Yes I miss the old traditional animation too, but don't bash 3D, WallE, Ratatouille, Toy Story are also very magical and beautiful touching stories. But I agree that Hannah Montanah, High school musicals and all those idiocies should go away from Disney. Disney is about making kids dream and teach them good values and for adults that want to feel that magic. So Disney stop thinking only about money.

I think to make it more realistically, the song should be more traditional persian style, and less commersial disney style. If Alladin and Jasmin has once existed, it's not very likely they would sing in this style ala commercial Disney. Still nice though to remember the 90's when I grew up.

There's a point in having a flying carpet in the movie because there is one in the fairytale about Alladin, but the fairytale doesn't mention anything about them speaking english or singing in this western kind of way.
