  • hey assholes..youtube uses flash!!

  • @PAMMASHERGILL sooo... ur point?

  • I agree with Steve. Flash is not where it needs to be to run on the iDevices and hopefully if they clean it up, Apple will support them.

  • could watch this video because i dont have flash on my mac

  • I have to agree with Steve Jobs on Flash. I never used Flash even before HTML5 existed. I found that I could do everything I needed with JavaScript and DHTML.

  • @blenheimears It's worth noting that Apple also forbids Mono/Unity, Panda3d, Java, etc.: any web plugin that executes code through a custom VM/interpreter. Apple didn't seem to mention that part to its consumers.

  • life if u r watching this on flash

  • lol i just went to some company to make a webpage, and they ask me do i want flash. I said or yes why not ,no problem, and they ask me again are you sure, because you cant view on iphone. So i said oh i did not think about that, so i said need simple one. Flash is dead nobody wants that stupid game anymore.

  • You need flash for a lot YouTube videos too, that's the one thing I dislike about my iPhone.

  • @emilyinbetweener You even used iPhone that you saying something like that? :p

  • FLASH IS NOT DEAD AS LONG AS YOU GO ON UR APPLE PHONES IPODS IPADS E.C.T YOU ALLS WAYS NEED FLASH IF YOU WANNA SEE MORE THEN YOUTUBE VIDEOS YOU GOING TO NEED FLASH.. I GOT A I POHONE AND A HTC AND FLASH ON MY HTC IS PRETTY GOOD I USE IT MORE THE MY IPHONE .. ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE STOP ALL THE BS IN JUST PUT FLASH IN THE APPLE PHONES IPODS IPADS E.C.T PLZ

  • lol prime example of Jobs bending reality in this vid, at that time not having flash was a massive leak in an iphone/pad

  • Been Flash free for over a year now. I use YouTube 5 for Safari, which loads ALL YouTube videos in HTML 5 without ads. Adobe Ad Player is useless for anything but ads.

  • I hate to say this, but I don't recommend Ipads or IPhones for anything good on the Internet.

  • @SuperDav3 What is Anything good?

  • I disagree with allot.

    1. He said flash was slow. My Android phone does flash about as fast as a good PC.

    2. The HTML 5 is good when it works... but many of the browsers including my Ipad 2 can't do many of the HTML 5 pages.

    3. Even drawing animated javascript pages in HTML 5 on the IPAD or IPHONE can get REAL slow. On a HTML5 page that draws 50 small moving images, I got

    50 fps on a Desktop

30 fps on My Android Phone

Even on a mac I got about 30 fps, but

but for the IPad I get about 2 fps....

  • @SuperDav3 I totally agree. I haven't had one problem regarding slowness or freezing on Flash content, and even if I did, I would just go to task manager and force quit and restart. Simple as that.

  • @SuperDav3 1. Try HTML5 YouTube player and compire ;]

    2. It can, but if you men ogv and webm then yes iPad has a problem here

3.Thats why you should use CSS3 instead of JS for webpage animation, which on iOS (and not only) it work like buity

  • @ShadowriverUB LOOK AT WEB GL WATER and then decide

  • @digerpaji decide what? CSS3 or WebGL? as long you don't need to make water andjust keying effects CSS3 is way to go

  • @ShadowriverUB depends...CSS3 has 3d too...but really depends on ur application..i say webgl is not needed till ur makign a game or an app that needs GPU accellerated graphics.

  • @digerpaji i know CSS3 got 3D, but you can only transform HTML object like Images, so you, wont do 3D models other then simple shapes. Also CSS is GPU a

accelerated too if browser does that, just look how smooth CSS3 works on iPhone

  • I kind of agree. Sometimes on my MacBook I can see flash going super slow and crashing. Imagining that on a tiny little phone would be crazy. Sure most of the web's video may be in flash, but look at the tons of mobile sites we see, and plus the fact that half of the flash videos play anyway somehow.

  • @NicksLocker Well actually, most modern phones can handle flash pretty well.

I've got an HTC Desire HD, which isn't the newest device on the market and Flash actually works okay. (I do watch full-screen video's with Flash regularly)

However I do agree that Flash is at its decline. It's a propitiatory technology that is still pretty power-expensive. (However, it does work decently, just not perfect).

The future of the web should be open, the future should be HTML5.

  • @Sjoerdd93 HTML5 is designed to be as extensible as its predecessors. That means support for embeddable content displayed through browser plugins (Java, Flash, Unity, etc). Apple forbids all of these, HTML5 does not. HTML5 *is* open, and that's great, but Apple does not support the full HTML 5 spec: they ban all kinds of content that HTML 5 supports because that content treads a fine line between *application* and *web content*, and Apple wans all apps provided through the iStore.

  • HTML5 is the future.

  • Let's all face it.

While html5 is cool, flash is NOT dead, and probably wont be for a while.

I agree, flash has its slowdowns and stuff like that. But back when it was macromedia, it wasn't so bad. Adobe does not know what they are doing. Every flash update includes so many new bugs, and that is the program itself, not the player.

I think that flash will always be around, everyone knows it is used most for the web.

they just need to stop dicking around and rewrite the players code completely.

  • @vgmp Flash won't die for a while, mobile flash is dead, flash sucks.

  • @iCocobowman3 niggers.

  • @vgmp Your profile picture is fucking gay.

  • @iCocobowman3 niggers.

  • @vgmp Excuse me?

  • @iCocobowman3 * Merry Christmas, Nigger.

  • @vgmp Nigger please, shut the fuck up.

  • Am I going deaf?

  • Boy you think with being as rich as this guy was he would have had some more modern stylish glasses.

  • I suddenly like steve jobs now, DOWN WITH ADOBE!!!

  • I just watched this using flash...

  • @davidtodor I watched this without Flash

  • Flash is dead software. It was designed back in the 90's when most computers didn't have a GPU, they were mostly CPU only, so in the 00's when computers started shipping with GPU's the flaws of Flash already started showing their ugly face. Jump forward 10 years, and you have this crap software trying to run on phones and computers, only using the CPU, killing battery life, causing fans to crank on in no time flat, and just in general being a waste of time. We need to move on.

  • "75% of the video on the web may be in flash"

Steve Jobs just admitted that the iphone / ipad are garbage for watching internet video content.

  • @Nanofuture87 yes and that's the reason why html5 is getting more popular and popular? your own sentence shows us that you rely on old stuff (in this case junk) and don't think forward-looking.

  • @mannem88 No, it shows that I want to be able to enjoy all multimedia web content on a device that is primarily a multimedia player. Flash really should have been at least an option considering that it is available on virtually every other system (windows, osx, linux, android, etc.).

  • @Nanofuture87 on a software platform that sucks on a mobile device

  • @cookieyy Yep, until the vast majority of sites that now use flash switch over to html5. I'd rather have a sucky platform that displays then content that I want than an excellent platform that doesn't.

  • @mannem88 Forward-thinking? You know that JavaScript is older than Flash right? It was introduced in 1995 by Netscape. Also this has nothing to do with HTML5 because HTML5 supports embeddable MIME types (Flash, Java, Unity, WebGL, etc). Apple forbids all of these so it's basically providing crippled support for HTML5.

  • Why not at least allow an app for flash? Steve Jobs has always been known as a control freak, and his company reflects it.

    R.I.P. Steve Jobs

  • what an idiot, y not support both?

  • "we're tired of these guys trashing us in the press", just like those stupid MAC vs PC commercials, "post PC era" and all the stuff we know?

  • Flash - Steve Jobs: 1-0

  • There he is, Steve Blowjobs!

  • oh oh apple.. looks like we found your weak point on iPhone!

  • @1990Italian YouTube is already engraved into apple products. It only doesn't work when you go on a website with a video that requires a flash or adobe.

  • @1990italian

U dumbass idevice user can watch this video billion times on the YOUTUBE APP that build directly build into the devices....stupid bitch

  • Yhh while you guys are watching this on your pc im watching this on my android with flash... Stupid iphone fanatics...

  • @1990Italian haha fail. there's a perfectly good YouTube App as standard on every iOS device :) it works perfectly well without flash.

  • Mobile flash is dead, Steve Jobs rules Bitches!!!!!

  • @stevejobsays You do realize that mobile flash plug - in is dead and not flash technology do you? With "Abobe Air" flash content will be on ios & android without a plug in!! Ever hear of a game called Machinarium? it's was the number 1 game on the app store last month! And it's made with flash! Dummy!

Flash just put on a new costume and the idiots think is gone! lol

  • @stevejobsays so basically flash no longer needs a plug in yay!

  • @stevejobsays Without flash you wouldn't be watching this video.

  • @mabz9 Not all videos are Flash or you could not have youtube on the iPhone, iPad, or iPod. Just so you understand Youtube gives you the choice of extension you can use.

  • @mabz9

    I'm watching on HTML5

  • @stevejobsays Jobs rules? It's more like doing something else now, like nothing. True is, Adobe dropped Flash mobile after Microsoft told them that they wasn't going to support plugin in IE.

  • @stevejobsays u´ll be dead soon

  • @stevejobsays yeah html5 is taking over... sadly safari and html5 do not get along well so its not a great win

  • @stevejobsays That's not the only thing that's dead.

  • @stevejobsays He was right with flash as much as he was right with everything he ever said. He changed everything! He RULES!!!

  • @stevejobsays no stevejobs is dead and flash is alive

  • @stevejobsays hate to be the barer of bad news but actually Steve Jobs is dead.

  • @stevejobsays Dead? I guess Jobs died first..

  • Flash needs to be dropped - it doesn't have a place in todays space...!

  • @leesmallwood yea it too slow if google said it it crashes the websites

  • He was right, adobe just stop the development of flash on mobile devices

  • Comment removed

  • wait, so you can't see YouTube on iPad?? I don't get it. YouTube is Flash, so...

I'm not using Apple products, and probably never will, but I just found out they don't use Flash.

  • Too bad he wasn't alive to see it cancelled for Android

  • Thumps up if watch this Video after adobe announcement about flash player!

  • There that reality distortion field that Jobs is so famous for. Flash is much more than a way to play video as implied here, and its not about Apple spending energy or resources. either. It's a programming tool that could run on iOS that's not controlled by Apple. Not just flash but all programming tools that don't allow apple 100% control are disallowed. In Jobs view-- protectionism is a core element of the iPhone's/iPad success.

  • I admit that flash isn't perfect, but the majority of the web is still flash, and I still cannot access many video sites from my iPod Touch. I want to love apple with all my heart, but things like this, lack of microSD in their handsets, lack of 4G, and slightly high prices keep me from apple fanboyism.

  • i cranked my volume up to hear this, and then someone called me on skype and now i cant hear anything

  • What show is this from??

  • @hearts64

Yeah... Flash might be on 95.71% of browsers..... just like floppy disks were on 95% of PC's.

    Until they weren't.

Like horse-and-buggys were on 100% of streets. Until.... they weren't anymore.

  • @00010101110100010101 umm almost every major video site has adapted to html 5. flash is still around but html5 is huge now

  • He sounds like a little bitch complaining, Flash player is installed on 95.71% of browsers...

  • @Hearts64 agreed, jobs was real good at brainwashing people and convincing people to buy his product and that all other phones were crap, i have a motorola atrix, FULL HTML 5 support AND FULL adobe flash 11 support, was that so hard, to just have BOTH? apple shoud give the customers what they want, NOT what they think is best for them.....but then again, as i stated above, apple brainwashes people to think that they need the limited capabilities of the iphone.

  • @fallen4life080 yes u don't realize that it took 5 years for flash to run on any smartphone, and I'm not talking flash lite which was total BS an sucked ass. so it took till the iPhone 4 to get another smartphone to run flash, and still your flash support is not full, as most websites with flash are not touch enabled so that it does not work correct the big sites have adapted but its still not like a desktop experience. i would like flash but i also have never missed flash, web sites adapted.

  • Android rules.

  • Flash, especially the new Flash Professionals, is shit.

They are so complicated and easy to crash. If I did not do backup (which luckily I did), days and days of work will just disappear in front of my eyes *poof* Ouch

  • For the past month I have been experiencing Flash and Shockwave has been causing both my Chrome and IE browsers to constaily crash.

  • dont miss that douchebag!

  • @michaelwach thats rude just because your a microsoft fanboy doesent mean you should be happy he died your just sad

  • he fails to realize that we don't want to open up a fucking youtube app to watch videos. we want the desktop version of youtube and other sites not the stripped down mobile versions.

  • @bigbrowncheifbottom and you fail to realize that flash is old and slow as shit mate. I animate in flash and it's bloated as hell. a mobile device can not run flash seriously without a major hit on battery. Hence the reason for apple not using it. If anything complain to adobe for not making a smaller faster product it's there problem really.

  • @ECampbellWORX iphone's battery is horrible WITHOUT flash, you would think iphone's battery would never die out. so explain that, i have a motorola Atrix 4G, full HTML 5 support and full Flash support, and it's battery life is way better than my iphone 4. plus my atrix opens and runs apps ON AVERAGE just as fast as my friends new iphone 4s (some things were slower on mine some slower on his).

  • @ECampbellWORX how does it run youtube videos??

  • @vtran31 ........... Its not running flash when it does that, its actually running an app, which is not made using flash.

  • @Spiritpact ......I dont understand. anytime flash crashes on chrome at home, youtube crashes too. does apple make an emulator or somethin???

  • @vtran31 run youtube great, has a custom HTML 5 player that works like a dream... Youtube even has a new mobile site that works great with HTML 5 also. infact the mobile youtube is like 10 times better then the iphones default app.

  • @ECampbellWORX Sorry but honestly, are you serious? I love browsing stuff on my hp touchpad because hey, everything including flash works! There isn't a website I cannot access or see what's on it.

With an Ipad or and Apple product, you can only look at Apple's youtube, use Apple's websites without flash, because hey if there's adobe products on the screen nothing shows.

  • @ECampbellWORX I really don't see adobe having any problems with flash in the future.

Seriously. Adobe and flash run everyday on nearly billions of machines.

    All working happily, and productively.

I have all of my machines running flash, and um, There isn't really anything that I can complain about.

    It's a beautiful thing.

Problem steve has with adobe and flash, is that he can't control adobe's product. Hence, he doesn't want it on his machines, much to the demise of his customers.

    Simple.

  • @TheMehhh77 Yeah, sure they are!

We all believe you, buddy! NOT!

HTML 5 has been in the works for how many years?

Still not mainstream yet? Of course it's not, BECAUSE EVERYTHING ON THE WEB IS FLASH! DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @AzBirdDog I'm not bullshitting. Adobe has in fact cut out its mobile flash development and is switching to HTML 5. Look it up.

  • @AzBirdDog and then flash cancels there mobile flash development...

  • @ECampbellWORX yes adobe withdrew its flash from entire mobile platform. Hence! html5 as steve said! !!!! good vision steve we miss you!

  • @ECampbellWORX its true, when trying out some basic game making i used flash to try it out and it lagged like hell, when i tried another platform it was smooth

  • just give us flash!! I would love to stream right off the web!!! many people will agree... maybe with him dead, we will get flash now?? who knows.

  • Jeez for someone so smart, this guy's kinda dumb when looking at what the customers want...

  • Why can't they include it and just allow them to turn it on/off? Or is that to simple??

  • wats with the volume?

  • @xenofayth There's volume?

  • @xenofayth

Am just noob in video editing, see I use windows movie maker, I don't even understand why it does that...

  • @stevejobsays that's why: WINDOWS movie maker.

  • wtf is html5?? lol

  • flash does stink

heres some factual numbers: just watching this youtube video uses around 150MB of my RAM and about 13% of my cpu compared to itunes when playing Avatar on my computer uses about 140MB of RAM and about 7% of the cpu

so you can easily see that it wouldn't take much web browsing using flash to quickly hog up the computers resources

  • @vgking699 your using flash to watch this video

  • @kak672 Not if your on the iPhone or iPad watching this video.

  • it's so obvious why apple is anti flash. it would be like digging your own grave. get over it people. also web browsers were never ever designed for running full fledged apps. or any apps. The name "browser" is what it is. to browse.

  • "html5 is on the rise" then how come i've never heard of it until now?

  • @asdxar because you have been living under a rock? No just kidding :) html 5 has been on the rise quite some time now but it's kinda still in the baby stage (if that makes sense).

  • @asdxar do you even know what html is?

  • I always chuckle when my i-friends show me something on the web and mutter quietly "...I hope I can view it..."

  • When Steve died his life didn't flash before his eyes.

  • x.x sry ur dead dude, but im rly cheezed that safari sux.

  • Flash is an amalgam of incompetence and dishonesty.

  • R.I.P Steve Jobs

  • fuck the status quo. change it. html5

  • also you can play free games and content in flash that sell in the app store

  • if Microsoft does this kind of bulling they get an antitrust lawsuit, when apple does it on very shaky grounds at best they get away with it.

It's a disgrace and fits into the "big brother" apple mentality.

  • @Gontzal7 the difference is apple dont have a virtual monopoly in the phone/tablet market the way microsoft did with the pc. When you get to near monopoly status different laws apply. So sometimes its beneficial to not totally dominate the market :)

  • @Gontzal7 also, microsoft often got in trouble for providing faulty support for other technologies, like the buggy jvm they put in windows XP, at least apple were straight up and were clear about not supportingt flash on iDevices from day one.

  • What most of you are forgetting is that Adobe Flash is still the MOST POPULAR used format for videos and animations on the internet. Therefore it should be the standard for every tech company. Apple have made that single mistake of 'trying to think differently' and create devices that don't run a standard that the whole world uses. Most of you are probably going 'so what? HTLM5 is better and runs smoother than flash' well guess what? Apple's safari browser runs HTLM5 like shit, even IE is better

  • @shockwave2291 *HTML5* typing too fast :/

  • Gimme flash on my ipad thats wi i bought an htc instead of ur crapphone

  • Flash is bigest shit!!

  • All of you are dickheads and dnt know what ur talking about

IF YOU KNOW MIRE ABOUT THE INTERNET ETC ETC GO AND WORK FOR FUCKIN APPLE DO ALL UR COMPLAINING TO THEM APPLE IS BETTER THAN WINDOWS CRAP WINDOWS= virus REMEMBER THAT NOW FUCK OFF AND SHUT THE FUCK UP AND DON'T WATCH THE FUCKING VIDEOS U DICK FACES

  • Every website I go to nowadays uses html5 and I personally prefer it. Works much better than flash

  • I understand the arguments for HTML5 over flash, but since a lot of content on the web is still only flash based, why didn't they support it at least in the interim until HTML5 properly matures, instead of disenfranchising their customers for so many years?!

  • Flash can be replaced by other alternatives, and for a lot of people, it is quite unstable.

That said, I design, and animate in Flash almost every day. I think for a professional, flash is a decent creative tool. It however is more or less, crap for the general internet consumer.

  • Well, I create flash content on my mac every day in CS5, formerly CS3 and 8 Pro, and I can say that flash has become incredibly bloated with each release, Seriously. I export much of my animation to Flash for rendering, and flash has become very problematic in that aspect. In fact, to render any flash content for a final export, you need after affects, as Flash skips frames, some objects don't render, yadda yadda. I like flash, but I think it doesn't work as well as it use to.

  • more like steve jobs on crack !!

  • YEAH...SO WELL I HAVE A MACBOOK SO...FUCK FLASH HTML5 FTW !!!

  • Steve Jobs owns a PC. ;)

  • I love how Steve just says whatever he wants without any apparent sources.

  • you need better hardware to run flash. imagine a gamer complaining rockstar people to make GTA fast enough to run on a pentium 4 processor...LOL

  • @33ehsan Man, Please take programming classes before saying that...

  • @Linkipunk k

  • I got a i3-380m in my itouch just had it installed from some website I found that will put any processor in ur iPhone/itouch

  • It's funny how you need dual core 1.2 Ghtz processors to run as fast as iPhones. Don't go blabbing about shit you have no idea about. Go ahead, try me.

  • Steve failed! Thanks to this "slow" and "unoptimized" , we've got dual core cpu's in our mobiles!! Flash is something that boasts companies to make better hardware

  • Look stupid, you design computers that can't play 75% of videos and games on the web w/o using 3rd party software. Trust me; the only reason your profiting is because of jail breaking and the apple name. Apple force feeds the public a software that's limiting in game editing and they call it the future. Flash is coding and you are functionality. I never heard of a computer company trying to resign the internet instead of there own computers.

  • Why are android fan boys even watching this :P

  • @LTEAndroid Because we searched for it and it didn't happen to come up in related videos or recommended for you or anything logical like that.

  • shut up, Steve you fucking asshole, we don't want to be denied what we want.

  • @TVperson1 go buy a fucking android phone then and stop complaining!!! omfg you fucking idiot

  • Android > Apple

  • @FactionArts Is this enough?

  • @FactionArts You can do videocalls in HD, you have an HD video recording and iMovie to edit vids, you have the app store, the iTunes store, which means download music and apps, you can play 3D games, watch YouTube in HD, upload n égare vifs in HD, you have easier user interface, and much more I don't remember, and I don't know that will be on iOS 5. I know Android phones are faster, but in my opinion that's because the Android phones dont have 326 pixels per inch. iPhone are very fast though
