This is or was a great sounding snare drum. Can you tell us a little more about the drum's specs? For example... DW's web site says it's available in either 10-Ply or solid maple center. Is this the 10-Ply? Also, was this DW's standard shell grain orientation? The reason I ask is because it looks like the outer ply was a short or vertical grain which gave a very cool look. Thank you.
@XxStrongDrums1996xX it actually turned out to be a 13x7 he was using. it turns out its really hard to get that half inch down when you have the metal and wood
@baxslol He is using a 13 X 7 now because DW stopped making the 1/2" sizes for the reason that you stated. As far as I know, he was using a 13 X 6.5 back when the edge snares were very first designed because DW hadn't realized the complications yet.
How loud is this compared to other edge sizes? Because I don't like it, when it becomes too loud. But this one seems quie normal in loudness? Is that correct?
This is the best snare and size! Love it!

@XxStrongDrums1996xX Well technically he wasn't endorsing DW when the edges were first designed, but everything else is a valid point
