supply. However, isntead of using the phone away from the car (which I think is kind of gimmicky), I actually mount the phone ON the car, and then control it with a joystick via a live video feed over the internet.
The mobile phone uses a custom written Python script that does the graphical visualization and transforms the movements into steering commands for the car.
On the car, we have replaced the wireless receiver unit with our own Bluetooth module and a small microcontroller (again with custom software), which translates the protocol into the standard way of communication from any toy car.
The truck you see in the video is rather low quality and also not in the best condition anymore. However, the new truck is based on a metal frame and much more stable - no problems so far!
Interesting to hear - was he able to buy the Bluetooth module for the RC car somewhere or did he build the module according to the instructions we have released?
lol, good point, but doing this to a real rc car isn't very far fetched. If you have a 2.4ghz system I'm sure you could figure it out, eventually! lol
Or this think relly needs rpm sensor, because if, were must of better picture from your wep page from pdf document am not to make out of information, where were got or what kind of rpm sensor used (type).
I am apologising myself because of bed English, because me doesn´t go best(writing)
how much is this i went to the site and if you add all the equiptments its 300 euro thats more than $400 and i dont even know if you need all that and its $500 for the phone
its not fake, its not camera motion sensors its called an accelerometer and the N95 has one. You can use PythonS60 to get data from the accelerometer and send it to the bluetooth RC and control its movements, did you see the N95 light sabre program? That uses the accelerometer also and the bluetooth mouse program
It is real. In the meantime we have adapted better cars that have transmission etc., allowing much better control of the car. Read detailed information and building instructions at the site linked to in the video description for more information.
At the bottom of the project page you can find the documentation download:
symbianresources(com) -> projects -> shakerracer
We removed the original wireless receiver and replaced it with a custom made microcontroller that allows the Bluetooth communication between the mobile phone and the car.
tht particular phone has motion sensors and is easy to prgrm aps for, this program utilises the sensors and blutooth to send controle signals to the car. if the k8ooi has blutooth and u have enough time to write a program it would accept its techniacll pos to do sommit similar
Well, essentially it can be compared to using a steering wheel - which is a more natural way to control a car than by some side-positioned turning wheel and a pistol grip for speed. E.g. when you drive a curve in a racing game, you also bend your whole body, when you accelerate, you go back, etc. ShakerRacer can be seen as translating these natural movements to the car.
Well, disregarding my personal feelings on the "natural" way of driving it, its an amazing bit of technology, I just personally would prefer a pistol grip or multi-function aircraft style controller, but, like I said, thats just my opinion. It is an amazing piece of engineering, just not my cup of tea.
Well I am old school hated pistol grip controller and it is just a wank factor if you do, a real driver will always go old school and use the paddles (like rc flight but 2 channel) why because you have much more control with your thumbs using your left index finger for speed/brake is not natural.. your brain has much more natural control over your thumbs, it is that simple.
I beg to differ on that. But, seeing as you just a person who goes through old comments just to find something to argue about, your opinion makes no diffrence to me. I have much better reaction time with pistol grips than anything else.
As you can see in the video as well as read in the additional information (and will shortly be able to see in the full documentation), we have modded the car so that it can be controlled via Bluetooth. In this form, the standard remote control can not connect to the car anymore - it can only be controlled by the phone.
Standard Bluetooth has a reach of about 10 meters. The microprocessor is developed in a way so that it stops when the car gets out of reach of the phone.
This is too late and too expensive. I need source code for MSP430 launchPad and application software for Android platform.
