The chrome mic seen @ 1:44 in the clip is an Electro-Voice 630. - ie an Ev630.
The mic at upper right seen @ 2:17 is indeed a 1940s Shure 707a shell that I had triple chromed by Dennis Oellig. It's a sweet mic with a 1950s 'white label' CR element.
Glad you like the amp, but so far I am only cruising at an altitude of 3.5 stars. I'll bet some of the custom harp amp guys are only giving me one star for distracting their regular customers. ;)
Hi Yes it was the 707a shell, i wonderd if it was rare chrome model. How much did it cost to get it Chromed, does the guy that did it have a web site??. Is the clarke amp originally a Guitar amp it sounds as good as any custom Harp Amp i like the vintage amps best for that Raspy Little Walter sound but its each to there own. I sold my Harp Gear & had a Masco Head made into a cab
Hey - thanks man. No mods. The amp has an attenuator but that just means you can cut the overall volume by a set amount, for use in smaller gigs. It has no effect on tone. The tone you hear is the natural amp/mic combination.
Great job! That amp does a great job of backin' up your excellent chops! What kind of volume do you get in a live situation? Can you keep up with the guitars?
At its full unattenuated volume, the amp is loud enough for any club gig with a disciplined band. At full attenuation, you won't be able to drive it much if your playing a very small gig, like an intimate beer garden or something, but for a small to medium gig with a drummer and bass player it's a perfect sized amp.
For an undisciplined or unsympathetic band, I'd go with my Piedmont. 4x10 and 45 watts. But I prefer to play with musos who "get it" whenever I can. ;)
Yes, it's a 15. The amp is a copy of a Fender narrow panel tweed Pro. But Michael Clark tweaks it so it sounds like a 40 year old amp right out of the box.
I enjoyed that!! You are right!! This quest for tone can become very expensive and you never know what you'll get.I do use EV 630's at times.I have 4 of them...also Fatbottom mikes and other stuff...YES expensive!!
Great Playing!!!! awesom tone
