  • Is it me or does Maurice look exactly like the 11th doctor from Doctor who?

  • The man who wrote this song, his sons wrote the songs for "Mary Poppins", "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", "Jungle Book", "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" ... the Sherman brothers :D

  • This should be the anthem for all optimists.

  • Maurice Chevalier once used ukulele in his songs, but then he took and arrow to the knee.

  • @Propscrewrider

  • @Propscrewrider that was Tiny Tim you fail!

  • @jdiger101 it was a joke.....he knew that

  • @mwk323 to which comment?

  • ... It's not the same .... He doesn't sounds insane

  • Chevalier would write deathcore music if he found out about starbucks.

  • spongebob is better.

  • I can't tell which is better; the original song by Al Sherman and Al Lewis and Tiny Tim's version. Ah, heck. They're both great. Thanks for posting this gem! Maurice Chevalier is pretty comedic in this one.

  • ... this makes me feel like the splicers are coming for me. /shot

  • RIP to the both of them

  • TO THE KITCHEN! WHO'S HUNGRY?

  • loooooool tiny tim sound's beter than him

  • @Menosfisher2 Yes but this was before him

  • I have to say that Tiny Tim's cover is my personal favorite. He's a good singer though.

  • aah a lot easier to listen to than tiny tim

  • tiny tim is better

  • tyni tim hat wohl nicht ein einziges Lied selber geschrieben.

  • Awesome.

offtopic but it reminds of Bioshock

  • Tiny tim is way setter

  • i can tell you that this one sounds more "genuinely" happy than tiny tim, but i do prefer tiny tim yay. heck their both good ~!

  • I love his French accent. *_* I like Mr. Chavalier's version the most out of all versions I've heard.

  • I like Tiny Tims version, but I prefer this one the most to be verry honnest :3

  • they played this song in SpongeBob lol

  • A great song, and this is coming from a sixteen year old :P

  • great song , i love the 40's , 50's , 60's 70's and 80's , actually anything before the 90's is fine

  • Thank you for posting this

  • Hmm, really like this one but it needs something... something like... ukelele... (:

  • Written by Al Sherman and Al Lewis, who also wrote "Wearin' My Green Fedora" for the Merrie Melodies cartoon of the same name, as well as songs for the Betty Boop cartoons.

  • I wonder if Chevalier would still be happy if he had to pay $7 for a coffee.

  • @ZechsMerquise73 10 cents in 1930 would have been roughly equivalent to $1.30 today. So yeah, $7 is still ridiculous even if you consider the decrease in monetary value over time. That said, where are you going to find a cup of coffee as cheap as $7?

  • @LightsofTomorrow

    lol not from starbucks ....

  • @ZechsMerquise73

    he would be 73% happy

  • @ZechsMerquise73 hey let me use it for books.

    I bought a book for $15.

In the 70's, you could buy 6 books for that price.

Imagine how many books you could buy in the 30's!

  • @HuggableSpongebob let's not forget the country was recovering from the Great Depression

  • @ZechsMerquise73 When you adjust 10 cents in 1930 for inflation, it's worth around the same amount as canned coffee.

  • @jooshiscrazy 10 cents in 1930 had the buying value today of around $1.37 (wolframalpha /input/?i=0.10+1930+dollars)

  • They should've put this song in bioshock.

  • @rbdtj199 ikr..

  • @rbdtj199 or fallout new vegas :)

  • @gavrokk both really good games :D

  • @lordaquaman This IS the original version (from 1930), the version by Tiny Tim was from the 60's. Easy mistake to make though, Tiny Tim's version is a lot more well known.

  • i love how Maurice sings with his French accent. tiny tims version was just as great. i listen to this every day now since I first heard it

  • Also, JeffHendrie is butthurt.

  • @beamingatyou I'm not even sure what "butthurt" means.

  • Tiny Tims version beat his ass

  • french assholes

  • feel like playing fallout now.....

  • Great lyrics ... just makes you smile!

  • I pressed the like button anyways :D

  • @1337treeckolol it says 1930 right in the vid title man are you from the united states

  • ;_; Sorry, sometimes I'm ignorant. You're right. My bad. *blond moment* Ugh.

  • Maurice can't touch Tiny's version.

  • @bmajor981 Yeah, cause Tiny's one is hillarious!!

  • i like tiny tims version of this too. I didnt know this was a song from the 1930's.

  • Pepe´ La Pew?

  • very nice by playing bioshock :D

  • Tiny Tim sings it better with his zany take on it. But the lyrics of the version that Maurice sings are much better than Tiny Tim's. So they're bothe even.

  • Can this guy have any more typical french - english voice?

  • @whopper1209 I like french- english great accent but I hate french- french XD

    it is weird

  • Maurice Chevalier is French you morons.

  • @NyBob85 fuck you dick

  • maybe a song for in the game bioshock??

  • @debandmember nah, it'd serve better in a fallout game

  • I love this song better than the other versions. I didn't even know it existed until this was posted {can't believe I didn't post this..}. LOVES IT

  • Geeez, this is brilliant, can somebody give download link for this version?

  • Wow!

  • I'm so obsessed with this song, haha. Brilliant work from Chevalier, but I must admit I'm more of a sucker for Tiny Tim's eccentric take on it. RIP!

  • @FollyxXxFallen i know! i listen to this song every day

  • Wow this is really old. Sounds fantastic. I can't help from tiny tim making this so popular but the is great!

  • Haaa, I love the lyrics after the usual ones Tiny Tim sings ("I go swimming with women..." LAWLZ)

  • it's not that Tiny Tim's is better. His zany sound just fit well for the scene in Spongebob.

  • I like Tiny Tim better. Sorry Maurice!

  • @brittanybug10 I don't think it's that he sucks, I think that Tiny Tim just makes it a lot more enjoyable to listen to. Maurice could barely speak English lol and Tiny Tim just kinda put his own spin on it and made it his own.

  • @lifehouse57 I just deleted that comment. I was mad at the moment. So I am Sorry I said Maurice Chevalier sucks, but Tiny Tim just makes it sound so much more joyful and lively.

  • @brittanybug10 Oh I understood what you meant, and I totally agree :)

  • @lifehouse57 Okay Good. I think Maurice's version is just okay, but Tim's is more fun and joyful.

  • superb french accent :)

  • I was named after this guy!!

  • I like this version. And bing's version. and tim's version. Maurice does better than Bing though. Tiny Tim's version is just fun to listen to, but I really can't take his singing seriously. So musically, I like this one the best.

  • i have heard 6 version of this song and this is my top 3 favorites

    1. Maurice Chevalier

    2. Tiny Tim

    3. Bing Crosby

  • I have heard this song sung by 6 people and i have to sayall of the ones i heard these are the top 3.

    1. Maurice Chevalier

    2. Tiny Tim

    3. Bing Crosby

  • I have heard this song sung by 6 people and i have to sayall of the ones i heard these are the top 3

    1. Maurice Chevalier

    2. Tiny Tim

    3. Bing Crosby

  • who started this tiny tim or maurice chevalier???????

  • @MrSkull96 Maurice Chevalier released this in 1930, Tiny Tim released his version 38 years later in 1968.

  • Tiny tim is better.

  • i wanna see someone cover this song

  • You call Tiny Tim's version campy and call this a "superb original", yet this is boring and dreary, whereas Tiny Tim's version is entertaining. Also, you call Tiny Tim "campy", but this Maurice Chevalier is clearly French and therefore more camp than the rest of the world put together all by himself. Plus Tiny Tim could probably kick his ass.

  • @l2enegadesofFunk u sound like a dick head

  • @hinata750 And you're an idiot. The difference is I was trying to sound like a dickhead. =]

  • @l2enegadesofFunk makes no sense

  • @hinata750 It makes plenty of sense.

You're an idiot, but you weren't trying to be an idiot.

I'm a dickhead, but I was trying to be a dickhead.

  • @l2enegadesofFunk It makes sence only if you like to put people down for making a point that you're being quite immature. I do admit, my comment before this may have sounded that way, but of course, it's quite obvious that you've offended me highly, and I am able to accept that and now comment like a mature adult, not an IM-mature adult, but a MATURE, adult. (Caps was used in this as a way to put emphases as for a ittalic, bold, or underlined, area.)

  • @l2enegadesofFunk Oh? So french people are boring? Dreary? and "Campy" whatever that means as it's clearly negetive? I'M 1/4th FRENCH BUCKO. IT WAS MADE DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION, EVER HEAR OF IT? IT WAS BORING, DREARY, LIKE YOU SAY THE SONG IT SO IT FITS THE TIME. You just got on my bad side. CONGRADS. This is from the great depression, (as I said), so if you don't like how the originals were made, TOO BAD, DON'T LISTEN. You don't like the depression, TOO BAD, IT HAPPENED.

    -Case closed.-

  • @JeffHendrie lol. One fourth French, so you get offended by an ironic comment made about French people. Rage more.

  • Comment removed

  • @swarfegahead Fuck you bitch, he actually has a point, Besides you muthafucka' so Pack up and fuck off n00b

  • @nikthepilot Okay... I think you went a bit overboard there, no offence. Just sayin'. If it results in swearing, I could maturly believe it's a bit overboard. Again, no offence meant.

  • @swarfegahead I'm sorry, did I say anything to you? He insulted me, I have a right to state that in any way I want, and I use caps, for emphases, not yelling, not that when I "Yell", it's with an exclamation point, NOT caps. And I highly doubt there's anything "ironic" about that comment. Expecially ehwn note who helped America during the Revelutionary War... one of the countries, (if not the only country), was FRANCE. People used to have RESPECT, now, none for anyone but themselves. A.K.A.-you.

  • i listen to death and symphonic metal and i have a like for this kind of music i dont know why

  • enjoy them both, dont forget bing.

  • I like Tiny Tim's version, but this is really cute, too. :) I mean, French accents are the win.

  • be happy that he even got finish for everyone to hear or it wouldnt exist

  • Ugh. This doesn't hold a candle to Tiny Tim's version.

  • @NyeTunes This is the original and Tiny Tim loved and emulated Mr. Chevalier as well as other singers of that era. It is very hard to say any version outdid any other version, even though Tiny Tim's take on the song was fantastic.

  • tiny tims version takes a shit on maurices'

  • Tiny Tim's version sucks!

  • tiny tim better

  • how can anyone think that hack Tiny Tim's version is better? he sounds like a retarded woman. really, clean your ears.

  • I like the Bratislava Hot Serenaders and Tiny Tim version better. But this is still cool.

  • Are you kidding? This man had an adorable voice!

  • Thank you for posting this charming version of this song. Viva Chevalier!

  • I like Tiny Tim better sorry :)

  • A song like this would be popular in America now because this sort of uplifting music during a depression is what everyone needs.

  • I love Chevalier's accent and the nature he sings with. It's as sunny as the song n.n

  • @141Zero I reply as with the same as I said to Beamingatyou.

  • Wow, 4 thumbs down?! You guys don't think Maurice Chevalier had a beast singing voice? Sheesh. I can't stop coming back to this video, it's awesome.

  • @beamingatyou This is the original song, with original lyrics, Tiny Tim changed them in the 60s, if Maurice Chevalier had changed them, he would have to be born after Tiny Tim, and he would have to make the song, after Tiny Tim, as you can see, this was made in the 30s, therefore, Tiny Tim, was the one who changed the lyrics. Furthermore, that is what "good music" sounded like in the 30s.

  • @JeffHendrie

Do you take me for an idiot? All that I said was that I enjoyed Tiny Tim's version better. I never said Chevalier's came second. I even acknowledged that Chevalier had a beast singing voice.

  • @beamingatyou I appologize for the misunderstanding I have made, I do not take you for an idiot, and I read it as it would be read in the old days, (which is the way of speaking I go by), "Maurice Chevalier's singing voice is pretty [horrable]", where as now-adays it would be read, "Maurice Chevalier's singing voice is pretty [good]". Again, I appologize for the mis-interpretation I made.

  • lmao tiny tims version is so much better

  • The phillistine are truely amongst us...

  • Yeah, tiny tim is better, I like not knowing what the fuck he's saying.

  • @mivrina I know what he's saying, but can't understand what Tiny Tim is saying. Is that bad?

  • No, Hitler's antecedents were not Jewish, and no one can be "part Jewish".

  • Why the heck is everyone talkin about Nazis and crap, shut the f up and enjoy the music

  • wonderful =)

  • This is good but Tiny Tim can't be beat!

  • I can see someone in a twenties-era black-and-white film just tapping his way down the street while listening to this song.

  • @CountTentacula

    Yeah, whit an Ipod LOL

  • you know that his wife Eva Braun was part jewish?

you have to know that hitler wasnt a german but an austrian man...who thought that it's the same

  • this seems like a song that should be on the next fallout game

  • @stewie711 or bioshock

  • @stewie711 Yes this was my first impression too. :D

It is good that these games bring back oldtimer music.

  • @stewie711 Genious

  • @stewie711 dude u are so right

  • @stewie711 holy shit that's the exact thing that came to my mind once i heard this

  • tiny tim sings this sht wayy better

  • I think he surrenders half way through.

  • The song was written by Al Sherman and Al Lewis if anyone is curious.

  • this accent is a french accent, more precisely the Parisian accent.

  • i like bing crosbys version between him and maurice. personal choice. tiny tim

  • i love his accent :) i duno wat it is but it sounds exquisite :)

  • I respect Tiny Tim's version, but this is clearly more purposeful.

  • any body who hates this song is a nazi gay!!!!!:)

  • you realize the nazis killed homosexuals.

  • thanks for posting! love the various lyrics

  • He's pretty good, but Tiny Tim's better...

  • Nice alternative to the famous 1960s reinterpretation.

  • @drcoxcentral Actually, if you look at the date it was recorded, it was made in the 30s, (AKA, 30 years BEFORE Tiny Tim).

  • COOL ;D

  • Tiny Tim rules at this song though.
