  • may the land we leave for our children be the land we left ~

  • Some have always said that Neil Young was an "ok" guitar player...Will NEVER understand that. Neil Young has created rifes that NO ONE would've thought of.

Neil is a treasure and will be missed......

BTY.....He is not that young.....Treasure what you see and listen........

  • amazing song!!!! but not the same without the bass guitar. I love how neil had such a compasion for the bass guitar and how it was used in his songs.....simple and unflattering use of instruments. just awesome

  • Thank You for posting this just what I wanted today, just what I needed. Thank You I'm grateful.

  • I hope there will be another Neil Young sometime in the future. Maybe another genre but at least that brilliance.

  • Having read the highest rated comment ( re grandfather ) I feel like shit in saying that I loved this song as a kid... 40 years ago!

  • Young man take a look at my life your a lot like me,except when I sleep at night I get up a lot to pee.(i'm old) Loved this song since it came out,Neil should do a version as the old man now.

  • @Area51Taren I don´t agree with you, not just canadian, neil young is one of the best artist in the whole wide world :-)

  • Neil is an American legend, to be included in the ranks with Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Elvis, and even John Denver. Each made different music, but each made wonderful music that stands the test of time. This song rings true for those of us who growing up tried our best not to be like our parents and later in life realizing that we indeed become so much like them. For those of us who had great and loving parents, that is a good thing. Thank God for Neil and the others.

  • @muttenstein that is truly a beautiful comment....my dad played Neil Young all the time when i was growing up and he still does...he plays his records though and i find myself playing Neil's songs on guitar alot over the past few years. I even put out a few of those on YouTube :) oh and by the way... i do have great and loving parents!

    Peace!

    Robert

  • @muttenstein he's canadian. Omeme Ontario and Winnepeg.

  • I couldnt stop thinking about this song a week ago when my grandfather was dying.. I had a feeling he would die that same day.. and just thought about how much this song reminded me of him and i..i wanted to hear it as soon as i got home.. when i got out of work i decided to listen to the radio instead of the cd in my car player.. and guess what song was playing as soon as i turned it on? this one.. I later found out that my grandfather had died around the same time the song played for me. =)

  • can you say concept STOLEN from harry chapin!

  • @sexyebonybabe Are you talking about "Cats in the Cradle" which was released 2 years after "Old Man?"

  • @FFThis Aww thats sad but things do happen for a reason don't they?

And very touching that must have been an important happening in your life

  • A similar story with me was about 2-3 years ago I started to not believe in God. And it was for no reason to my knowledge. I knew all of logic and evidence in the universe points directly towards theism, but my mind was working very irrationally for a couple weeks or so. Maybe I was too involved in my life at the time to keep my relationship with Him strong. But one night, as I was struggling with this, I turned on the radio and the first thing I heard was "Don't Stop Believing" :)

  • @cbproducktions " I knew all of logic and evidence in the universe points directly towards theism" In the words of Sir MacEnroe, "You cannot be serious!"

  • @cbproducktions That's an awesome story! Thank you for sharing :)

  • @FFThis sorry for your loss man, this is a great song tho
