Whenever I see something from the Stones in film footage or video no matter , I see not only what great musicians and performers they are , but also , by seeing them visually it further focuses on what it looks like to understand what great music lovers and listeners they themselves are and how mature they sounded while still only in their youth themselves all the way back to their begininnigs !
Only film of the Stones filmed before Brian died. Taped 16,June 1969. Taylor's first appearance playing?miming with the band. Mick is singing live to a backing track. Rest of band are miming hence the lack of amps, guitar leads and non existent choir!
I love the lyrics of this song. Children should have to learn these lyrics in school, instead of listening to Justin B.-kinda fake artist of nowadays. (No, I am not an old man who thinks everything was better in the past) I thank my dad for learning me to appreciate meaningfull music.
Can you hear Momma Troy in the background? Doris (Just one look) Troy is also on the Dark Side of the Moon and Power to the People. So underrated! She was the best!
Well mimed. That's my favourite Stones lineup. I think Billy Preston played keyboards on this. I think it may have even been Brian Jones doing some of the guitar work on the original track. In the clip Mick Taylor was just posing off and miming bar chords. That's a beautiful Gibson Hummingbird Keith is playing. That's why I had to have one and bought the Hummingbird Modern Classic. Beauty in sight and sound.
Amazing shot. Keith didn't like this miming thing at all. I'm right now reading Keith Richards's "Life" and I'm "around this era" in the book now. Yeah, a lot of drugs 'n' shit goin' on but what a creative period it was for Stones in the late 60's early 70's - the music speaks for itself.
June 16th? Damn, to think Brian was still alive. I know he was fired initially, but I've never seen any footage of Mick Taylor playing BEFORE Brian died, always been Hyde Park onwards.
mick cant write stuff like this anymore...whenever i pick up the newest stones cd it sucks balls...the songs suck and the audio of the mixes is horrible
the shit made on primitive equipment sounded far better and the songs were far more sophisticated
today they have either ignorant arrogant dumb as shit nigga rapper or pop queens like bieber, katy perry and gaga...all drivel and worthless
@ChiroQuacker - yeah you have a point, man ...but they never pinned themselves to any age did they? ..I mean..when disco came out in the late seventies they released 'Miss You', which had a definite Bernard Edwards/Nile Rodgers influence...and besides...valve amps don't work with digital mixers!
billy preston claimed he came up with the "miss you" hook but was shocked when he got no credit...
dylan says he hasnt heard a well recorded album in decades...i agree
stones will tour in 2012...guaranteed...50th anniversary..hope billy wyman comes back...they are far better "live" with him and charlie as a rythmn section
@ChiroQuacker - bloody hell I'm trying to think of a 'well-recorded' album ...erm...Reznor did a good job of 'Antichrist' in mainstream stuff ...but I suppose one could cite KT Tunstall and Luther Wainwright as having someone who knew what they were doing on the desk? ...I don't get into the studio much these days/decades.
@ChiroQuacker Thats because Mick Taylor is out, there was a collaboration on the song writing even though it says jagger/Richards on all of them even Ian Stewart was an important part of the band ,they only had one hit wit Wood with the band!goes to show!
@huguenot40 goes to show what? Only one "hit" with Wood? Do you have any idea how long ago singles stopped being important to the Stones? How many "hit" albums have they had with Ronnie Wood? Well?
@welcome2myhell by hit,i meant albums that are gone to be acclaimed as masterpiece by critics like Let it bleed,Exile and Sticky fingers.....Most fans if you read comments on Stones Youtube posting all agree Mick Taylor departure left them with some lack of creativity and specially when playing live like in Get yer ya ya`s,he brought the band to higher level. You can listen to his solo work and you`ll be amazed.Wood is good but nothing like Taylor.
