@nightkinsoldier, lucky you are having such adorable cousin; it seems that heaven itself addresses to us via Clio's beauty and brilliant talent. It's pity that wiki and many other websites show just restricted data about her; many thousand of us (insane fans of her) need essentially more. Warm regards to you, and wishes of great success for Clio!
Miriam is a real artist. Lovely voice you cannot fix in any particular place, and a great original composer. Apparently a white woman, but in reality she has mixed blood.
@TessandPebbles By "Who is She" who are you referring to? The only comment I have posted is about the violenist. Since you're at Miriam Stockley I'm guessing you mean maybe Lara Fabian or Mary Hopkin. I need a name to go with the question "Who is She?"
@TessandPebbles Sorry, just realized that because of Cox being down and I was worried about my computer giving me some weird messages so I did a "Restoration" from three days ago, It may have removed my activity for those days. Anyway by "Who is She" what name are you asking about.
the violinist is Clio Gould - have no idea who the singer is, decent voice but the real start is Mrs Gould - have followed her career, one of the geniuses that grace London's musical life... And its a gorgeous instrument she has.
@sorim1967 Thanks. I thought it was a boy, hense my comment about the Tom Petty hair cut. Thanks for clearing that up and thanks for the info. That was awesome playing. The one instrument I would have like to learn how to play. I guess it's never to late to learn, but also is expensive to learn. So I guess that will never happen. I'll have to content myself with listening. I would probably be aweful at it anyway, being arthritic and all.
I just discovered you today....Thank you for sooo profoundly moving and inspiring my heart and soul....What joy-full service you are bringing as we co-create Heaven on Earth. Thanks to your family for sharing your loving gifts with us....Infinite blessings to you and yours now an always, in all ways....
This is the only time that changing something classical really worked. It usually turns great pieces into elevator music. but this is rare and very beautiful. I have listened to it so many times.
No offence intended, but you asked the question as though you were surprised there could be a different lyric. I'm sure you also know that when a piece of music is out of copyright, anyone may write their own lyric. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Lara Fabian's version, but I'm sure it is excellent. I hope you like Miriam's version as well.
Bellisima interpretacion, el adagio de Tomasso Albinoni es una de las mas bellas composiciones musicales de la historia pero sumado a esta maravillosa voz. se convierte en un una de las bonitas interpretaciones de esta música.
I know that does not want to offend .. I just wanted to say that I can hear these works in an Italian clear .... maybe I am wrong .. I am not an expert ..
Sorry, I meant no offence, but you actually said the accent was "too English". You are welcome to your opinion, it does not offend me and I am happy you posted, and somebody else already agrees with you. However, the (Italian) author of the lyrics said her accent was charming, that's all, and when I asked "Did you understand what she sang", this is because I am really interested to know if the song was successfully communicated to you or not.
When Astrid Gilberto sang The Girl From Ipenima, it was a huge hit in the Britain. But would it have been as charming if she had a perfect English accent? Personally, I think not. Did you understand what she sang and did you enjoy the music and the lyric? i hope you did. Thanks for the comment.
I have been chasing her all around her discography here on Youtube and I must say that her range and repertoire are unmatched She has as many looks as a chameleon, as many modes and moods as required by her amazing applicability and I have never heard her fail
Muy hermoso, realmente no se que quiera decir la letraa de la Cación, pero al escucharlo de la Voz de Miriam Stckley, pareciera Amigos que lo estuviese cantando un Angel. Dios quiede el talento que tiene esta hermosas Dama
Miriam is a vocal genius. I have been a fan for 20 years when she was singing backup for the PWL guys. If you have not heard the CD she did as Praise. GET IT! Brilliant. She should be a star in the US. (I am working on it Miriam)!
I agree! It's sad how no one over here (US) seems to have heard of her! She even lives in the US now, so she should be more well-known. Let's spread the word! ;)
I fell in love with this incredible singer when I listened the first Adiemus CD. I was just amazed with her perfect pitch, vocal range and that mixture of sweetness and strongness, all in one. That perfect pitch enabled her to create those tribal (first CD), incredible choirs as if they were additional instruments. She's just awesome, unique!
Amazing, isn't she? She's my top favorite vocalist because of her incredible range, pitch, and ability to sound like an opera singer and an African children's choir at the same time ;)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The TUNE is King here - it is Albinoni's Adagio for Strings and is most effectively performed by full church Organ and Strings 'tho this has a nice feel to it - it is not faithful to the original and loses it's true significance (for me) the moment it begins to deviate from the original at 1:25 (btw I'm a fan of Ms Stockley's voice and abilities)
Being directly involved in this, I welcome all criticism. Nobody in claiming that this is a definitive version - it is simply a different interpretation of a beautiful piece of music. I wonder how you feel about Paganini and Rachmaninov's variations on a theme, Purcell and Britten's YPG, Mussorgsky and Ravel's orchestration of Pictures at an Exhibition?
All interpretations are worthy of consideration - my opinions of the other titles to which you refer are just that, my opinions and will remain so for the purposes of comments about THIS video - thank you for asking. I do not criticise anything about this fine performance; simply that the 'amendments' lost MY dedicated involvement after a certain point. I find Albinoni's original truly 'complete' so I felt the changes were neither required, nor necessarily beneficial.
Just for your information, we recently discovered that this piece is not even by Albinoni. Apparently it was constructed in 1957 by an Italian musicologist from a two-bar fragment thought to be by Albinoni. So Albinoni's 'original' was not complete at all.
I heard and saw this video on OMusic 2300h on New Year's Eve. What a glorious way to end 2008 and begin 2009. I was entranced with the sound made and the excellent presentation. What a beautiful voice.
Miriam has one of the best female voices no doubt. It sounds very rare sort and absolutely beautiful. It does'nt disappoint me without Adiemus either.
Sarah Brightman is great. because her talent, not because her ex- husband andrew loid weber, today she is not merried, she is the only soprano sold out millions of copies around world, great voice, check when she sing nesun dorma, for example.......only the great clasical singers can sing that particular piece.............
oh my pls look up (adagio in g minor). sry, there were no lyrics or singers, it was just organ music, this her way its not original, dang i feel bad saying this, because i love miriam stockley.
Beautifully done. Does anyone have the lyrics? It sounds like she's singing in Spanish. Sara Brighton sings a version in Italian... These are beautiful lyrics....
I listened to it very carefully one more time, because I speek both italian and spanish and yes, it is very hard to tell because her pronounciation is very heavy and sound spanish when she says "quando", but it is italian.... Thanks
I much prefer this version because of Miraim's pronunciation. This song is so beautiful that it gives me chills.Every song ever written should be translated into Italian :D
Miriam is a true treaure to the music world. Music and lyrics that blend into a magical combination. Her performance is flawless! 5 stars all the way.
10,000 views and I may be responsible for about 100. If there was an award for the Most Perfect Song, this would be my nomination. I just wish I had a translation of the lyrics. If you search for other versions of Adagio, you may find that nothing else comes close to this carefully crafted piece. Miriam, you are terrific!
Thank you for your comment. others seem not to agree with you and I'm glad we can all like different kinds of music, or it would be a very dull world.

And to think she played a major part in winning the Eurovision Song Contest for UK!

I still love Lara Fabian's version. Beautiful rendition here... but Lara was able to... make it her own, and that says a lot about her...

Sarah Brightman is great. because her talent, not because her ex- husband andrew loid weber, today she is not merried, she is the only soprano sold out millions of copies around world, great voice, check when she sing nesun dorma, for example.......only the great clasical singers can sing that particular piece.............

SARAH BRIGHTMAN!!! wise up - she's rubbish and can't hold a note. The only reason she has made it as a pop diva is because of her husband.

Beautifully done. Does anyone have the lyrics? It sounds like she's singing in Spanish. Sara Brighton sings a version in Italian... These are beautiful lyrics....

it's in italian...........
miakara 4 years ago
I listened to it very carefully one more time, because I speek both italian and spanish and yes, it is very hard to tell because her pronounciation is very heavy and sound spanish when she says "quando", but it is italian.... Thanks

She is singing in italian too, but her pronounciation is a little bit different from Sarah Brightman's

I much prefer this version because of Miraim's pronunciation. This song is so beautiful that it gives me chills.Every song ever written should be translated into Italian :D

love her other stuff, but this is a bit too dramatic for my taste.
