  • I ate his liver with a side of fava beans...

  • IN YOUR FACE, BITCH!

  • In other words ... Bitch you just got owned

  • You know what you look like to me with your good bag and your cheap shoes, you look like a rube, yes a well scrubbed hustlin rube, with little taste.. Good nutrition has given you some lenth of bone, but you're not one more from that poor generation of white trash, are you agent starling? And that accent that you've tried so desperately to shed, pure west virginia. what was your father, dear, was he a coal miner? Did he stink of the lamp? we all know how quickly the boys found you lol

  • hannibal; Speech 2,000 fallout

  • This is what it would have been like, had Sherlock Holmes used his powers for evil....

  • @RushLimborg I'd rather say, he is Poirot with a taste for human.

  • Awesome monilogue, but I have no idea what a rube is.

  • @bjr43

    a rube is a redneck.

  • immortal line...

  • I'd tap that...

  • I don't like how it showed her eyebrow go up at the end of the video, it's implies that she was going to respond with something insanely clever and that she didn't nearly cry while trying to smart off at him ..

  • It's really bothering me that he doesn't blink...

This was the first Silence of The Lambs scene I ever saw. I know the speech like the back of my hand. So powerful.

  • he doesn't blink

  • @TheDiversityMusic he winks

  • Heath Ledger's Joker is like the Hannibal of today.

  • getting all the way to the FBI

  • Clarice: Well... you're a... jerk... face.

  • @Kaikumach that's human jerky face, mister

  • @theclown2319 A hick, an unsophisticated person from a rural area.

  • 6 people are Rubes

  • What's so amazing about Lecter, he could intimidate with his words and nothing else. Anthony Hopkins is NOT a scary dude at all, but the way he speaks, it just makes it so believable, he doesn't need a weapon or even a scary looking face. He's just so smart, and that is what's scary.

  • The Silence of The Lambs was brillant and Red Dragon was a worthy addition, but Hannibal wasn't worthy. And Ridley Scott is to blame. That man breeds bad movies with occasional good ones like Alien.

  • @ProRanting come on man Hannibal was brilliant also

  • @ProRanting

Red Dragon was written BEFORE The Silence of the Lambs.

  • @wtfidonthaveaname I know that, but when it comes to movies Red Dragon was an "addition" to the Hannibal Lecter films because it was made into a movie later.

  • @ProRanting They did actually make the book "Red Dragon" in the early 80's called Manhunter, and it has a few phenomenal songs by Red7 and Shriekback too....

  • @ProRanting,

Ridley Scott is actually a great director and I liked Hannibal. It was well directed, written, acted and shot. It was better than Red Dragon. but not by much. Scott directed classics like Matchstick Men, Gladiator, Blade Runner and one of my all time favorites, Thelma & Louise. However, I hated Black Hawk Down.

So yeah, you wrong by a long shot.

  • @thelupoistheman1 Hannibal was laughable. Where it tried to be scary it became funny and it was a real shame because Anthony Hopkin's acting is still top notch through the movie. I liked Body of Lies, but Ridley Scott isn't that great.

  • @ProRanting hannibal was good it's just not as good as silence of the lambs and critics hated that. Plus the acting in it's good by everybody except ray liota (or however you spell that) he screwed it up with his stupid dialogue.

  • Notice, as much as Lecter detests vulgarity he himself uses as a tool to provoke other people, in the form of obscene remarks and gestures. Mmm....but then, he must've been awful cranky in that damn cell with no booze and no cigarettes.

  • 6 people are rubes...

  • Charlie Sheen can go fuck himself, Hopkins is a REAL actor.

  • the face at the end.....

  • Director: "Cut!"

Anthony Hopkins: "Can I blink now?"

  • best part of the movie!

  • Its really too bad how all the other Hannibal movies weren't nearly as good as this one was. Red Dragon was alright but was nowhere near how goos Silence of the Lambs was.

  • @duffmanofmusic If they hadn't totally screwed up the ending of "Hannibal" and kept Jody Foster as Starling, it would have been brilliant. It was still good, but no where what it could have been.

  • @kattwoman17 yeah but in Hannibal the writing wasn't as smart and on edge as it was in Silence of the Lambs. you began to hate lector instead of admiring his brilliance.

  • @duffmanofmusic

That's because the book it was based on was crap. Thomas Harris ran out of good material, and got stupid and cliche in his eagerness to bring Hannibal and Clarice together. Right, because Lecter would risk his safety for Clarice, and Clarice would betray her deep sense of justice and help Hannibal hide, before running off with him and taking part in his cannibalistic lifestyle. Come on.

  • @icarusthedefiant

I never read the book but that does sound cliche and stupid

  • The greatest movie villian of all time.

  • wow i like how it seems he doesn't really like her at first but in a few minutes he is already falling in love with her.

  • Pure west Virginia. lol. Lecter gets into their heads. I'm going to watch this tonigh. I love romantic comedies!

  • I see 6 reasons for abortion.

  • I really don't care that people think Hopkins went over the top. He is brilliant and deserved the Oscar

  • @Drac39 The only way he could have done this character is by being over the top. Lector wasn't your average-joe. He was a excentric genius who was a master with words and consumed human flesh.

  • I'm glad this movie beat the crap out of Beauty and the Beast for Best Picture! Hannibal is far better villain than Gaston! Clarice is a better Heroine than Belle! Buffulo Bill would skin The Beast's fur and Belle's skin! And if Gaston ever deals with Hannibal, Hannibal would eat him and The Beast if foight him on the castle!

  • i would love to go there to chill with him......behind glass of course lololol....ps jodie foster is sexy in this movie

  • Hannibal lector is the chuck norris of movie villains

  • His eyes are so fucking evil.....

This scene reminds me why Hannibal Lecter is the most terrifying villain ever committed to celluloid. Lecter is the only villain who I'd call a monster.

  • You and your cheap shoes! LOL

  • his voice helps me fall asleep

  • yup! definitely gonna use this as my 9th grade monologue for drama <3

  • this man is awsum....

  • This so reminds me of me!@

  • god, he's so fkn attractive. i gotta go out and read the books after seeing the film. i know they're different in so many ways, but i need my hannibal fix.

  • One of the greatest monologues of all time. Sir Anthony is in a class by himself.

  • @jimifan199214 if you appreciate good monologues, type "edward norton - fuck you" in the search bar, its a 5 minute monologue from a film called 25th hour. highly controversial speech but brilliantly performed.

  • I CANT WAIT TO SEE HIS NEW MOVIE!!! The Rite, is in his element in the movie-I see 'phenomenal' all over it

  • so hot

  • 6 dislikes WTF???

  • The french and saunders piss take of this is brilliant :P

  • Quid pro que; Rube baseically means red neck

  • Eyes of the maniac, tallant of the God+5

  • @gwa56. your right. you should watch the original to red dragon called man hunter. it was made in the 80s with the first appearence of Hanibal Lector except it was played by Brian Cox whos a very good actor in his own right although just can't compare to Anthony Hopkins in this role.

  • he s THe best GUys he s the 1st i think that only TOm Hanks can be compared to him

  • @hamsikElavezzi What about Jack Nocholson?

He's fucking Psycho in The Shine

  • @udistritalextrema yes also Jack but in this part no one can be compared to him...i just said that if i want to compare his career...Anthony Hopkins is the best also

  • This guy. He is brutal! Good actor! He reminds me of some people that have a really smart mouth!

  • BURN!

  • the best part of that was at the end when she smiled and lifted her eyebrow like she didn't give a shit.

  • i like anthony hopkins best actor ever

  • greastest soliloquey of the movie

  • just f*ckin awesome

  • you can't stop looking at his eyes i think he knew he was going to get an oscar

  • "yeah pft well your in prison". hannibal sees everything and will turn on you in an instant

  • Perfect acting by Anthony Hopkins! The voice, the eyes and just about everything else about him is so intense and believable. Just like a real sociopath, not like some other actors who portray these kind of characters as utterly crazy, overly aggresive or goofy. He portrays the character as a real person with just a little bit of a scary edge. He's right up there with Anthony Perkins' Norman Bates and Christian Bales' Patrick Bateman. He really deserved the oscar (unlike some other actors!).

  • I love Dr Lecter (Hannibal the Cannibal) _ This film is the best. Great actor Sir Anthony Hopkins!

  • Check out Jack Donaghey's version of this while he's playing poker with Kenneth the page on 30 Rock.

It's even funnier, which I wouldn't have thought possible. But then, Alec Baldwin is hamming it up intentionally, not just because he has no clue how else to play it.

  • i love it i can lisson to him talk all day: )

  • "You see a lot, doctor..."

  • ..what a voice, you could listen to him reading the dictionary!!!shame they changed the cast (foster) fort the follow up!!

  • Oh my fucking god I love his voice :D <3

  • his voice makes me masturbate

  • @TheUndertakerSaysRIP

Be careful; it might also make you suicide by swallowing your tongue, like poor Miggs.

  • is it me or jodie foster looks so hot in this movie !!!

  • @ultimatemanofwar its just you haha

  • @ultimatemanofwar ya its just you

  • He's so sexy oh my god...

  • I am a suburban dork i wanna join the fbi

  • his voice is so sexy :D

  • @EeeJaie wait till he eats you out ;D its funny cuz its a pun, goes both ways

  • @CrimsonRGU LOL xD

  • I love Anthony Hopkins <3 <3

  • Silence of the Lambs is much more scary than Se7en is

  • @92af True. His presence is very frightening, all he does is talk! Se7en is one of my favourite films too.

  • Cleanup on aisle 5 ... and some clean underpants!

  • AMAZING actor

  • At the end of Hannibal, the book, these two get married.

  • So epic, but seriously someone tell me what the hell is a rube.

  • @Superplex1001

rube (plural rubes) 1. A person of rural heritage; a yokel. 2. (pejorative) An unsophisticated or unintelligent person.

  • this is well done but it was better in the book hannibal didn't really show emotion or enjoyment in hurting her and it was done more casually and less rudely after clarice implied he was crazy

  • @ZigZagRunner She was also a stronger character in the book. When he pointed out her cheap shoes, she didn;t just sit there and take it, she replied, "Well, someday I hope the shoes will catch up with the bag."

  • @kattwoman17 yeah, less dorothy in wonderland but he made it more difficult after that lol, tryin to find manhunter but its friggin rare as and i don't trust the internet with my money brian cox done a good job with it too probs closer to the book on youtube somewhere if your that interested in the character

  • That background music is so eerie and evil......

  • Wow. Hannibal's a dick.

  • Anthony Hopkins is a GENIUS!

  • lecter, number one villain of all time.

  • Is there a formal term for this level of deductive reasoning? He can tell so much about her simply by looking at her. The same thing happened in the Sherlock Holmes movie when he is at the restaurant.

  • i wish i was able to do that.. i could freak anybody out xD probably also good for picking up chicks. every female comment in here is always about how hot this old man is, impressive! quess intelligence matters

  • Does anyone notice throughout the entire film, Foster always tilts her head, even when she is talking.

  • @Gearslover01 yer its a submissive thing. I have no doubt she planned to do this in the film. Goin deep into body language its theorized that showing vulnerability (the neck) shows a willingness to be protected, which has evolved into showing submissiveness

  • What does he mean by "tedious fumblings in the back seats of cars"?!

    Please tell me.

  • @DictatorRoB I could demonstrate if you like. Interesting in the novels these two end up as lovers, but the movies haven't got the balls to do that.

  • @stevebritgimp

    Only explain it to me.

  • @DictatorRoB

Sex with guys in high school. She was an attractive girl and thus had a lot of relationships.

  • @wainscottbl Damn, I thought so! I was just confused why "tedious fumblings". Probably convicting her to her sex.

Funny thing is she said "You see a lot doc" so she admitted she had lot of guys.

Her dad would be so proud...

  • It is so sad, but brilliant when Foster buckles her chin at 0:21, it is spine chilling.

  • @Gearslover01 Why sad?

  • @DictatorRoB Because, Clarece is being stereotyped and reliving her past, remembering those old memories of her fathers death. She was on the verge of crying (and she did), I don't know about you, but when I cry or am about to, my chin tremebles and twitches like hers.

  • @Gearslover01

Yes later she will be forced by Lecter to think of her past, but right now she is not, she is rather pissed off because of Lecter mocking her.

  • @DictatorRoB Yeah, but he also mocks her father, stereotyping her father aswell asking if he was a coal miner or smell of olean. She then remembered her father again, i.e., the flashback scene two minutes after this one.

  • @Gearslover01 Yes, than she cried leant on her junky car...

  • I saw an interview with Anthony Hopkins where he said he played Lecter as though he was a cat. Little blinking. Little movement. Always in control.

  • A brilliant script made even better by Hopkin's under-stated performance as he leads us towards the F B...I. A master class. One watch it again and again.

  • @5eurocups2005

Even if the lines were corny, which i disagree with, it wldnt be Hopkin's fault. He didnt write the script.

  • Anthony Hopkins gives such an Theatrical performance as Lecter.

  • Only Anthony Hopkins could play that part!

  • His gaze...it's simply spine-chilling...

  • When the SWAT team(?) goes up to the 2nd floor to Hannibals cage--every cop has his finger on the trigger--(standard sub-standard training).Good old HL escapes through another fine police force.

  • brilliance

  • good institution's given you some length to the bone but your not more than one generation poor white trash

  • @cnotemorello "Good nutrition's given you some length of bone"

  • Samy ,

"good nutrition's given you some length OF bone"- Starling has benefited from good nutrition, longer bone structure, unlike her malnourished ancestors.

"all those tedious sticky fumblings in the backseats of cars" -having inexperienced and unsophisticated first encounters with boys.

  • Ok , thanks for the explanation. No web dictionary gave me definitions of fumblings or sticky fumblings that made sense. :s I assumed it was a dirty stuff :p

  • can someone help me out with the words (I'm french) : good nutrition's given you length FOR BONE ?

What is "tedious sticky fomblings" ?

  • @samy310383

    "tedious sticky fumblings"

The perceptive Dr. Lecter sees that Agent Starling is rising out of poverty and has likely had a few experiences with boys in the back seats of cars with boys. That is--sex.

  • Anthony Hopkins is the only one who could have played the part of Hannibal Lecter can't wait to see the new movie he is going to be in, Wolfman (or something like that).

  • @gwa56 same man, Anthony Hopkins puts all his roles at an amazing level, have you seen Fracture? Movie is amazing with him.

  • this is one of my favorite scenes in the whole movie. amazing.

  • Unsophisticated country person.

  • this is by far one of the best movies ever made.

  • what is a rube exactly? it's obviously something insulting but im not familiar with the meaning

  • It means an awkward unsophisticated person

  • it puts the loshern in the basket or it ges the hoze agen

  • Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal. Two of the Best Horror Movies EVER!!! And Anthony Hopkins is just AMAZING!!!!!!

  • I wonder what a conversation between Hannibal Lecter and the Joker from "the dark knight" be like?

What would they talk about? :)

  • you emply that Dr. Lecter is insane, he isint he's a genius..... Lecter would find the Joker quite rude and barbaric.

  • *LOL* i think you're right!

  • then eat him of course ^^

  • @ktto11

Lecter is a brilliant psychiatrist turned murderous sociopath, whereas the Joker is a thuggish criminal turned sociopath (or possibly psychopath).

  • @ktto11 Hannibal would kill him. He would disapprove of him

  • @ktto11 Cooking?

  • @ktto11 not very much I assume. Lecter is far too sophisticated. To him, the Joker is probably just a sick criminal.

  • @ktto11

Lecter would have the joker shitting his pants, then he would make the joker eat his own shit. And this would be done only using words.

  • @anonymousLeroy You just made me laugh so hard it hurt :D

  • I agree.

  • @anonymousLeroy

i respect your opinion and mean this as playful and non violent as possible..but...

    Bullshit!

  • @Stryder687

It's not. The joker is all about anarchy...lecter doesn't care. He finds a weakness and exploits it, like me looking for a crack, finding it, grabbing hold and ripping it apart.

  • @anonymousLeroy I agree that Lecter looks for a weakness and exploits it. Absolutely agree....so what's the Joker's weakness? And I've been a fan of Joker since I was a kid! And hell I don't really know! So Joker would laugh at Hannibal's attempts and regail him with tales of how he recieved his scars

  • @Stryder687 The Joker's weakness is his compulsive need to make Batman laugh.

  • @anonymousLeroy I agree with Stryder687, the Joker is practically a masochist, I doupt very much that hannibal could break him with mere words let alone anything else.

  • @anonymousLeroy the joker is ma fAV comic villain...and i even agree with this!

  • @anonymousLeroy Wow! I never imagined that. Lecter vs. Joker!

  • @ktto11 Two very different types of Psychopaths, I personally like the Joker more because he is evil for no particular reason at all. But Hannibal is pretty cool too.

  • @ktto11 body parts.

  • @ktto11 Well THAT is a really really good and clever question! (:

  • @ktto11

    Ponies and Double Rainbows! LOL

  • If you compare this to the later films, there's something different here. Hopkins is younger and more physically threatening, but even in his acting...there's an edge, a sort of viciousness to the way he says his lines that isn't in the later Hannibal movies. He says "poor white trash" with that mock accent, you can feel the genuine hatred inside him.

    Wow.

  • He keeps that southern accent in the whole speech: intentionally mocking.

This is his chance to intimidate and

belittle the federal agent, the woman,

whose investigation brings her to him.

    Hopkins put contained malevolence

    over in this performance. Hannibal

Lecter one of the scariest screen

    villains IMO.

  • @EGarrett01 I guess you've never met an investment banker from Barclays. You could pull up in an Aston Martin, wearing a $5000 Anderson & Sheppard suit, and he'll still talk shit about your shoes and tie, call you trash, spit in your face... like Indeed~~Indubitably~~ Haters of epic serial killer proportions.

  • I thought he didn't like rude people? Such a contradiction in the script here...

  • there's no contradiction. He's "rude" because he feels insulted that someone like her has the nerve to try to get into his brain. listen to the beginning of the video. "you think you can dissect me with this blunt little tool?"

c'mon man, i thought you actually watched the video.
