  • i have dual boot so that means i have two operating systems such as ubuntu 10.04 and windows

    vista buisnes

  • good work sentv1d

  • guys, simply go to ubunbtu.com to download the newest version of the OS for free

  • For those that are asking about how is it possible to "buy" a free OS, there are some websites that explain the GNU-GPL (General Public License). Just Google it!

  • On an Intel Xeon W3690 , 16gb DDR3 RAM, 160gb SSD, Ubuntu 11.04 boots in 4 seconds and Windows 7 Ultimate boots in 10 (both fresh installs).

  • @craioveanu95 OMG!

  • On a seagate 7200.12 500gig hard drive 10.10 starts in about 6-7 seconds,That's damn fast.

  • @jessiethe3rd only like 40 million people...

  • Hey look... someone actually runs Linux Desktop...

  • "Скорость загрузки Windows в VirtualBox на Linux (kubuntu 11.04)" можно посмотреть в моем канале в плей-листе "Linux"

  • Both have their strong points. I'm a Windows man but don't like some of the limitations, and Ubuntu is good now I'm using it but it isn't compatible with a lot of my hardware, like my USB headphones.

  • The Ubuntu default desktop still looks better than your customized Windows 7 desktop.

  • This test is meaningless. So Windows boots up 8 freaking seconds later, while running an AV and a Firewall....(which the Linux distro wasn't)...

Moreover, seeing how Windows is superior at pretty much anything that is multimedia, gaming, and work related, I'd take it over garbage distros any day, at any time.

Now let's look at professionally done benchmarks:

    bit .ly /2woqz

    Windows boots up faster. :)

  • @duckISaRETARD Youre not realising linux dosent NEED any of those, there arent any viruses compatible with linux and hacking into a linux is harder then hacking youre way through a windows with several firewalls. also the windows operating system has few but very heavy files to load, linux uses many light weight which is easyer for the computer to load up and they also respond betther.

  • @duckISaRETARD If those were really "professional" they would have used more than just Fedora for testing.

  • @duckISaRETARD Plus, did you even read the full article? There's no benchmarks there... It's all about how Linux features are more improved than Windows features.

  • what are you doing ? You are waiting on linux for connect a internet, however on windows you wait for redy to use...If you wait on windows for connect a internet ; windows is goning to open 40s second..

When open the linux ; its ready to use.But on windows , you have to wait for prepearing setup antivirus, firewall or something.Ubuntu is faster then windows. Please make a video , under the same conditions.Wait for connect a wireless or when the open windows/linux , click the browser for open.

  • ubuntu for human begins

  • It depends on the computer, some computers cannot run ubuntu as good as others do

  • hahaha! Winsucks P4wn3d by Linux!

  • when i loaded windows 7 on netbook it would take 15 to 20 secs on ubuntu its the same

  • it is fake theres benchmarks prove that windows 7 startsup fastest.

  • Sorry but this video is fake...I just tryed this same test and ubuntu took 22 sec to get to dektop and windows 7 took 12 sec (saved desktop) and 20 sec straight load...but I must say though that if Ubuntu would correctly control my HD 5770 without crashing I would uninstall windows

  • esto video es un asco. windows 7 manda!!!!

  • @jose15032010 eso lo dices por que no has probado linux ^ ^

  • Ubuntu is epic, windows is epic fail. thats all i have to say.

  • I would like to see the test after regular use for 1 year or so haha

  • windows have some bad boot up problems? ask LINUX :D

  • so you can boot into ubuntu fast... so fucking what?

  • @pathovore not only does it boot faster but ubuntu is just better than windows.

  • @pathovore so it's better for spies.

  • @pathovore

You can do everything in Ubuntu faster.

    'nuff said.

  • @h1ll37 give me some proof bitch haha no but really just sayin

  • @timpster93

that's just out of personal experience. Windows == biggest resource hog.

  • @pathovore Oh come on, you and I both know that if Windows won you'd be rubbing it in our faces all over the comments.

And FYI, you can do EVERYTHING in Linux faster. Other than gaming, there's nothing Linux doesn't do better than Windows.

  • @pathovore *laughing at a windows freak who's to poor to buy a free OS*

  • @thenewnoob123 Buy a free Os?

    We Can Buy Something Free?

  • @HarryCpuMan err...

  • @HarryCpuMan Under the General Public License (GPL) it's free as in freedom, not free as not to pay, meaning that the code is open to share, modify and distribute. But most of the time, Linux can be found free. there are some versions you pay for, for example, the full version of Mandriva (They got free versions too). Ubuntu Linux happens to be free of costs, plus, it is maintained by the community, so if you have problems with it, you can always find help.

  • @rockwoofer I can't get my OnBoard video card AND my ATI video card to work simultaneously on 2 separate displays. Nor can I get my USB HDTV Dongle to work, and I've looked for help. Since you're here... Whats the solution? Thanks! OH PS, they all wrk fine under windows 7.. so it seems I may have to use virtualbox to install windows 7 inside ubuntu... but then, what about call of duty 4... oh dear, dual booting still it is... no answers?

  • @pathovore thats what the hell im sayin shit

  • Its just what operating system you prefer most ^^

  • If boot speeds get you wet, look into XPUD

  • I could really care less about the startup/shutdown time of Linux or Windows. All that I care about is the fact that when Ubuntu boots for me, DIRECTLY after I hit the desktop screen, I can launch Chrome, which launches instantly for me. Windows, not so much.

  • OMG! ubuntu <3

  • I have virtual box and run both so ha XD

  • @masterLoki do you know that everyday 30.000 new viruses are found on windows ,and that viruses were founded by microsoft itself? ,and that now they get a lot of money for antivirus programs ?

  • Linux ownz !

  • Would you say linux is better at multitasking and handling more apps running at the same time?

  • @MatchCard Yes. Definitely. It manages the RAM more efficiently than Windows, uses less RAM overall (the system), and you get virtual desktops (which can be further enhanced with Compiz Fusion).

  • I use linux but it's not enough to be a fan and idolized the system.

  • 7 takes longer to boot then it's fast

  • The difference is, Ubuntu will still boot at that speed ion several months even a years time an longer, whilst Windows will get slower over time.

  • The difference is, Ubuntu will still boot at that speed ion several months even a years time an longer, whilst Windows will get slower over time.

  • UBUNTU is the business! I just dl'd 10.04 two days ago. I have never had a linux product before. omg, it destroys vista. my vista is sooo friggin slow. even to start detecting wireless signals it takes extra time when turning on.

start up ubuntu- bam! internet ready. so happy with ubuntu. :D

  • "the only that you cant except fact"

I think I win this one

  • Windows still did good...atleast we have more and better programs than Ubuntu..and more support forums cause 93% of people use Windows. What like 1% uses ubuntu lol FAIL

  • @hitman7112 cool story bro, where'd you get those statistics

    facepalm

  • @inkbullets Look it up jackass....its fking everywhere the only that you cant except fact

  • Comment removed

  • freshly installed ubuntu cant play mp3, you should compare it with mint instead

  • @machvelocy What are you talking about? It does just fine.

  • Face it Windows users, your OS has a W in it's name!

  • @googleaskyahoodogpil Only 1?

    Swodniw...

  • Linux is the best and steam will be working on linux by the end of this summer and early next fall Yes FINALLY

  • linux rulez!

jajajajjaa windows es igual de bueno, lo unico que le falta a microsoft es hacer que sea mas limpio de virus!

  • @masterLoki if u lame enough to run daemons as root or allowing them to mess with stuff then there is no matter its linux, windows, macos, *bsd or even amiga u use

your lamering will ruin it all, not bugs

  • @masterLoki yeah

    linux trojan (c) microsoft

unrealircd is not linux nor gnu

and its impossible to trojan by unrealircd unless u runs it as root

  • i have installed win7 in my PC... Is a fucking shit, its too slow!!! slower than XP, I have windows cause my family likes windows but i use ubuntu allways...

  • Yeah another comparison after 6months would really be nice to see. Ill bet Winblows would be crawling by then.

  • I have a pentum 4 1gb ram with ubuntu 10 and boots in 48 sec, and a dual core 2gb ram with windows 7, and lasts more than 1min D: why :D ?... also, windows 7 takes 1 gb of memory, ubuntu in my p4 300 mb only >_<

  • These are clean installs. I bet the difference is getting significant after 3 month of usage.

Anyway, I like both of them. I'm using Ubuntu for office and internet stuff, Windows for gaming and video editing.

  • this comparisions are stupid... the startup of an operative system require that all os files are loaded to RAM... so check the times of Ubuntu and Windows and then compare to amount of ram that both os's loaded.

    W7 almost 800mb vs Ubuntu almost 300mb

after that you can say wich one is faster ;)

  • you just earned another subcriber ;D!

  • @grojasc86 i like ubuntu :D its fast but 1 reason i dont use it is

1 THIS DONT HAVE GAMES LIKE MW2 :@ official

    I have windows 7 ultimate

    3 way sli gtx 280

    4 GB RAM

    INTEL CORE i7 920

And the boot time is 17 or 20 seconds :DD

for me windows 7 is alot better then mac and linux

BECOUSE I HAVE VERY GOOD HARDWARE hahahaha :DDDDDD

windows 7 rated to me 7,3 :DDDD

  • @iron888888 ehm.. liar..? i have amd anthlon x2 +6000 processor @3,2Ghz , 2 gb ram and have 19 secs of boottime with windows7 ultimate.. and i have over 10 games on pc.. .. Hm

  • @iron888888 Hardware's irrelevant in this, this is comparing boot times based on how well the OS is built, not the PC it runs on.

And I agree that Windows is better for gaming, but in the grand scheme of things - thats all it's good at.

  • @grojasc86 Least your not a fan boi lol. I hate them so much they're like GET WINDOWS 7 I'm like I can't old computer haahhaahhahah that's one advantage Ubuntu has over Win7 is It can be ran on old computers :D

  • @grojasc86 look, windows is just crap. but, it's the only SO where you can run games.... for now.

i'm a Ubuntu fan, tried a lot of distros, but i still use windows 'cause of the games... that's the only reason. as soon as wine + mono work 100% (never, most likely prbable), then that's the end of windows empire...

  • @HacKan2007

I think pretty much the same about you, I only use windows for games, emulators are all covered up already but windows games not always work with wine.

  • @grojasc86 Mac is faster as its optimised for the limited hardware mac runs, if you look at the physical spec of a PS3 it is garbage but the games are optimised for it and it runs well.

  • @ShadowEater120880 I hear ppl say the new macs crash with photoshop .... whats up with that

  • @timpster93 No idea, I don't buy Apple's garbage as my intellect exceeds my cash =D

  • well I guess the difference is ommitable....

  • @jakubolek87 The difference is not so ommitable. The more you use win-doze, the more it gets slower and slower. And if you scan for viruses, clean your registry and scan for spyware, win-doze will still need to be reformatted in a year or so to keep it's install speed. None of that applies to Linux.

  • well, it proves what we all ubuntu users know: ubuntu is always faster than windows, and with a lot of improvements that windows will never have.

    thanks!

  • @forkboy27

    indeed!

     good vid, thanks.

  • @forkboy27 While I LOVE Linux, quit acting like a fanboy. The difference was very minimal, not enough to boast over.

  • @NevermoarTV The difference is not minimal at all. Just wait a year and do the test again. What you will find is that win-doze will slow down so dramatically to the point it needs to be reformatted while Linux will not ever slow down. It will stay as fast as the day it was installed.

  • @NevermoarTV maybe if you multiplier it by the amount of programs you open evry day it might make a difference idk if Linux is faster in opening and closing programs that should be the test and benchmarking

  • @NevermoarTV

forkboy isnt a real linux user...

the linux community never makes idiotic comments like that,

because you know... the linux community is actually modest and awesome?

  • @NevermoarTV minimal difference and still it is just linux.

  • @NevermoarTV even if minimal on this case, it IS enough to boast over, since you get ubuntu for free, meanwhile you pay quite a lot for seven!

  • @Portokallishqip Considering what you get with 7 (Don't try and be an intellectual by actually spelling it!), such as compatibility, speed, and a windows based OS that DOESN'T suck...it's worth it. It's cheaper than Vista too. There's a fine line between software being better because its free, and people being cheap.

  • @NevermoarTV

compatibility? Maybe, if you're an Autocad/photoshop PROFESSIONAL. Otherwise, alternate soft/wine is just fine.

    Speed? lol

windows based os? exactly, it sucks

people being cheap? dude who cares, I can install a cracked copy of windows (and all the soft you want) in just minutes. Yet, I choose to use a Linux based os

    why?

One of the main reasons is security: do you have ANY idea on the security on windows/linux? ANY?!

    want more? whylinuxisbetter. net

  • @Portokallishqip The comeback window really closed about 6 1/2 days ago. Security isn't an issue on Windows if you're not a complete and utter incompetent moron.

  • @forkboy27 I've tried Ubuntu, i even have the wubi installer for Windows with the Iso file on my hard drive and i can say it has no comparison to Windows. I've used 9.04 and 10.04 and all it's good for is internet browsing and Compiz, you can lie to yourself all you want but i actually use both of them, while the fancy effects are nice, i won't lie about the OS's performance, i have a quad core with 3 GB ram and Windows is way better, everything starts/runs faster and runs smoother in Windows.

  • @grandmastgarth Wait 6 months or a year. By then your beloved win-doze will slow down to a crawl while Linux will keep it's same speed as the day it was installed. Win-doze needs to be reformatted periodically to stay fast.

With win-doze you also need to be paranoid about viruses, adwares, and spywares.

Why people are willing to pay money for the worst OS with full of security issues is beyond me.

  • @pepelapiu2004 Ehem, I've never once got a virus or spyware. No i do not have an anti virus. You are just weird, you try to say we're paraniod but in reality, we're not. Shutup fanboy, you attempt to say it's better for an unknown reason to me, you did't participate in the making of the OS and yet you try to brag about how good it is. I've tried linux and it's shit, I used Windows 98 up until 2005 it didn't slow down, i used also Windows Xp and Vista and windows 7 and all are fast compared to Ub

  • @grandmastgarth You used Win98 until 2005? And you expect us to believe you've used all the other MS OS's and Ubuntu for any extended period of time? pepelapiu2004 is exactly right. In little more than 2 years with Vista I've had to reinstall three times. I played with 7 for a short period of time and it is basically a better demployment of the Vista architecture. Not much more than that. Finally tried Ubuntu and am impressed. Much faster. So why don't you grandmaster these nutz and stfu.

  • @winstonsmithization Haha, there is no need to repeat what i said because i have not denied saying it. Ubuntu is not better than Windows, fanboy, I just don't understand.. It's obvious that all who like it, only like it because of compiz rather than what i can actually do.. which is nothing. No, Windows 7 is way faster to me.

  • @grandmastgarth I use ubuntu cos I can run all the random crap I want and it won't crash on me. ._.
